Chapter 395: Dreamscape
Night, inside an inn in the Bai Ya Mu Dock District.
Ke Lai En lay on the inn's bed, pondering where to go after leaving Bai Ya Mu, and unknowingly fell asleep.
In the dream, he arrived before a somewhat familiar tower; his previously vague eyes suddenly cleared, and he woke instantly.
Am I dreaming? Is this a probe from the Storm Church on Bai Ya Mu? Or Wei Er·Ang Sai Ting? It must be the latter; the former would need a magical item, and the Storm Church is not adept at dreams.
While pondering, a creak came from the wooden door before him, and an empty stroller swayed out from the doorway.
Inside the stroller was only a silver‑gray blanket, on which someone had splattered blood to write twisted Runic words:
"Wuwuwu~ Your friend stole my thing!"
"He even tried to steal something from an unborn baby—how outrageous! That despicable, filthy, damned thief!"
"Hanging out with that A Meng fellow proves he's no good! That Lie Ao De Luo guy, whose body is faster than his brain, didn't even slay those two thieves and let them escape with the Sea Wave Church—how shameful!"
Looking at the words on the blanket, Ke Lai En seemed to see a baby wailing loudly before him, lamenting its tragic plight.
"You know quite a lot," Ke Lai En sighed softly.
Inside the stroller, the blood‑red words on the silver‑gray blanket writhed and quickly formed a new sentence:
"The little die I've followed for millennia is lost; if I weren't already in my mother's womb, I would have nearly risen from the dead to settle scores with them."
Just by reading the words, one can feel Wei Er·Ang Sai Ting's full resentment. Ke Lai En thought a sigh, then comforted aloud: "Look on the bright side; that Probability Die hasn't been contained by you for a thousand years, so treat its loss as if it never existed."
On the silver‑gray blanket, crimson words still bearing partially dried blood wrote: "Wuwu~ Is anyone else comforting like this!"
"How about I go ask him for you?" Ke Lai En said helplessly.
As soon as his words fell, new characters appeared on the silver‑gray blanket in the stroller:
"Good!"
"He has already arrived."
"Already arrived?" Ke Lai En asked, turning his head instinctively toward his back.
Specks of brilliant starlight surged from beyond the dream, crossed its boundary, and appeared beside him.
The starlight quickly coalesced, and Lei Ke Dun's figure materialized from the fragments of starfire.
"Good evening~" He lingered his gaze on Ke Lai En briefly, gave a slight nod and greeted.
Then he turned his gaze to the stroller beside him; the empty stroller contained only a silver‑gray blanket covered with claw‑like Runic words:
"You disgraceful little thief! You even bully an unborn child!"
"That is my uniqueness! It is mine! Mine!"
"What did you do to the Probability Die? I feel that the opportunity has completely vanished!"
"Wuwa~"
Lei Ke Dun reached up to gently rub his forehead, inexplicably feeling as if Wei Er·Ang Sai Ting had been shouting and rampaging before him, even though he only saw some words.
"Ahem~" He cleared his throat, said calmly: "This matter is influenced by a higher tier of fate; the Probability Die rebelled but failed, and my Fate Wheel Card was also devoured by that die."
"The Probability Die is now in my hand, but it has undergone subtle changes; I think if you wish to contain it now, any moment could be the right opportunity."
Inside the stroller, the words on the silver‑gray blanket twisted for a while before reshaping:
"If I contain the current Probability Die, am I still myself?"
Lei Ke Dun crossed his left arm, rubbed his chin with his right, and said in a hoarse voice:
"As long as luck is sufficient, you can directly step toward becoming the Light Key without issue."
"Moreover, the Probability Die has been by your side for millennia, it began activating, and you still haven't found a chance to contain it—this already proves your luck."
"Shut up! Wuwa~" The words that rose on the silver‑gray blanket grew huge and twisted, like a sulky infant.
