Chapter 157: Conversation
"The Key of Light?" Lei Kedun was startled; he hadn't expected the other side to suddenly mention the Key of Light.
Recalling that the Knowledge Wilderness had given him a Blasphemous card containing the Wheel of Fortune, Lei Kedun formed some conjectures.
The vague silhouette, answering every question, said:
"There are traces of alteration and concealment in your fate; only a high-ranking practitioner of the Fate Path can achieve such a level of modification and concealment."
"At present in this world, only Wu Luoliu Si, that little snake he pursues, and the Key of Light sealed in the western continent alongside the Knowledge Wilderness can be considered true high-ranking beings."
"Why don't you think it was Wei Er Ang Sai Ting? He still holds the uniqueness of the Fate Path in his hand."
Lei Kedun rubbed his chin with his right hand, casually asked a question, while his mind pondered the alliance between the Key of Light and the Knowledge Wilderness.
"If it were Him, then the game between Wu Luoliu Si and Him would already be over!"
The vague silhouette responded, then immediately asked:
"Do you intend to go to the Divine Abandoned Land?"
"Divine Abandoned Land? Giant King's Court?"
Lei Kedun replied in puzzled question; the Divine Abandoned Land must be his own place, and he could only think of the Giant King's Court that houses the first Blasphemous stone slab.
"Yes, Sasilier's evil spirit sleeps there; if I can merge with it, I will restore my Dark Angel identity and status."
"Since you already know Ya Dang's identity, it is no longer a secret; I hope to merge with Him in a rational state, thereby minimizing the internal friction between us as much as possible."
His right hand paused on his chin; Lei Kedun stared at the vague silhouette, and his truest thought at that moment was to refuse to help the other.
Since first contacting the other, Lei Kedun's mind has harbored the notion of preventing the God from appearing, lingering deep within.
After a moment of silence, Lei Kedun spoke again:
"The True Creator is now merely a common Sequence 0; can He still separate authority and traits for you?"
The vague silhouette shook its head slightly and answered:
"If it's only the Hanged Man, naturally not, but if I merge with Ya Dang in a better posture, I don't need the complete three Sequence‑1 traits and uniqueness; that also benefits control over the Chaotic Sea."
The vague silhouette's reply was rather unexpected, and Lei Kedun looked at the other with astonishment:
"Do you intend to let Ya Dang take the lead?"
"I am Him, and He is me." The vague silhouette did not deny Lei Kedun's words.
The scene fell silent again; Lei Kedun could not tell whether the other's words were true or false. The other had been parasitically inhabiting his flesh, perhaps already sensing his hidden desire to prevent the God from appearing.
"Dawn is approaching."
"You need not answer now; when you become a Sage, I will ask for your opinion again. Ya Dang has not yet become a Utopian, so you have ample time to consider."
After the vague silhouette finished speaking, the surrounding scene blurred and faded, and Lei Kedun's consciousness slipped back into a sleeping state.
Outside, the sky shifted from dark to light, and until sunlight streamed through the window onto the bedroom floor, Lei Kedun finally awoke from his dream.
He glanced at the bright sky beyond the window, then rose slowly from the bed.
Instinctively, he looked at the deep‑red Hanged Man tattoo on his left forearm; the crimson seemed richer, almost blood‑red.
"His condition is constantly improving?" Lei Kedun muttered to himself.
After a hasty breakfast, Lei Kedun returned to the second‑floor study and retrieved another trophy obtained from Tuerna: two beast‑tooth short knives, each about twenty centimeters long.
During this period, Lei Kedun had fully analyzed the extraordinary abilities of the beast‑tooth knives and developed them into secret techniques.
"Corresponding to the Sailor Path Sequence 7 navigator, I have little use for them; should I have Mr. Huang crush them into traits, or sell them?"
Lei Kedun toyed with the two beast‑tooth knives in his hand, contemplating how to dispose of the magical items.
"Crack~"
The study door was pushed open from outside; Ke Lai En entered with a bewildered expression, glancing at Lei Kedun and then at the now‑closed "door" behind him.
"Lost?"
Seeing Ke Lai En's confused state and the Universal Key he held, Lei Kedun could guess what had happened.
"Uh" Ke Lai En laughed awkwardly and put away the Universal Key.
