Chapter 455: The Rabbit and the Cats' Adventure

~9 min read 1,636 words

A Er Fu Lei De's gaze weighed heavily as he scanned the surroundings; he saw the subordinates who had been joking and greeting him during the day now sprawled in a disordered heap around him.

He closed his eyes briefly, and when he opened them again his eyes held a restrained emotion, revealing no feeling as he turned his head toward Mei Sang Ye Si, who had long been waiting here.

He wore a black military dress uniform, its buttons flashing golden light in the moonlight, and its medals a vivid blood‑red.

"You have already chosen a side? This attack was pre‑planned as well?"

Mei Sang Ye Si smiled lightly and said to A Er Fu Lei De:

"The Southern Continent needs only one voice, and you outsiders will inevitably be expelled."

Brilliant star‑rays suddenly fell beside A Er Fu Lei De; they instantly coalesced into a massive transparent amber that completely enveloped him, confining him to his original spot.

A Er Fu Lei De had not yet reacted when extreme fatigue and drowsiness surged into his mind; after a brief two‑second resistance, he could not stop himself from sinking into deep sleep.

Lei Ke Dun's figure twisted briefly and instantly appeared beside Mei Sang Ye Si; he looked at the "Colonel" radiating a murderous aura and reminded him aloud:

"Do not kill indiscriminately; they are bargaining chips in negotiations with Luen."

"Ha ha, of course, I would not do anything that harms my image, especially now."

"I will leave these matters to my deputy; although some mission‑executing troops are still roaming, after losing a demigod, Luen's forces can no longer control this region."

"Next is the Yin Di Si military on the Southern Bank; the emerging primal moonlight believers and those of the Rose School here still need you and Bishop Lu Ka to clean up."

Mei Sang Ye Si gave Lei Ke Dun a light nod, responded cheerfully, then turned his head toward Pu La Ke, whose silhouette stood out beside them.

Lei Ke Dun also shifted his gaze and saw the two objects Pu La Ke held; in his right hand was a transparent crystal skull exuding an indescribable authority, its very sight imposing a pressure.

In his left hand was a clenched semi‑transparent black fist; the fist conveyed raw power and an eerie vibe, its patterns, glints, and nails appearing normal yet brimming with discordant meaning, as if harboring great madness and chaos.

Pu La Ke summoned two nature spirits, entrusted the two trophies to them for sealing, and then led Mei Sang Ye Si through a spirit‑realm transit to the Southern Bank of Pa Si He Gu.

Watching the two depart, Lei Ke Dun looked down at his left palm, where a milky probability die lay quietly, its pips having subtly shifted to four.

"It can no longer be used," he murmured, then extended his right hand, opening a pale‑blue "door" in midair, and stepped straight through.

At a plantation around a bend in Pa Si He Gu stood one of the key strongholds of the primal moonlight believers in the valley, now besieged by Enforcers and Blood Clan led personally by Lu Ka Bu Lu Si Te.

The coffee trees originally cultivated here had all mutated into monsters: some shot up as hideously deformed treants; others sprouted cactus‑like spines that could be launched; some wildly extended roots and branches to ensnare everything they touched; and some branches and leaves took on a metallic sheen, like sharp blades flailing at any nearby creature.

Besides these trees, there were many altered beings similar to the earlier dolls, their bodies riddled with patchwork scars, making their original species unrecognizable.

Mixed among the monsters were a group of agile artificial vampires, and some extraordinary cultivators passing through the fields hid in the shadows, occasionally intervening in the battle.

"It feels like a plant‑versus‑zombie showdown—no, actually plants and zombies battling humanity."

Lei Ke Dun made a snide remark, and his figure swiftly sketched itself beside Tu Ba Ge.

Sensing the spiritual ripple nearby, Tu Ba Ge dragged Bu Li and Li Ci with him and darted dozens of meters away, then turned back to his previous spot.

Upon seeing that the newcomer was Lei Ke Dun, its furry face showed a human‑like relaxed expression and said:

"Eh~ Boss, why did you come?"

Lei Ke Dun glanced at the probability die in his hand, now showing three pips, and impatiently tossed it out, saying:

"Take this probability die; you can use it when danger arises."

Tu Ba Ge hurriedly reached out to catch the die falling toward him, but because one paw was holding a branch staff, it was awkward; the die struck his claw, then fell to the ground, still showing three pips up!

"I reasonably suspect this damned die is intentional." Lei Ke Dun stared at the three‑pip die on the ground and muttered inwardly.

