Chapter 211: Winning Over Lao Lun Si
Leaving the place where Will Anseiting's corpse was buried, Lei Kedun met Foersi, who was holding a bouquet of fresh flowers to pay respects, in the cemetery.
Foersi was slightly stunned, then took a few steps closer and greeted:
"Good morning, Mr. Tai En Si, what a coincidence, are you also here to pay respects to relatives and friends?"
Lei Kedun shook his head slightly, laughed softly and said:
"Good morning, Miss Magician."
"It's not a coincidence; I knew you'd come here, so I came early to run into you."
"Magician? Are you talking about the kind from a circus?"
Foersi suppressed the slightly stirring emotions in her heart and said with a puzzled expression,
Lei Kedun chuckled lightly: "The kind from the Tarot Society."
"Y—you? How did you know?"
Foersi's voice stuttered as she quickly scanned in her mind everyone from the Tarot Society.
"No need to be so nervous; more than I, others have guessed your identity."
"I want to meet someone; I have a feeling he'll be by your side, and perhaps we'll see him soon, so I waited here to run into you."
Lei Kedun explained why he appeared here directly and revealed his identity.
"Huh?" Foersi looked at Lei Kedun with some confusion.
In her mind, after some speculation, she had already locked Lei Kedun's identity between the White Tower and the World. The probability of him being Mr. White Tower was higher; the World was too gloomy and didn't match him at all.
After a brief thought, she nodded and agreed to Lei Kedun's request:
"Alright. No problem!"
Having obtained Foersi's consent, Lei Kedun followed her to Mrs. An Lì Sà's tombstone.
The two walked in silence; perhaps unable to bear the awkward atmosphere, or perhaps wanting someone to talk to, Foersi began to recount why she came to the cemetery:
"Since I learned of the extraordinary trait last time, I've wanted to see her."
"The main material for my apprenticeship came from Mrs. An Lì Sà's legacy; I inherited her power, so during this period I've been unable to resist the urge to come here, to place a bouquet at her tombstone, to say thank you."
"To Mrs. An Lì Sà, you are a qualified inheritor; otherwise she wouldn't have passed the apprenticeship's extraordinary trait to someone who knows nothing."
Lei Kedun whispered a comforting word beside her.
When Foersi placed flowers at Mrs. An Lì Sà's tombstone, Lei Kedun did not approach, but waited a short distance away.
Foersi stood before the black tombstone, stared deeply at the photo of Mrs. An Lì Sà, bent down to lay the fresh flowers, and softly said:
"Thank you!"
She then straightened, quietly recalling the past.
At that moment, Lei Kedun saw an elderly man with a light‑colored bouquet, wearing a heavy wool coat and a half‑high black top hat, his eyes azure, approaching.
Lei Kedun and the man met each other's gaze briefly, then both averted their eyes.
Lao Lun Si? He was shrouded in a strong aura of death, having lost the will to live after a severe blow, and his body had reached its limit?
With a glance, Lei Kedun already saw the condition of this Abraham family member, frowned slightly, and pondered how to save him.
Lao Lun Si walked to Foersi's side, stared at her quietly for a while, then spoke:
"You are truly a kind and good‑hearted lady."
Foersi opened her eyes and turned her head, seeing Mr. Lao Lun Si of the Abraham family, who had appeared here at an unknown time, also holding a light‑colored bouquet.
"No, this is not kindness nor good heart; Mrs. An Lì Sà once gave me, who had lost my mother, an unforgettable warm moment."
Foersi said sincerely, her eyes suddenly grew moist.
Lao Lun Si put down the bouquet and sighed:
"That shows you value friendship."
The two chatted briefly; as Foersi was about to take her leave, Lao Lun Si suddenly coughed violently.
Cough cough cough!
He coughed until his legs went weak, collapsing to the ground, seeming about to suffocate.
As a former doctor, Foersi did not hesitate and squatted down to administer emergency aid.
A bright, pure, warm light suddenly shone, making Foersi feel her body become warm; the discomfort from the cold vanished instantly.
Looking up in surprise, she saw Lei Kedun walking slowly toward her, his eyes surrounded by a pale blue glow.
"Snap!" Lei Kedun rubbed his fingers, forming droplets of pale gold water in the air.
These droplets, carried by a gentle wind, converged on the fallen Mr. Lao Lun Si, merging one by one into his body.
Foersi felt those droplets that brushed past her, imbued with strong vitality and purifying power.
Cough! Cough! Lao Lun Si kept coughing, but his pain visibly lessened.
