Chapter 387: Proposal
Lei Kedun stared expressionlessly at the Desire Apostle Trait that A Meng held in his hand, slipped his right hand into his pocket, fished out the Wheel of Fortune Card, confirmed it hadn't been swapped by A Meng, and only then he breathed a sigh of relief.
"The Wheel of Fortune Card inside the Profane Card? No wonder you could find such a die."
"Don't worry, I don't need this. It serves me no purpose; I already understand all twenty‑two Divine Paths. As for its aggregating ability, it's also useless to me. Whenever I wish, I can locate that stupid big serpent at any time."
A Meng chuckled lightly, his gaze at the Wheel of Fortune filled with disdain.
Lei Kedun offered no rebuttal to A Meng's words; at his level, the Profane Card truly was of little use—unless it was the Profane Card corresponding to the Fool and the Gate, which could have some optional effect on him.
Lei Kedun, slightly curious, looked at A Meng and asked:
"Do you know where the Error Card is?"
"I know. If you become my devotee, I'll tell you, and I can also help you steal the Prophet Master Trait from within your body, making you a Deceptive Mentor."
A Meng's voice, full of seductive intent, said:
The deep blue‑purple light in Lei Kedun's eyes flickered slightly, as if he could not resist the temptation.
After a brief pause, he blocked the influence of the Desire Apostle Trait on his emotions, then opened his mouth.
Boom—! Boom—! Rolling thunder suddenly roared, followed by streams of silvery‑white light sliding down from the high sky, falling straight toward the spot where Lei Kedun and A Meng stood.
The next moment, those silvery flashes vanished without a trace, as if they had never appeared.
Lei Kedun's gaze fell on the milky‑white die on the ground; its pips had somehow become a single dot.
He looked at A Meng and said evenly, "This die is backstabbing you."
A Meng glanced at the Probability Die on the ground and said calmly, "The Storm Church came seeking your scent, no wonder you showed no reaction to me holding that Desire Apostle Trait."
As he spoke, the Probability Die on the ground began to struggle and spin again.
Six up!
As if trying hard to please A Meng.
You're even less spirited than Aluodesi!
Internally muttering a scornful remark, Lei Kedun turned his head toward A Meng and said:
"The Storm Church's angel will soon arrive bearing a seal; their gaze is mostly on me. Don't you ever consider the proposal of stealing the Wave Church?"
A Meng, intrigued, sized up Lei Kedun, pinched the single crystal lens with his right hand, and a slight smile curled his mouth as he said:
"As you say, I am merely a demi‑god‑level avatar. Are you sure you want me to steal the Wave Church, rather than send me into its underground?"
"Or can you give me a reason I cannot refuse?"
Lei Kedun's right hand kept turning the Wheel of Fortune Card; specks of starlight fell from the card, as if lifting a seal, revealing the card's original appearance.
He glanced at the Probability Die on the ground; seeing it react not at all to the Wheel of Fortune in his hand, he stepped forward two paces, held the Wheel upright before his eyes, and, as if gazing through it at something, said calmly:
"You said, if I recite the revered name pointing to the Key of Light here, could I establish a connection with it? When that time comes, perhaps you will be fully revived, in another identity."
The Probability Die, lying still on the ground, began to wobble and spin endlessly, seemingly unsure which number should face up.
Lei Kedun quietly watched the die turning farther away, a faint smile tugging his lips, and whispered in Ancient Hermes tongue:
"Endless chaos, embodiment of fate."
After only two lines, the Probability Die rolled neatly to his foot, struck the sole, then wobbled back and stopped, showing a four. At the moment it was about to halt, the die, for unknown reason, rolled another turn, finally landing six up! Starlight speckled from Lei Kedun's hand, instantly contracting to cover the Wheel of Fortune, masking its special properties.
He smiled, bent down to pick up the die, turned and said to A Meng, "With this Probability Die fixed on six, I can't think of any reason to fail."
"Don't you find it amusing to see the Storm Lord fume and jump about, yet be helpless against you?"
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Responding to his words were not A Meng but thick bolts of lightning cracking down from the sky.
These lightning bolts, wrapped in near‑tangible destructive aura, fell like rain, yet conveniently missed Lei Kedun's position.
"You have successfully persuaded me, though I've long been capable of such deeds."
"Not only that Furious Folk, but also that dazzling, noisy Sun, which I angered to the point of dragging a carriage around this planet for over a dozen laps."
A Meng's figure suddenly appeared before Lei Kedun, boasting of his glorious deeds.
Within a forest outlined by silvery lightning, A Meng's mouth curled a playful smile as he glanced at the cloud‑shrouded sky, then withdrew his gaze, extending a hand to rest on Lei Kedun's shoulder.
The next moment, both figures abruptly vanished from the spot.
On the plaza outside the Wave Church, A Meng and Lei Kedun's figures suddenly materialized, as if teleported from far away.
The surrounding pedestrians, whether ordinary or extraordinary, noticed no abnormality, as if they hadn't seen the two extra silhouettes appear.
Lei Kedun scanned the surroundings; he could be sure his figure entered people's sight, yet they instinctively ignored him. Did he just steal his own presence?
Enmat Street wasn't close, yet A Meng could so easily shift our location here; does he also have an avatar here?
As his thoughts turned, he had already followed A Meng's steps to the front gate of the Wave Church.
Recently, Bayam has been somewhat desolate, yet the number of worshippers coming to the Wave Church has not decreased but increased. Clerics and believers passed by Lei Kedun repeatedly, and without exception, they all ignored him standing at the church entrance.
A Meng slightly curled his lips, his gaze surveying the Wave Church as if appraising all his possessions.
The church's roof was a forest of spires, like deep‑blue arrows piercing the heavens, appearing even more majestic and sacred under the oppressive clouds.
A Meng's gaze delved deep into the Wave Church, and his voice, tinged with amusement, said, "Actually, I'm more interested in stealing the church of that Betrayal Dragon; that old dragon, so brooding, has never truly been angered by me."
Lei Kedun twirled the milky‑white Probability Die in his left hand and replied evenly, "The Knowledge Church is famed for rationality; stealing a knowledge church isn't as entertaining as toying with these Furious Folk."
"Indeed, developing you into my devotee is far more interesting than stealing his church."
A Meng laughed lightly along with Lei Kedun.
"." Lei Kedun fell silent briefly, then brushed past the topic and said, "Do you need me to draw those people out of the church?"
A Meng lifted his hand, adjusted the single crystal lens over his right eye, and said eagerly,
"No need, that makes it more interesting."
"What a pity the angry folk's angel isn't here; otherwise the scene would be even more entertaining!"
"If that angel were here, we would already be drowned in lightning now," Lei Kedun muttered inwardly.
He tossed the Probability Die in his left hand toward A Meng, while extending his right hand to pull an illusory hat from the void and placed it on his head.
His figure vanished instantly, erasing all traces.
". Mystery reappears? Interesting spell."
"If I want to steal all your spell abilities, it seems I'd still need to go through a great deal of effort."
