Chapter 160: New Member at the Tarot Society

~9 min read 1,658 words

After a hearty breakfast at Indist Selunzo Restaurant, Leiketon led Kelei En back to the house at 15 Mingsike Jie.

The moment he stepped out of the spirit realm, Leiketon let out a sigh:

"Beiernadai people are quite nice; they even settled the bill for us,"

Kelei En nodded in agreement, especially after he saw the final bill the waiter brought, showing a consumption of nearly one hundred pounds.

Kelei En glanced at Leiketon beside him and voiced his thoughts:

"I didn't expect the feast you mentioned would be taking me to mooch a meal, and even a lady's meal!"

"I just had a hunch I'd encounter a Beiernadai there; the mooching was unexpected—I intended to treat you myself."

After a brief pause, Leiketon deliberately lowered his voice a notch and continued:

"Do you think the Beiernadai would shield the aggregation effect between extraordinary traits? Not to mention her, the sage traits I possess are concealed by the secrets left by the God of Knowledge and the Hidden Sage."

"Then how did we encounter her directly?"

Kelei En's expression grew uneasy at the words; after experiencing the 0-08 arrangement, he had developed a shadow over all coincidences.

Leiketon shook his head: "I don't know, but the problem likely lies with me."

"On you?" Kelei En retorted, a bit puzzled.

"Yes, this isn't the first time; I've found that on the Seeker of Secrets path, I wield an incredible influence, though it could also be my illusion."

Recalling all his encounters upon arriving in this world, Leiketon began to explain:

"When I set sail to the Future Vessel, I inadvertently mentioned the Mysterious Queen, and I immediately met her, then successfully boarded the Future Vessel."

"I subconsciously reject the Moss Ascetic Order, and among the extraordinary beings on the Seeker of Secrets path, besides the Star General and the Mysterious Queen, I've only ever seen corpses."

Kelei En listened, stunned; if all this wasn't just his overthinking, he also found it somewhat terrifying.

Being closely linked with Yuanbao, I have only shown an extraordinary aggregating power, yet have not displayed this influence that prevents meeting certain people entirely.

"Perhaps it's just coincidence," Kelei En said after a moment's hesitation, offering a comforting remark.

"Perhaps," Leiketon nodded slightly, then turned to Kelei En and said in a self‑deprecating tone:

"Actually, sometimes I wonder—am I still myself? Or, like Luosai Er, have I already switched personalities when contaminated?"

Kelei En's comforting words got stuck in his throat; hearing him speak so plainly actually made Kelei En doubt whether it was truly so.

Kelei En hesitantly offered a suggestion: "Shall I do a divination for you?"

"If I give myself a mental suggestion now, truly believing I'll soon encounter an extraordinary Seeker of Secrets, what would happen?"

Leiketon did not respond to Kelei En's proposal, instead steering the conversation elsewhere.

"My advice is not to try."

Kelei En said expressionlessly, feeling an intuition that he shouldn't let the other do it.

He curled his lip, Leiketon gestured his hand, ready to leave:

"Remember my amethyst ring; have the Fool craft it into a talisman, or just crush it into traits—that's fine too."

"Alright," Kelei En said expressionlessly, nodding; he only breathed a sigh of relief when Leiketon's figure vanished from the room.

Lying back on the living‑room sofa, Kelei En massaged his temples:

"How can I fool Al? Tomorrow is Monday, and he doesn't seem at all the type I can fool!"

After obtaining the amethyst ring, Kelei En had already tried using the properties of the Gray Mist to forge it into a talisman, but found it impossible; although the Gray Mist revealed the misfortune entangled around the ring, he didn't know how to manipulate or use it.

"Perhaps I could truly try praying to the goddess; she is the Empress of Misfortune and Fear!" Kelei En muttered.

The thought surfaced, making it hard to suppress, and it also allowed testing the goddess's attitude toward him.

With that in mind, Kelei En hurried upstairs, prepared all the ritual materials, and set up a ceremony.

"Snap!" he snapped his fingers, and the arranged candles ignited automatically; Kelei En dropped two drops of night‑scented herb essential oil into the flame, causing the fire to flicker, and the room filled with the herb's aroma.

After preparing, Kelei En stepped back a pace and recited aloud in Ancient Hermes language:

"O Black‑Night Goddess, loftier than the starry sky, more enduring than eternity; you are the Crimson Lord, Mother of Secrets, the Empress of Misfortune and Fear, Lord of Sleep and Silence."

"I pray to you, seeking the power of misfortune."

"Night‑scented herb! A herb of the night."

As the incantation continued, the room's light silently dimmed, the surroundings grew quiet, leaving only the sound of the flickering flame in his ears.