Foersi maintained a half‑crouch, quickly implementing some emergency measures.
After a minute or two, Lao Lun Si's condition stabilized, though he bore some old hidden wounds that simple extraordinary abilities could not easily heal.
It seems they need to find Ai Mulin.
While Lei Kedun was pondering, Lao Lun Si, supported by Foersi, stood up; his gaze at Lei Kedun held inevitable wariness and a hint of sad gratitude.
He coughed lightly again, composed his emotions, then in a hoarse voice said:
"Thank you for your help; I thought my life might have reached its end."
"Your life is indeed close to its end, but not that quickly; it depends on you. I can hardly see any will to survive in you."
Lei Kedun whispered a fact.
"This" Foersi looked at the Lao Lun Si she was supporting, at a loss for words.
Lao Lun Si ignored Lei Kedun's words, merely smiled politely, turned to Foersi who was supporting him and said:
"Miss, could you escort me back to the inn?"
"No problem," Foersi quickly nodded in response.
"I'll do it then; just tell me the exact address," Leiketon walked over and placed his hand on Laolunsi's wrist.
In the western district, inside a room of the Carpenza Inn.
Several figures were swiftly sketched into view.
Having emerged from the spirit realm, Leiketon cast another simple healing spell on Laolunsi, easing the discomfort caused by his weak body being unable to endure spirit‑realm traversal.
Foersi helped Laolunsi lean back onto the bed.
Then her gaze fell on Leiketon, who had dragged a chair over and sat down; after a moment of hesitation she spoke:
"Mr. Taiensi, is Mr. Laolunsi the person you said you wanted to meet?"
Laolunsi, reclining on the bed, also fixed his eyes on Leiketon, his gaze filled with wariness.
Seeing Laolunsi's caution, Leiketon sighed helplessly and said:
"Yes, I wish to make contact with members of the Abraham family."
Continuing, he spoke into Laolunsi's confirming and even more wary eyes:
"I can offer them protection and assistance, whether retrieving the Aurora Society's attributes and seals, or providing aid during Full Moon Whisper."
"Foersi, you are also affected by the Full Moon Whisper; you should know that its utterances can be blocked."
"How do you know?" Foersi looked at Leiketon with a shocked expression, her eyes complex, then seemed to recall something and relaxed.
"The Full Moon Whisper can be blocked?"
Laolunsi's full attention was drawn to that sentence; he looked at Foersi as if seeking confirmation, even though he no longer knew whether he could trust the lady.
Foersi nodded lightly and said, "Yes, when I was in danger I used a relic belonging to Mrs. Anlisa, which caused me to be entangled by the Full Moon Whisper."
"Until last month, when I was about to collapse, I recited the honored name of a Great Being; He pulled me into His divine realm and blocked the Full Moon Whisper."
"Great Being," Laolunsi whispered, his hopeful eyes dimming; he had already taken the Great Being Foersi mentioned as an evil deity akin to the True Creator.
Leiketon sighed helplessly; the Abraham family is now overly wary of the outside world, making their trust hard to earn.
After a moment of contemplation, Leiketon spoke again:
"I am neither an extraordinary one of the apprentice path nor of the neighboring path; you need not worry that I am here for the high‑level attributes the Abraham family possesses."
"I will choose to help you, not because of you, but largely out of respect for Mr. Men's favor."
Laolunsi finally showed a different reaction on his face; still distrustful, but at least open to dialogue:
"Mr. Men? The ancestors vanished millennia ago, and you, though powerful, are probably not even a saint yet."
"Not yet, but soon. If that worries you, you may stay in Beikeland longer; I will be promoted to Tier Four before the end of next month."
Leiketon said this with great confidence.
"You're about to be promoted to demigod?"
Even Foersi beside them couldn't help but exclaim in surprise.
She thought Leiketon was merely putting on a show, yet his aura inexplicably made her believe his words were true.
Leiketon looked at the silent Laolunsi and continued:
"If you have concerns, I can swear to any righteous deity that during your stay in Beikeland I will not, in any form, disclose your information to anyone outside this gathering, nor act against you in any way."
"However, you must give me a definite answer before the year ends; I will leave Beikeland at year‑end."
Laolunsi remained silent for a long while before speaking again:
"What do you hope to gain by helping the Abraham family?"
"That does not concern you; the price…"
Leiketon replied in a deep voice, but seeing Laolunsi's resolute gaze, added:
"Probably, after Mr. Men is freed, he will need to work for me for a while, and He must grant me a traveler‑mage attribute."
"Of course, if He could directly cultivate a traveler mage, that would be even better."