"Three pips? What lousy luck."

Tu Ba Ge muttered softly, then went to pick up the die from the ground and tossed it again; this time six pips faced up!

"." Lei Ke Dun was utterly speechless about this apparently discriminatory probability die.

He turned his head toward Bu Li and Li Ci, asking in puzzlement:

"Why did you both come as well? Aren't you supposed to be building robots now?"

Bu Li and Li Ci exchanged a glance, then a cat‑like voice said:

"Ge Lan said we could come out to earn some funds."

"It's safer to follow the rabbit; we are not good at fighting."

Lei Ke Dun gave a slight nod, not paying attention to their claim that staying with Tu Ba Ge was safer.

Even without mentioning the miraculous items hanging from head to tail, should they encounter a demigod ambush, as long as they can meow twice, Ge Lan can instantly respond within this short distance.

After handing the probability die to Tu Ba Ge, Lei Ke Dun flashed away again, leaving Tu Ba Ge, Bu Li, and Li Ci to stare at each other for a moment.

Li Ci shifted uncomfortably; brass‑colored mechanical armor pieces were strapped to its body. Though a rank‑six extraordinary cat, the generalist's passage gave no real enhancement, making the patchwork mechanical cuirass a considerable burden.

Beside it, Bu Li had a single piece of mechanical gear on each of its four legs, neck, and tail, and a satchel hung on each side of its front legs, apparently filled with tiny items.

The two cats curiously stared at the probability die in Tu Ba Ge's paw for a while, only withdrawing their gaze reluctantly when Tu Ba Ge slipped the die back into his pocket.

Li Ci exclaimed with curiosity:

"This is a remarkable miraculous item; though I can't see it clearly, I feel it surpasses the two miraculous items Ge Lan has!"

"I wonder when I'll be able to forge a miraculous item of this caliber."

Bu Li, with two satchels hanging on its body, nimbly scrambled up a nearby tree, peered around, then leapt down lightly and suggested, looking toward the manor's depths:

"Let's go further inside; we can't even block a single silhouette here."

Li Ci nodded in agreement, his somewhat heavy head saying:

"Exactly, though our rank isn't high, we have enough miraculous items; now that we possess such a powerful one, we can flee even if we face an unbeatable foe."

Tu Ba Ge rubbed his fluffy chin with his idle paw, looking deep in thought.

Before he could think for two seconds, a series of violent explosions rang out in the distance, quickly closing in on them.

In the nearby layered flames, a spear seemingly forged from pure sunlight streaked across the sky, carving a blazing white trail that shattered the hazy crimson moonlight into shards of red phosphorus, which swiftly reassembled mid‑air into a slender figure.

It was a pallid man, about thirty years old, with a sharp chin and sunken eye sockets, exuding a sinister, fierce aura.

The instant his silhouette appeared, the metal ring on Bu Li's neck flashed a rapid red light.

Sensing the sudden flashing cue on his neck, Bu Li shouted loudly:

"He is a primal moonlight believer."

The figure in midair had its attention caught by Bu Li's voice; his gaze was cold as he looked down, a hint of surprise flashing in his sunken eyes, and his voice, somewhat startled, blurted out:

"One cat, one rabbit, and a mechanical dog?"

His gaze warily swept the surroundings; where there were extraordinary beasts, there were likely extraordinary beings who kept them.

"Stupid vampire, I'm clearly a cat!" Litz, whose body was covered in mechanical devices, muttered loudly in dissatisfaction.

The figure in midair glanced around, failing to notice the hidden extraordinary beings, and his wariness instantly relaxed.

He looked at Litz, tightly wrapped in mechanical devices, and his eyes revealed undisguised greed:

"How bold of you—hasn't your master told you that the vampire's preceding class is the beastmaster?"

"But now your new master has told you."

His figure blurred for a moment in the scarlet moonlight; once it became clear again, he had already teleported several dozen meters away, his voice full of pleasure as he spoke:

"What luck—I didn't expect to pick up an artisan cat today."

"Besides, my followers aren't lowly vampires; they are devout believers of the Great Red Moon, His emissaries, originating from the Scarlet Scholar."

Boom! A fierce fireball suddenly exploded at the spot where this Primitive Moon Believer stood, sending a wave of scorching heat that interrupted his rambling speech.

On the ground, Litz slowly closed his open mouth, and the specks of crimson faded away.

Before it, the air seemed to twist for a moment; the scarlet moonlight suddenly solidified, re-forming into that midair figure from earlier.