Suddenly a gust of wild wind swirled abruptly inside the room; the flames wavered, and the prepared materials began to lift, swirling in an invisible vortex.

Beside the amethyst ring on the floor, a talisman with a deep‑black base and sparkling embellishments slowly formed, lying still on the ground.

"The goddess actually responded!" Kelei En exclaimed with a complex tone.

Having his prayer answered by the goddess indicates he has entered her sight; fortunately, she bears no hostility toward him.

Time quickly passed to the next day, another Monday afternoon; Leiketon sat in the study's armchair, awaiting today's Tarot Society.

After the Wind's Favored's magic elixir formula was conveyed to him this morning by Jadeliya via messenger, Leiketon directly prayed to the Fool, asking him to relay it to the Hanged Man A'erjie.

Within less than an hour, Leiketon received 2,000 pounds from the Hanged Man classmate, along with a diary page from Luosai Er that read, "The witch's flavor is really nice."

At Beckland time, precisely three p. m., Leiketon's gaze grew slightly unfocused as gray‑white mist swirled around, and vague silhouettes simultaneously materialized within a grand ancient palace.

"Good afternoon, Mr. Fool."

Miss Justice still was the first to rise, bowing to the Fool and greeting him.

Then Miss Justice turned her gaze to the second lady seated on the same side at the Tarot Society, her curiosity unmasked, and asked with a smile:

"Who is this?"

Seated at the head, the Fool, with a leisurely demeanor, surveyed the room before saying:

"This is Miss Magician, our new member."

After greeting Miss Magician responsibly, Miss Justice introduced the other members surrounding the new member:

"I am Justice, over there..."

The magician lady who had just joined the Tarot Society, following Miss Justice's introduction, observed each person in turn:

Miss Justice is a young, elegant, very friendly, warm-hearted lady; Mr. Hanged Man's aura suggests he is the leader of some faction; Mr. Sun looks like an ordinary teenager, aside from his physique, a Forssac person? Mr. White Tower, how come he feels as lazy as when I'm at home? At such a solemn high-end gathering, either he's absent-minded or very powerful; Mr. World is quite gloomy; at first glance he's not someone to provoke.

Fors fully exerted her imagination, sticking her own perception's labels on each member of the Tarot Society.

While Fors was observing everyone, others were likewise observing Fors, especially Miss Audrey, who as an audience member had already guessed Fors's identity.

Today, without the Roselle Diary, Miss Justice spoke first:

"Mr. White Tower, the custom-made clothing for the small animal you need, I have already found my favorite designer to make it, and I will urge her to complete the production within the next two weeks."

"Okay, thank you very much!"

When Miss Justice mentioned herself, Rekton straightened his body, nodded to her in greeting, and then leaned back against the high-backed chair.

"Small animal? Custom-made clothing?"

Fors felt especially doubtful inside, wondering whether discussing such things at such a high-end gathering was really appropriate.

As an audience member, Miss Justice keenly noticed the doubt of the newly joined Miss Magician beside her, and explained in a joking tone:

"This is the compensation Mr. White Tower proposed after he answered some of my doubts last time, to have some custom-made clothing made for his extraordinary pet."

"Extraordinary animal!" Magician Fors whispered, repeating it once.

With mixed feelings, while I was still running around for the Sequence Eight magic potion ingredients, others had already luxuriously fed magic potion to their own pets.

"Is he also a noble like Viscount Grerlint, or from a wealthy family?" Fors inwardly slapped a wealthy label on Rekton.

Seeing that no one else was communicating, the Hanged Man A'erjie slightly raised his hand and said:

"I need the crystal feather of the Blue Shadow Falcon and a clue about the Dragon-eye Sea Eagle; does anyone here have them?"

A'erjie deliberately made the clue about the Wind-favored's main ingredient vague, so that even though World and Miss Justice could guess it was the Wind-favored's main ingredient, without more specific information they could not know what the true main ingredient was.

The Hanged Man mainly focused his gaze on Little Sun and Rekton; Little Sun is in Silver City, where there are many extraordinary creatures.

And White Tower Rekton, since he could obtain the Wind-favored magic potion formula, it is likely that he also has channels to obtain the corresponding materials.

But the result was somewhat beyond the Hanged Man A'erjie's expectation; no one present responded to his request.

Everyone glanced at each other for a while; finally, Klein manipulated the little World, speaking in a hoarse voice with Sang Ying:

"I will keep an eye out for you."

Rekton echoed in agreement, and the others likewise said the same.

Seeing this scene, the Hanged Man A'erjie felt somewhat helpless and sighed in his heart.

It seems I will have to look for them myself; the other members don't seem to be at sea, so the chances of encountering these two materials are not high.