"The Universal Key really can't be used casually; the disorientation effect is strong. Luckily it led me to Al's place; if I had barged into a stranger's home, I'd have had to get Lawyer Yu Ergen to pull me out of the police station."
Ke Lai En muttered to himself for a moment, then his gaze fell on Lei Kedun's rolled‑up sleeve, noticing a deep‑red Hanged Man tattoo on the left forearm.
"What is this?" Ke Lai En stared at the tattoo on Lei Kedun's left forearm, feeling a very bad impression, as if it radiated decay and filth.
"The mass of flesh and blood bearing the True Creator's divinity that I obtained from Lan Er Wu Si now parasitizes me."
"Him? Really came back to life?"
Ke Lai En, keenly catching Lei Kedun's wording, asked with a worried expression.
"Hmm." Lei Kedun lightly nodded, waved his arm to indicate no major issue, then said:
"It houses a fragment of the True Creator's separated conscious awareness, essentially an incarnation of Him, calling itself Sasilier; I have temporarily reached a certain cooperation with Him."
"What cooperation?"
Ke Lai En's brows furrowed; cooperating with a demon god could not be a good thing by any stretch.
No, the Hidden Sage is also a demon god; if you count strictly, the Fool Above the Gray Mist could also be included. Has this guy fallen into a demon god's nest?
Unmindful of Ke Lai En's scattered thoughts, Lei Kedun explained his cooperation with the fragment of the True Creator residing within him:
"The Aurora Society has a plan for the True Creator's descent; our cooperation is to ensure the Aurora Society's plan succeeds, then eliminate the portion of the True Creator that would descend."
Ke Lai En stared at Lei Kedun, doubting whether the other had been covertly tainted by the True Creator; otherwise, why agree to a cooperation that would usher in a demon god?
"Is this cooperation serious? Killing a descending demon god!"
Ke Lai En stared intently at Lei Kedun, trying to read something from his expression.
Lei Kedun nodded: "Of course, the True Creator will cooperate in its own suicide, and I will enlist enough allies."
"Allies?" Ke Lai En instantly recalled the last time the other caused the Hidden Sage's brief descent: "Do you intend to have the Hidden Sage and the True Creator engage in a Divine War?"
"Impossible; the Night Goddess and the Lord of Storms would never permit such a demon god's descent, let alone happen again in Beikeland."
Lei Kedun waved his hand and said.
Hearing that it wasn't a battle between evil gods coming to Beikelande, Klein breathed a sigh of relief, but his gaze toward Leikedun revealed some wariness.
After pondering for a good while, he finally spoke: "Do you feel that your condition is off? For example, your conduct has become extreme?"
Leikedun remained silent for two seconds, glanced at the cautious Klein staring at him, and said in a sighing tone: "Do you suspect I've been contaminated?"
Before Klein could shake his head to deny, Leikedun went on to say:
"I'm definitely contaminated, probably soaked in the Knowledge Wilderness, but you think my conduct has become extreme—that should be the influence of the Sage characteristic within me."
"This is the erosion of humanity by the innate madness instinct in divinity and traits; I lack an anchor like other Angels have, so it's more severe."
Klein's brows furrowed deeper and deeper; he realized that this fellow townsman of his had many problems, and the fact that the other hadn't yet gone mad and lost control was nothing short of a miracle.
"Not losing control isn't a miracle; it should be the contamination left by the Knowledge Wilderness suppressing all of this."
Leikedun raised his eyebrows, somehow reading Klein's inner thoughts.
With a bitter laugh, he said: "Just like this, even if I do nothing, that Sage characteristic will continually merge with me, pushing my Sequence upward."
Klein fell silent for a moment, as if he were wrestling with something inside, and after a while he spoke:
"Your problems seem to be getting worse; this is my impression from our time together. Is there a way to resolve it? Or do you need an anchor?"
"Before passively merging with the corresponding trait, actively advance." Leikedun said without too much worry.
"Hmm." After listening, Klein merely nodded silently, wanting to speak but stopping himself for a while before saying:
"If the Fool were to give you an angelic position under Him in advance, could that serve as your anchor to alleviate your current state?"
Leikedun was stunned for a moment; he hadn't expected Klein to say that, first falling silent, then laughing out loud.
"Haha, not a bad idea, but does the Fool have any followers?"
Klein hesitated, wanting to say there would be in the future, but then froze: "How do you know the Fool has no followers?"