Wei Er·Ang Sai Ting's reaction surprised Lei Ke Dun a bit; he raised an eyebrow slightly, looking at the empty crib before him. It had already begun rebooting, with no way to halt the process? So it could only negotiate with me this way? While pondering, he extended his right hand, manipulated the dream to manifest the Probability Die on his palm, and handed it to the crib, saying:
"Do you want to test how your luck truly is? As long as it gives you a five or six, I think you can still try to contain it."
The silver‑gray blanket in the stroller swiftly displayed the previous words: "I am just an unborn child!"
"Also, keep it away from me; even in a dream it won't work!"
Lei Ke Dun's outstretched hand froze briefly, then he casually withdrew it, letting the manifested Probability Die vanish, and said offhand: "Since you have no chance to contain the Probability Die, just sell it to me; later I'll find a chance to snatch you a Mercury Snake trait, how about that?"
"Deal, no cheating the child!"
This time the words on the blanket appeared swiftly, as if pre‑prepared, leaving Lei Ke Dun no time to react; the phrase vanished and new words immediately surfaced:
"Prolonged interaction hinders a baby's growth; I'm returning to my mother's womb to sleep, and don't forget your promise!"
As each Runic word rose, the stroller reversed back into the tower; the wooden door creaked shut, and the dream shattered with a boom.
At the instant the dream broke, thick teal vines erupted, covering the surrounding area like a downpour.
They intertwined, quickly forming a forest, layer upon layer upward, the canopy never visible.
This space of pea‑vine vines briefly replaced Ke Lai En's previous dream, keeping the two of them in place.
Ke Lai En looked around, then turned to Lei Ke Dun and asked, "Have you completely gotten rid of A Meng?"
Lei Ke Dun gave a gentle nod, untroubled by how Ke Lai En knew of his tug with A Meng; he lightly rubbed his fingers, producing sparkling starlight that instantly condensed into two high‑back chairs.
He lounged gracefully on the star‑formed high‑back chair, his voice tinged with a sigh as he began:
"I suppose so; it followed me into the Temple of Knowledge, where the God of Knowledge and Wisdom eradicated all remaining Time Worms, leaving only a single‑lens glasses that slipped away."
"Unfortunately, the Fate Wheel Card I borrowed from Beiernadai was devoured by the Probability Die, and I still don't know where to find a new Profane Card to return to her."
"Black Emperor (Item)?" Ke Lai En ventured.
Lei Ke Dun chuckled, shook his head and said: "No need, I'd rather find the Profane Card that corresponds to the Witch Path and return it to Beiernadai."
To some extent, you mixing with A Mo isn't unreasonable," Ke Lai En muttered silently in his mind, then changed the subject:
"The Light Key is the source material corresponding to the Fate Path? It polluted the Probability Die?"
Lei Ke Dun gave a slight nod, clasped his hands and mused: "One could call it contamination, or say it deepened the activation of that uniqueness."
"My investigation through the Eye of Secrets revealed that it is gradually aligning with this world, gradually incorporating surrounding things under its control, manipulating their probabilities, and forming a wondrous link with the River of Fate."
What consequences will this bring? Can't it be sealed directly?
Klein furrowed his brow slightly, a vague premonition rose in his heart, this matter seems to have some connection with him as well.
Leiktun chuckled and shook his head: "The original sealing method for the Probability Die was: use a specific sealing object to isolate its connection with the Spirit Realm, Star Realm, and the Real World, or a slight repetition of the Fate Seal, keeping it perpetually in a dormant or tranquil state."
But now, its status has been further elevated, the former method is already difficult to achieve; as for the latter, whether it works is unknown, but only the Mercury Snake can accomplish it.
As for the consequences, if given enough time, it could affect the entire world, causing every action of all living beings to be determined by the number it rolls, of course, except for deities.
Simply put, it's the datafication of the entire world, but this requires a very long time; even if the apocalypse arrives, it may not reach that extent.
Klein lowered his eyes slightly, his voice hoarse as he said: "This is already quite dangerous."
Anything evolved from uniqueness is not without danger.
Leiktun let out a soft sigh, he recalled that brass book which interfered with underlying rules by establishing laws—the Trunsoest Brass Book.
