Chapter 433: Class

Bury and Ritz exchanged a glance, nodded, and said in unison:

"We know—the things of your Church of Knowledge."

"It requires five or more Priests of Light to pray to the deity for recharging, and can only be used ten times before it needs to be recharged again."

Seeing them answer so clearly, Rekton gave a slight nod without much surprise, then said with a light chuckle:

"We could perfectly use the main ingredient of a Priest of Light's potion as an energy source. As long as the characteristic doesn't dissipate, there'd be no need to worry about recharging at all."

Bury, while holding a quill and making edits on the blueprint, said:

"A Priest of Light is Sequence 5. Just one portion of materials costs four to five thousand pounds. Even if you sold us, we still couldn't afford it."

Rekton smiled with little concern, then said:

"If you had a characteristic of the Sun or Storm pathway, would you have a way to forge it into an energy supply device?"

"Just like how a Priest of Light recharges the Purification Cannon."

"It's not a matter of whether we can do it—to achieve the effect you described, you'd need at least a demigod-level characteristic, or multiple Priest of Light characteristics."

Bury's tone was full of helplessness; this kind of fanciful question was simply making things difficult for cats.

Ritz nodded in agreement and said:

"We're just mechanical experts. What you're talking about would require at least an Alchemist, or even an Arcanist, to accomplish."

Rekton thought it over seriously, then murmured:

"I understand. After you've built Britz, I can first get some low-Sequence characteristics for you to practice with. If it can be realized, I'll find a way to obtain a demigod-level characteristic."

"Where are you going to get a demigod-level characteristic?" Ritz looked up and asked reflexively.

"The Church of Storms and the Church of the Eternal Blazing Sun, of course. The characteristics of both pathways are concentrated in their hands."

Rekton had barely finished explaining when he saw Bury and Ritz—the two cats—staring at him with wide eyes, then exchanging glances with each other, communicating through their gazes for a moment, before tacitly shuffling two steps backward.

Somewhat speechless, Rekton swept a glance over the two cats, then simply lowered his head and started eating the biscuits on the desk, taking a sip of coffee from time to time.

By Backlund time, around three in the afternoon, Rekton arrived once more at the Pas Valley First Technical University, heading straight to the classroom where Glen had taught that morning.

Every single one of the students from the morning session was seated in the classroom, quietly flipping through the books in front of them. Rekton glanced around—these were the very books he had delivered that morning.

His gaze swept around the classroom, and he quickly noticed Ethan sitting by the window. He asked with some curiosity:

"Why are you here too?"

"As a wizard, I'm also quite curious about this kind of spellcasting system. I figured I'd see if I could pick up a useful little spell or two along the way—I've been trying to develop some spells of my own."

"Alright, respected Mr. Tyneths, please begin your class now!"

Ethan responded with a light chuckle, then pointed sincerely at the small blackboard behind Rekton and said:

Rekton shrugged, not caring whether the other man was here to attend the lecture or to help keep order. His gaze swept around the classroom; he saw that the looks people directed at him held curiosity, puzzlement, and what seemed to be some anticipation as well.

An angel in the morning and a saint in the afternoon—if word got out, probably no one would dare believe it. Sighing inwardly, he turned around and wrote his name on the small blackboard behind him, then gave a brief self-introduction.

After finishing his self-introduction, without waiting for anyone to raise questions, he launched straight into his lecture:

"I imagine you're all already familiar with the Spirit World Sorcerer system. As its name suggests, it's a system that relies on the Spirit World. The relevant details will be explained to you by the clergy of the Church of Knowledge, so I'll just give you a brief introduction to the Spirit World."

"First, we can be certain that the Spirit World truly exists. It is woven from all kinds of information, a world that overlaps completely with the real world—fully overlapping, yet mutually non-interfering. One must rely on extraordinary power to break through the barrier between them."

"The Spirit World involves the transcendent 'I,' the infinite 'I,' the cosmic 'I.'"

"This is difficult to explain to you forcibly. You'll just have to experience it yourselves after you've had more contact with it later on. Perhaps each of you will form your own understanding."

A boy of about seventeen or eighteen sitting in front of Rekton raised his hand somewhat hesitantly. After receiving Rekton's go-ahead, he asked in somewhat halting Intisian:

"Mr. Tyneths, this morning Ms. Pars told us about divination. She also mentioned the Spirit World, saying it's the source from which we receive revelations when we divine."

"Um, sorry, I've said too much. What I wanted to ask was—regarding the Spirit World, are Beyonders still in the process of exploring it, with no very definitive conclusion yet?"

Rekton was somewhat surprised by the question. After sizing the other person up for a moment, he chuckled softly and said:

"In the extraordinary world, knowledge isn't as freely circulated as you might imagine. In the extraordinary domain, knowledge itself possesses power, which also leads to limitations on the spread of knowledge."

"Moreover, knowledge is never something that can be obtained for free. Just as you are now—you've gained knowledge, but you must also shoulder the corresponding obligations."

"Heh, I've gone too far afield. Back to your earlier question—regarding the Spirit World, there is most certainly a definitive conclusion. After all, among the existing Great Ones, including the hidden beings, one of them is the sovereign of the Spirit World."

"The sovereign of the Spirit World? There's such a Great One? Why have I never heard of Him?"

