Chapter 310: The Sage of Concealment!

~9 min read 1,774 words

In the Rhodes Sea, the sky suddenly darkened, a wind sound rose whimpering, and a terrifyingly powerful spirit mixed with confusion and anger "swept" across the entire sea.

A moment later, "Sea King" Ian Cotman withdrew his gaze that had swept across the entire sea.

He silently gazed toward the direction of the Sonia Sea, his azure eyes suddenly profound, as if seeing the bolts of lightning constantly striking down from the distant horizon, feeling the anger coming from the Lord of Storms.

"Who has provoked my Lord, bringing down divine punishment?"

"The sea has been growing increasingly restless lately. Kavitua seems to be making moves as well."

Ian Cotman's voice gradually deepened. He sat quietly before the Storm Sacred Emblem, eyes slightly closed, waiting for possible developments.

Xim Island.

Klein, who had just boarded the ferry preparing to return to Bayam, was slightly taken aback. He looked with some confusion toward the sea to the northeast—the sky there was clear, without anything unusual.

Did I just hear thunder? he muttered to himself in puzzlement, then took his newspaper and sat quietly in his own seat, planning to find a chance after the ferry departed to divine above the gray fog.

The thought had barely formed in his mind when he suddenly felt a terrifyingly powerful gaze sweep across this sea with anger.

Rrip!

The newspaper in his hand had a corner torn off by his subconscious grip.

What happened? That sensation of being spied on just now—no, it was a blatant sweep, searching the entire sea. Was the Cardinal of the Storm Church known as the "Sea King" looking for something?

After a brief moment of thought, Klein pulled a gold pound from his pocket and casually flipped it twice in his hand.

Avoiding others' gazes, he flicked it up with a clang, then reached out and caught it.

He performed a simple divination and received the result that there was no danger.

Phew~ Though this kind of divination isn't necessarily accurate, it's at least a bit reassuring.

Deep within a part of the Sonia Sea.

Repton looked at the lightning showing no sign of ceasing, turned to look at Sasilier, and asked softly:

"With attacks of this intensity, won't the Goshenam soul you're herding be destroyed?"

Sasilier shook his head slightly, saying without any concern:

"As long as the characteristic remains, it's fine. At my level, the soul is no longer a necessary condition for herding. I can fully animate and herd the Calamity characteristic."

I thought you'd say that Calamity has greater resistance to lightning and could completely withstand it, Repton muttered in his heart.

Then he heard Sasilier's answer:

"Goshenam risked drawing out the self of that portion of consciousness I was herding precisely to commit suicide, while simultaneously exposing me to Leodero's gaze."

Repton nodded gently, then asked with some curiosity:

"You plan to take that Calamity characteristic from under His gaze?"

The Fury you speak of will hack a path all the way from the Sonia Sea to the Southern Continent!

Sasilier shook his head slightly. His voice was flat as he spoke a name:

"The Sage of Concealment."

"The Aurora Order cannot yet become the target of a joint effort by the three great Churches."

Repton looked at Sasilier with considerable surprise, then replied with a teasing remark:

"The Aurora Order has long been the joint target of all the Churches."

After a round of interaction with Sasilier, he felt that this former Left Hand of God, Vice-Monarch of Heaven, was quite easy to get along with, and he was no longer as restrained as he had been at the very beginning.

Sasilier fell silent for a moment, then said in a rather helpless tone:

"Whether from their respective standpoints or the Aurora Order's style of action, being hostile toward the orthodox Church deities is inevitable."

Just as Sasilier finished speaking, Repton saw the lightning that had enveloped the entire seabed gradually fade away. At the position where Goshenam's spirit body had been, only scattered points of azure light remained, slowly converging.

The converging points of light seemed drawn to the location, beginning to float upward.

Sasilier raised the cane held in his right hand and gently tossed it forward.

The cane instantly left his hand, transforming into a substantive shadow that shot out of the Spirit World, enveloping the continuously gathering light from above like a curtain of shadow, isolating it from the outside.

An angry gaze was cast into the Spirit World, toward the location where Repton and Sasilier were.

Repton immediately began chanting the honorific name of the Sage of Concealment:

"Sage who perceives all the world, Eye that peeks at truth, incarnation of endless knowledge and spiritual numbers!"

The tranquil Spirit World suddenly echoed with a whimpering wind, accompanied by flashes of lightning. A continuously brewing aura of destruction spread through the surroundings.

The surrounding Spirit World region became terrifying, as if merely stepping into it would mean descending into an abyss of destruction.

Repton couldn't help but swallow, turning to look at Sasilier beside him and asking:

"Are you sure the Lord of Storms won't discover you?"

Sasilier nodded gently and said:

"Though I lack authority over concealment, shadow is inherently accompanied by hiding, and that Fury does not possess authority related to foresight or peering."

