Chapter 263: Trade for

~8 min read 1,504 words

"I would rather have the human side of you take the upper hand."

Leiketon voiced his opinion.

"Heh," Sasilier chuckled lightly, then sighed:

"I also hope to dominate humanity myself; I believe being human is the most precious thing about existence. When divinity becomes too intense, we gradually cease to be ourselves."

"Not being oneself?" Leiketon didn't quite understand the remark; in his view, whether divinity or humanity, it should still be himself.

"You possess the traits of the White Tower Path, so you must be familiar with 'rationality.' When you remain in a state of absolute rationality, do you still consider it a positive effect?"

"Rationality is close to divinity; perhaps that's why you bear the descent upon a body that merges the White Tower Path traits."

Leiketon fell silent at the words; he had never contemplated the fact that he awakened from this body in that direction.

Yet upon closer thought, it seemed quite possible. He had previously attributed it to luck, but in the mysterious world, every coincidence is actually a necessity; every development has its cause.

Sasilier, as if sensing something, looked up at the sky dyed golden by dusk; his gaze seemed to pierce the dream and see the real scene.

"The newly promoted sage has arrived."

Still pondering his own issue, Leiketon froze for a second before realizing the other was referring to Beiernadai.

He then turned to the opposite Sasilier and asked:

"By now you should have fully assimilated the True Creator's descending will and power, right?"

Sasilier smiled faintly and nodded gently; then the dusk in the dream suddenly erupted in bright light, and Leiketon's eyes flashed, jolting him awake from his sleep.

On the Future, Leiketon sat up from the bed, the scene from his dream vividly resurfacing in his mind.

He turned his head to glance; aside from the crow Anu sleeping in the corner, he saw no sign of Sasilier. It seemed Sasilier had not yet left the host state.

He immediately rolled out of bed, grabbed clothes from a nearby coat rack, dressed neatly, then extended his right hand, grasped the air, slightly turned his wrist backward, mimicking the motion of opening a door.

A wash of pale blue light rippled outward, and a "door" linking to the deck opened.

Leiketon stepped straight through the doorway.

The next moment, his figure appeared on the deck.

The Future sailed swiftly across the sea surrounded by land; the wind and waves were mild, and even at high speed, the sea breeze merely rustled the clothes.

He walked on the deck, violet light swirling in his eyes, seeking Beiernadai's location.

The next instant, thick verdant vines draped around, covering the area like a downpour, intertwining and layering rapidly into a lush green forest.

In the forest's center, the green vines formed a simple study; Beiernadai sat quietly at a coffee table, a steaming cup of coffee in hand.

She wore a white Indies‑style shirt and a deep black jacket, a slender rapier at her waist, and aside from lacking a triangular hat, she bore the standard sea captain attire.

"Did she just come from the Dawn?" Leiketon wondered, then stepped forward.

As he moved, a semi‑transparent black shadow rose from beneath his feet, advancing with Leiketon; its shape solidified into the image of Sasilier that Leiketon had just seen.

At the same time, Leiketon felt something detach from him, severing its link to his body.

It gave him a sense of relief, as if Sasilier's host had been a burden to his body and spirit.

Leiketon and Sasilier each found a seat on opposite sides of the coffee table.

Then Invisible Servants emerged from void, carrying coffee, placing the steaming cups on the tables before Leiketon and Sasilier.

Sasilier lifted his coffee, a nostalgic expression on his face, took a sip, then calmly addressed Beiernadai:

"Although the previous matter was part of the deal you both had already arranged, I still thank you for your assistance; it has greatly smoothed the plan's progress."

"I will pay a certain price for this; what do you require?"

Beiernadai, unsurprised, lightly nodded and said:

"A single drop of mythic creature's blood, from anyone, will suffice."

Leiketon, hearing this, looked at Beiernadai, thinking it was meant for the captain; was this maternal care from the old mother?

"Fine." Sasilier lightly nodded.

"Perhaps you have other options?" Leiketon spoke, interrupting their swiftly reached agreement.

Sasilier paid no mind to the interruption, leisurely continuing to sip his coffee, as if compensating for a long‑neglected pleasure.