Ethan frowned and looked at Rekton. He had been somewhat worried that the other man would loudly proclaim the God of Knowledge and Wisdom, attempting to win over these people's faith. He hadn't expected him to steer the topic toward an unknown hidden being. Was this guy really not a cultist planted as a mole inside the Church of Knowledge?

"In the not-too-distant future, you'll know. His followers aren't too many, and he isn't aggressively proselytizing at the moment either."

Rekton gave Ethan a reassuring glance, then continued:

"Any system that draws power from the Spirit World can't bypass Him. You'll inevitably come into contact with Him and the organizations that worship Him in the future."

Just as he finished speaking, a slightly older young man who looked about twenty-three or twenty-four immediately raised his hand and asked:

"Will this bring danger? This morning, when Ms. Pars was teaching us about mirror divination, she mentioned that establishing a connection with an unknown hidden being is an extremely dangerous thing."

Rekton chuckled along with the other's words and said:

"Generally speaking, no. In fact, when you encounter some trouble, you can even try seeking His help. Following the principle of equivalent exchange, you just need to pay a price—it can be gold pounds, or some knowledge, or some magical items and the like. As long as it's equivalent to the help received, that's fine."

"Of course, if someone commits an act of blasphemy, they will naturally face divine punishment."

"Mr. Tyneths, may we... know who He is?"

The boy who had first asked Rekton a question couldn't hold back his curiosity and spoke up to ask again.

Is this guy really a follower of the God of Knowledge and Wisdom? So openly proclaiming a hidden being—it feels even more zealous than proclaiming the God of Knowledge and Wisdom. Ethan leaned against the wall, narrowing his eyes slightly as he looked at Rekton. Recalling that Ms. Glen had said the other man was a follower of "Knowledge" this morning, he felt some doubts arise in his heart.

Rekton paused for about two seconds. Seeing that Ethan had no intention of stopping him, he then answered the earlier question:

"He calls Himself 'the Fool,' the great sovereign who rules the Spirit World, the King of Yellow and Black who holds dominion over good fortune, the beacon that every living being pursues for eternity, dwelling above both reality and the Spirit World, with six angels currently serving at His side..."

After introducing "the Fool," the students in the classroom, Ethan included, all fell into deep thought.

Rekton's gaze swept around the room, and he sighed inwardly. I remember my original plan was to add anchors for myself. How did it turn into proclaiming Klein's name...

"'The Fool'... Mr. Prak once mentioned this hidden being to me. He said the Aurora Order had been aggressively searching for His followers and believers in Backlund."

Ethan murmured to himself, then turned to look at Rekton as if seeking confirmation.

Reckon nodded gently, affirming the other's guess:

"Yes, in Backlund there are His dependents."

Miss "Justice" and Miss "Magician," as well as Mr. "Moon," and the future Mr. "Star" are all in Backlund—every member of the Tarot Club can be considered Klein's dependents, including himself.

Pausing briefly, he tapped the small blackboard behind him twice with his finger, producing a knock-knock sound.

Once the students' attention returned to him, he continued speaking:

"Let us continue our earlier topic. I will introduce several relatively safe spirit world creatures whose characteristics are quite practical."

The students' interest was immediately aroused, and even Ethan straightened his posture slightly, looking as though he were listening attentively.

Reckon did not pause and immediately went on:

"The first kind of spirit world creature is called White Paper. They are a very weak type of spirit world creature, appearing as a nearly transparent, blurry bubble."

"Aside from the inherent trait of being a spirit world creature difficult for ordinary people to see, it has only one characteristic: it can bear a Contractor's certain Beyonder ability, but it cannot be too strong or too complex."

"A weak spell does not mean it is impractical. For a Spirit World Practitioner who has just begun, this is just right."

As soon as Reckon finished speaking, soft exclamations and whispered discussions arose in the classroom:

"So amazing!"

"There's actually such a spirit world creature—it really is just like blank paper used for recording information!"

"I really want to summon one of these 'White Papers' right now."

After letting the students discuss for a moment, Reckon tapped the small blackboard behind him with his finger again. Once the surroundings quieted down, he began introducing the day's second spirit world creature:

"The second kind of spirit world creature is called the Knowledge Rabbit. Also a relatively weak spirit world creature, they are fairly friendly toward humans and have a natural thirst for knowledge, rarely refusing a summoning."

"At the same time, they also possess a considerable amount of knowledge, can speak and write, and are fluent in multiple languages. They can quickly extract key points from large volumes of knowledge, and they generally will not refuse requests that use knowledge as payment. The textbooks in your hands were copied by them for me."

"Their summoning incantation is: Spirit wandering amid illusion, friendly creature that can communicate, rabbit-shaped spirit body blessed by knowledge."

The students looked at each other for a while, suddenly feeling that they were inferior to a rabbit.

The boy closest to Reckon murmured in a low voice:

"In other words, if I asked a Knowledge Rabbit to extract the key points from the textbook, and the payment was the knowledge within the textbook, since it would be knowledge already mastered, it wouldn't agree to my request?"

A thoughtful young man, suited to become a Secret Seeker—the Concealed Sage would be most happy to instill knowledge in you. Reckon sighed inwardly after hearing the other's quiet muttering.
