Chapter 318: Secret Pact Ritual
Bayam, Ruean residential district.
After the previous clash between Rekdun and Mahams, the people living here had undergone a small-scale migration, especially in the villa district, where quite a few garden villas had been left vacant.
Rekdun casually found a vacant villa in a reasonably good location and laid a layer of concealment around it; to anyone passing by, it still appeared to be an unoccupied villa with no one currently staying there.
After arranging a place for Latitia and her companions, and leaving the little paper figure beside her to help them evade the Storm Church's screening, Rekdun withdrew the will attached to the paper figure.
He paced from the glass window of the spacious bedroom, gazing at the heavy dark clouds gathering in the distance that had yet to take shape.
A storm was already brewing on the distant sea, and many vessels in the port had been forced to suspend operations.
The weather was growing increasingly violent; it seemed that Kavitua's collapse was only a matter of a day or two. As he mused, he heard a rumbling sound from high above.
When he looked up, he saw airships painted deep blue appearing in midair, flying toward different areas.
On the streets outside, Ruean soldiers in red coats, white trousers, and black leather boots marched past in unison, rifles on their shoulders.
His Inspiration stirred slightly; he raised his eyes slightly and saw a pale yellow sheet of paper bearing a sunflower pattern fall from the Spirit World.
He reached out to catch it, gave the paper a small shake, and held the content before his eyes:
"The form of Kavitua, the 'Sea God' worshipped by the indigenous people of the Rosad Islands, is on the verge of collapse, and His mental state is extremely deranged. The cause is related to that adventuress-attired lady you were searching for on Sim Island."
"Regarding the ruins where Kavitua is hiding, do you have any better methods if approaching from the Spirit World?"
The brief description and question—Rekdun recognized at a glance that this was a question Klein had written on the letter paper from Tu Ba Ge.
Holding the letter paper, he walked to the other side of the bed, rummaged through the bedside cabinet, and found a brand-new round-bellied fountain pen.
He scribbled casually on the paper a couple of times, saw there was still ink, and wrote his reply directly beneath Klein's question:
"She took the 'Book of Calamity.' That book originated from the Calamity Queen and incorporates part of Her Beyonder characteristic; it also conceals part of Her consciousness, serving as a contingency for resurrection."
"As for Kavitua, it is a lucky sea serpent that scavenged an opportunity, directly fusing with and mastering a portion of the 'Sea King' characteristic. With its luck, if it walked the Destiny Pathway, it might have become a Prophet."
"If you want to find the ruins where it is hiding, you can try establishing a connection with it through the method of sacrifice and bestowal."
"At Sequence 3, one can already respond to prayers within a certain range."
"Kavitua's honorific title is: Votary of the Sea and the Spirit World, Protector of the Rosad Islands, Ruler of Undersea Creatures, Controller of Tsunamis and Storms, the great Kavitua."
Dock district, inside the Azure Wind Inn.
Klein sat upright at the long table; on the table before him lay the pale yellow paper on which he had written his questions about the 'Sea God' Kavitua.
After about a minute or two, he saw new handwriting emerge on the paper before him, flowing in several lengthy paragraphs beneath his own question.
Klein held the paper and carefully read Rekdun's reply.
A moment later, he set the pale yellow paper on the table before him, leaned back against the chair, and fell into thought.
"Book of Calamity," a contingency for the Calamity Queen's resurrection... The Calamity Queen—I remember the Sun mentioned Her; in the records of Silver City, She was the queen of the Elf King Sunia Sollem. How did things suddenly get tangled up with the queen of an ancient god?
A lucky sea serpent indeed—to directly accommodate a Sequence 3 characteristic without losing control. When I advanced to Faceless, I felt I wasn't far from losing control myself. Is the gap between a person and a sea serpent really that large? Prophet should be Sequence 2 of the Destiny Pathway.
Use a sacrificial ritual to establish a connection with that Sea God... Klein casually pulled a gold coin from his pocket. Clink! He flicked the coin into the air, and it fell back into his palm.
Heads up—affirmative!
"Indeed feasible."
Klein murmured softly.
"What's feasible? What are you trying to do now?"
Daniz, half-reclined in the easy chair, heard Klein's murmur and reflexively leapt up from the chair, eyeing Klein with vigilance, afraid the other would do something startling again at this moment.
Klein glanced at Daniz with eyes as placid as a still well, and spoke before the man could shrink back:
"Go rent a warehouse for me, preferably somewhere with little foot traffic."