Beiernadai turned her gaze toward him, silent; her azure, deep eyes revealed no hint of doubt as she waited quietly for an answer.

Following Beiernadai's gaze, Leiketon chuckled lightly and said:

"You want mythic creature blood, presumably for the captain, right?"

"In a while, she will have a better option: the Mercury Snake of destiny."

Beiernadai gave a slight nod, her eyes sweeping over Sasilier, then she changed the subject and said:

"Then what do you think I should choose?"

"Me?" Leiketon hesitated; he hadn't expected Beiernadai to throw the question at him.

After a brief pause, he looked at Sasilier and asked:

"The Hanged Man, as the true god overseeing the fallen realm, can he, by wielding authority, reverse the situation where divinity overwhelms humanity?"

Beiernadai, whose expression had been neutral, also fell silent at that moment, her gaze fixed on Sasilier, awaiting the answer she hoped for.

Sasilier set down his coffee cup, thought briefly, and said:

"Your idea has a certain degree of feasibility, but such delicate manipulation of the spiritual realm requires my cooperation; those who encounter this trouble have essentially already entered the angelic rank."

"It also requires assistance from a high‑tier psychotherapist, and it cannot be a case like Wuluoliusi; as a naturally born mythic creature, he lacks a proper childhood and experiences, and his personality has its own issues."

The Ancient Sun God also enjoys taking in troubled children, with eight Angel Kings beside him, yet only his own avatar proves reliable. Leiketon's thoughts suddenly scattered, conjuring vivid images in his mind.

Beiernadai seemed to recall past memories; a smile flickered on her face before vanishing.

She lightly furrowed her brows, appearing reluctant to dwell on the past, then sighed softly:

"He had a childhood; in his youth he possessed ample humanity, but he was born with a knowledge‑mentor trait, which caused his humanity to be increasingly suppressed by divinity as he aged."

"As for cooperation, I think I can persuade the current Him."

Sasilier asked nothing further, simply nodded lightly and said:

Wait for the right time, I will contact you; before then, I at least need to go herd a saint of the viewer pathway.

No problem.

Bei Erna Dai nodded lightly; she also needed time to persuade Bo Nuowa.

Seeing that the two had reached an agreement, Lei Kedun put forward his request to Bei Erna Dai:

I want to borrow the 'Wheel of Fate' card for a period of time; I have a feeling that I will need it at some point in the near future.

Sure, in two days I'll have someone bring it to you.

Bei Erna Dai agreed directly, not even asking for compensation for borrowing the Blasphemy Card, nor mentioning a return time.

After settling one matter, Lei Kedun turned his head to look at Sasilier beside him:

I want a drop of your mythical creature's blood; what do I need to offer in exchange?

Although directly asking Sasilier would surely give it, that would rely on the favors and help I've accumulated before, and shouldn't be used unnecessarily. I just want to gain some mystical knowledge by analyzing the mythical creature's blood.

Sasilier seemed to have anticipated Lei Kedun's proposal already; the next moment, it gave its answer:

Help me find the Dreamer, Tyrant, Sun, and White Tower; the saint-level characteristics of these several pathways, and if possible, with angelic traits even better.

The extraordinary traits of the latter three pathways are concentrated in the hands of the Three Great Churches; those scattered outside are basically Series Five and below.

Bei Erna Dai spoke up to remind Lei Kedun of something.

He lightly nodded, pulling a faint smile as he said:

No problem, I have some news about the heavenly disaster; I'll find it as soon as possible, though I can't defeat an angel, even if its condition is poor.

You can chant my name.

As he spoke, Sasilier raised his right hand; the flesh on it twitched slightly, and specks of black, viscous liquid seeped from the skin's surface, increasing in number, they suddenly gathered and solidified, forming a black crystal the size of a fingernail.

It slightly tilted its palm, and that black crystal flew toward Lei Kedun.

He reached out and caught it; aside from a slight icy sensation, there was nothing else.

Get ready to use it again; although its essence is merely angel's blood, it holds a status close to Sequence 0.