What responded to Sasilier's words was the continuously falling lightning—some of it striking the curtain of shadow that covered the Calamity characteristic, some falling upon the surrounding Spirit World region.

Unable to find the target hidden in the dark, the Lord of Storms decisively chose blanket bombardment, letting a forest of thunder filled with a violent aura of destruction envelop everything around.

Falling along with the lightning was also a "light" that could not be directly observed by the naked eye.

This light had no physical form, as if composed of stream after stream of vast and chaotic information, moving like a torrent in an illusory manner.

It ignored the rolling bolts of lightning, crossed the distance of space, and instantly enveloped the place where Repton and Sasilier were.

Repton felt himself swept along, leaving the Spirit World and arriving in the deep sea, yet without feeling the slightest presence of the seawater around him, as if the two existed in different dimensions.

The illusory light swallowed the Calamity characteristic covered by the curtain of shadow, then, braving the majesty of the thunder, charged into the Spirit World, surging like a torrent toward the distance.

The power from concealment caused the Lord of Storms to quickly lose the trail of the Sage of Concealment.

"Sage of Concealment... hmph!"

A cold snort resounded from high above, carrying rolling thunderstorms. The weather across the entire sea turned overcast due to his anger.

Bayam, inside the Azure Wind Inn.

Because the Storm Church has been investigating these past two days, Daniz has remained in his hotel room without going out; even his meals are only delivered by the hotel staff after he has gone through layers of disguise.

Daniz looked out through the glass window at the sky outside that had suddenly turned gloomy, and he murmured with some worry and confusion:

"What happened again today? That obvious "scan" just now is very much like the method the captain said the Storm Church's "Sea King" uses."

"That Gé'ěrmàn just happened to go out; could it be that he was discovered and then got into a fight with the Storm Church people?"

"I should find a chance to leave the now-dangerous Biyamu, but the captain hasn't contacted me yet, and I still don't know where the Golden Dream Ship is."

Tu Ba Ge, lounging on the sofa, glanced at Daniz muttering to himself aside and sneered:

"Gé'ěrmàn won't be discovered; his disguise has almost no flaws, and unless someone is very familiar with him, there's no way to notice any problem."

"No flaws? Is he some kind of makeup master?"

Daniz turned his head to look at Tu Ba Ge, his eyes flickering slightly; he stepped closer and put on an appeasing smile, saying:

"Handsome Mr. Rabbit, you said Gé'ěrmàn must have trained in the assassin organization, right? His whole body exudes a cold, terrifying aura."

Tu Ba Ge gave Daniz a contemptuous look and said:

"Your method of gathering information is too clumsy; even a three‑year‑old wouldn't fall for it."

"You damn fat rabbit, can't you speak properly?!" Daniz gritted his teeth, mimicking Tu Ba Ge's contemptuous gaze, and glared back, saying:

"Then why do you think Gé'ěrmàn·Sīpáluó didn't take you with him when he went out? Is he annoyed by your trouble, or does he have some secret he's keeping from you?"

Tu Ba Ge looked at Daniz with the eyes of one looking at an idiot, his voice full of blatant scorn, and said:

"I'm just a rabbit; if he went about in different identities while always bringing me along, wouldn't that expose himself?"

Daniz froze for a moment, then walked over to a nearby armchair and lay down quietly. "Well, I feel I'm not as wise as a rabbit, Captain; from now on I'll never skip morning class again!"

The outermost part of Luoside Archipelago, Olawei Island.

A "radiance" that the vast majority of extraordinary beings cannot see surges out from the spirit world; it seems to be composed of a tangle of information, taking an illusory form and descending upon Olawei Island like a flood.

As the radiance faded, the figures of Leikeddun and Sasilier became visible.

The radiance then sank back into the spirit world, moving like a flood and quickly disappearing from sight.

"Gaining the trait of a natural disaster lets me add many means when facing extraordinary abilities of the solar domain."

Sasilier's tone seemed to carry a hint of pleasure.

In his hand, a mass of azure light condensed into a deep‑blue staff, which he casually gripped.

Leikeddun turned his head to glance at the other party and let out a light laugh, saying:

"Are you planning to pasture a sun‑path angel?"

"If the chance arises, I don't mind pasturing a sun‑path angel."

Sasilier replied in a very flat tone.

"There will be an opportunity."

"As the apocalypse draws near, the conflicts among the gods will intensify, and the Divine War could break out at any moment."

Leikeddun replied with great certainty, paused briefly, and then brought up a new topic:

"Do you have time to accompany me on another trip to the deep sea? I need some help."

Hearing that, Sasilier looked at Leikeddun with a hint of doubt, then gave a slight nod and said:

"Sure."