"Rent a warehouse? Are you stockpiling supplies?"
Daniz asked in puzzlement, turning his head to glance at the sky outside the window, where a storm had been brewing all along.
"You don't need to know," Klein replied coldly.
Daniz pursed his lips, angry but not daring to speak, and quietly sat back in the easy chair without another word.
Seeing Daniz fall quiet, Klein picked up the fading paper and gave it a couple of small shakes; the handwriting on it automatically dissipated.
He picked up the fountain pen beside him and wrote a new question on the paper:
"Why doesn't Kavitua simply use His own believer as a vessel to shed His current body on the verge of losing control?"
A moment later, beneath Klein's original question, new handwriting emerged:
"Kavitua's connection with the Calamity Queen is very deep; the body He wishes to pollute and occupy must possess a certain amount of elven bloodline."
"Of course, having some connection to the Forsaken Land of the Gods would make you a better choice; the Chaos Sea and the City of Calamity would also work, but He cannot reach those existences—and of course, even if He could, He wouldn't be able to defeat them."
Roughly matching my guess, but the Chaos Sea and the City of Calamity—these two sources have also established connections with certain existences? Isn't this world a bit too dangerous?
Muttering silently to himself, Klein stood up from his chair, preparing to return to his room to rest.
Just as he was about to return the letter paper to Tu Ba Ge, his Inspiration stirred again, and new handwriting emerged on the letter paper.
Rekdun immediately brought the letter paper before his eyes; on it were two concise lines:
"Regarding the previous question, there is another method: seek help from 'Red Light' El Moria. He embodies authority and will, and to a certain extent possesses knowledge related to Spirit World creatures and Spirit World locations."
Shouldn't this method of seeking help from others have been his first choice? Why was it left for last instead? After advancing to demigod, his changes seemed rather significant... Klein pondered, feeling that this might not be a particularly good thing.
I hope Miss Justice has already become a qualified psychotherapist—she's about to have a patient. I need to keep an eye out for the subsequent formula of the Spectator Pathway; the higher Miss Justice's sequence, the more likely she can discover and resolve the problem.
He casually handed the letter paper in his hand to Tu Ba Ge, turned around, and went back to his room.
He rummaged through his trunk and found a bottle of Holy Night powder, sprinkled a circle along the walls of the room, and extended his spirituality to create a wall of spirituality both inside and outside the formation.
He searched rapidly through the room, assembling a less-than-complete set of ritual items.
Hmm, Red Light probably wouldn't care too much about such details. Judging from His attitude last time, I wouldn't even need a ritual—just casually chanting His honorific title would get Him to respond.
As he thought, Klein had already skillfully set up a rudimentary ritual.
Phew~ He looked at the ritual he had arranged and let out a long breath. If this were used to pray to the Goddess, it would count as disrespectful.
Shaking his head slightly, he suppressed the chaotic thoughts in his mind and gently rubbed his fingers together.
A popping sound rang out; on the ground, the prepared candles quickly shot up flames.
Klein stepped back and, using the Ancient Hermes language, chanted:
"The eternal light of the spirit world, the embodiment of endless knowledge, the red of authority and will."
Klein repeatedly chanted the honorific name "Red Light" of El Morelia twice, spreading out his spirit while adjusting his state.
Just as he was preparing for the third chant of the honorific name, the temperature in the room suddenly dropped a bit, and the light dimmed slightly.
The flickering flames on the candles were tinged with a deep red, constantly moving up and down, as if searching for a suitable frequency.
Klein's keen intuition sensed that something was about to break through the limits of the spirit world and descend into reality.
This won't directly turn into a god-descent ritual, will it?
Klein suddenly startled, he suddenly realized that the pact ritual is to unite one's body, mind, and spirit with a great existence, thereby gaining some knowledge.
Given the attitude of that 'Red Light' toward me, to show respect, He certainly would not directly enter that state of united body, mind, and spirit with me; therefore, He will probably descend directly.
Wanting to get to the crux of the matter, Klein hurriedly took out a paper figurine from the inner pocket of his clothes, swiftly shook it out, and flung it to the very center of the ritual.
Hopefully this 'Red Light' will understand my meaning; otherwise, the Storm Church's tense spirit will be stimulated again.
The paper figurine Klein shook out floated directly in mid-air, with an intangible power and will, passing through the barrier between the spirit world and reality, descending upon it.
The paper figurine instantly was tinged with a majestic red, with illusory red light swirling around it, as if wearing a great red robe.
