Chapter 472: Private Conversation
The other members of the Tarot Society, upon hearing World's question, also turned their heads toward Rekton; a miraculous item with healing ability is always popular.
Rekton lightly leaned against the chair back, tapped the armrest of the adjacent high‑backed chair twice with his right hand, then said:
"Stitching severed limbs, curing grievous illnesses, stitching souls—these abilities can generally be retained, but the latter requires very advanced technique; unless one is an extraordinary practitioner skilled in the soul domain, it is not recommended to attempt."
"Stitching souls! That sounds so evil."
"Justice" Audrey was slightly surprised; she hadn't expected the Sequence Eight physician to possess the extraordinary ability to stitch souls.
"Hermit" Jia Deliya turned her head to glance at the solemn Audrey and Fors beside her, and, with a calm voice, said:
"Whether something is evil is not judged by the extraordinary ability itself; the focus is on the person wielding it, not the ability, of course except for the demonic path that directly affects the extraordinary individual."
"From the standpoint of extraordinary abilities alone, many paths can be called evil—for example, the diviner and thief paths, the Sleepless path held by the Night Church, even the Generalist path controlled by the Steam Church. Their advancement ceremony for a certain sequence extracts all life force within a region, causing soil to become desert, lakes to dry up; such actions are wholly evil."
"Indeed, like our bloodline, although the Moon path also contains some darkness and strange authority, under the influence of the progenitor we remain a noble, elegant race."
"Moon" Emmlin lifted his chin slightly, and, with a pleasant voice, continued Jia Deliya's words.
"Not at all, those vampires outside Silver City look disgusting." "Sun" Derrick silently retorted in his mind; not wanting to argue again with Mr. Fool in the Divine Realm, he lowered his head and ignored the previous remark.
Artificial vampires also belong to the Moon path; they are neither noble nor elegant, which nonetheless indirectly proves Lilith's influence over the bloodline and this path. Clayen mused briefly, then, controlling his sub‑account "World," sighed:
"Perhaps the essence of the Extraordinary World is madness."
Rekton, lounging a bit on the high‑backed chair, echoed World's exclamation aloud:
"Whether something is evil is closely tied to the apex of a Sequence Path, like the Night Goddess and the Prime Witch; the former single‑handedly raised the quality of the Sleepless path, the latter scorches the entire path alone, and the witches under her influence become somewhat mentally twisted."
The goddess truly is a benevolent and kind deity; praising the goddess, Audrey felt a bit ashamed, looked up at the "Fool" gentleman at the head of the weathered table, and, seeing no reaction, finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Praising the goddess here was somewhat disrespectful to Mr. Fool; I should be more careful in the future.
Audrey lowered her head, silently admonishing herself, and couldn't help glancing curiously at the figure at the head of the table. She wondered which path Mr. Fool mastered; judging by his style, perhaps a more mysterious, wondrous Sequence Path—maybe the diviner or seer path?
Rekton's gaze swept the room, he chuckled twice, then steered the conversation back to the deal he had just proposed:
"So, who among you needs a miraculous item with healing ability?"
"How much?" Clayen, controlling his sub‑account "World," asked hoarsely.
Rekton paused two seconds, then said:
"Hmm, 800 pounds. You may shape it into any item you wish, but for ease of using extraordinary abilities, a medical‑equipment form is preferable."
"Fine, forge it into suturing needles and thread."
Clayen thought briefly, then, controlling the "World" at the far end, replied that the ability to heal external wounds combined with his own extraordinary power to relocate injuries would allow rapid recovery unless the blow is directly fatal.
Seated at the opposite side of the weathered table, "Justice" Audrey lifted her right hand slightly, pondered, and said:
"I also wish to commission such a miraculous item; could its form be made into a bandage?"
"Sure." Rekton gave a slight nod in response.
After a brief silence, seeing no one continue the previous transaction, "Hanged Man" A'erjie cleared his throat, lowered his voice, and said:
"I need the Ocean Singer's magic elixir formula; does anyone have it, or know where it can be found?"
Rekton, unsurprised, glanced at "Hanged Man" A'erjie; this was the third time the latter had sought the Ocean Singer's formula at the Tarot Society.
After a moment's thought, he leaned forward, hands braced on the table, and turned to A'erjie, saying:
"You haven't found it yet? 7,000 pounds. If you accept that price, I can obtain the Ocean Singer's formula for you."
"7,000 pounds? You're short of money?" "Hanged Man" A'erjie hesitated, looking at Rekton.
Sequence Five elixir formulas usually run about 5,000 pounds, but due to scarcity they often carry a premium; nevertheless, 7,000 pounds is rather steep.
Moreover, the recent mass sale of low‑sequence extraordinary traits and miraculous items by the White Tower forced "Moon" to take on side jobs to repay debts; lately he's either short on money or short on manpower. If he's at sea, I could offset part of the gold by taking a hired job to help him.
"Hanged Man" A'erjie lowered his gaze, pondered briefly, then turned his head toward Rekton, his expression solemn, and said:
"I can't gather that much cash in a short time, but I know the coordinates of a primordial island where many extraordinary creatures, long vanished from the world, still dwell; the value of those coordinates is certainly not less than a Sequence Five elixir formula."
"I can swear to Mr. Fool that the island's coordinates are genuine; I am the only one who knows them."
A primordial island teeming with extraordinary creatures? It must be the one Adam imagined; what if I actually set foot there and Adam drags me into the Bone Chapel for a chat?
That would be in front of the world's best psychotherapist; before Him I can keep no secret, let alone the aura of the True Creator and the God of Knowledge and Wisdom on me—He would certainly notice.
Rekton lowered his eyes slightly, thoughts flickering through his mind; he felt that if he really went to that island, Adam would most likely kill himself.
After a moment of silence, Rekton gave A'erjie a slight shake of the head and said, "I don't need the coordinates of that primordial island."
"Don't need them? Why?" A'erjie furrowed his brows, full of doubt, looked at Rekton, then pressed his lips together and said:
"I can guarantee that the island hosts far more than one Sequence Five‑level extraordinary creature, perhaps even a deity‑grade extraordinary being."
"I once, by accident, happened upon that island and conducted a brief exploration along its fringe."
Rekton lifted his hand slightly, cutting off the Hanged Man, and said:
"I have no intention of exploring that island, so I don't need its coordinates."
"But since you're short on gold, you could go there and hunt some extraordinary creatures; their materials could be exchanged with me for the Ocean Singer's magic elixir formula."
"Our Tarot Society does have some members; you could certainly enlist a few to accompany you to the island. As for keeping the island's information confidential, we can draft agreements under Mr. Fool's witness."
"Hanged Man" A'erjie was silent for a moment, then slowly said, "I will consider your proposal."
Even as he spoke, his gaze remained fixed on Rekton; his azure eyes held restrained emotion, revealing nothing of his true thoughts.
"Not planning to explore that island? What's the issue? Impossible—aside from me and Qilin Ges, no one should know about it, and I only disclosed a few details; even if he happened to visit, he couldn't confirm. In the mysterious, vast sea, such primordial islands surely aren't unique."
"Is this a spiritual intuition? The Reader Path's Sequence Four seems to be called the Prophet; perhaps my words let him foresee something or trigger a reaction, causing him to reject my terms?"
A'erjie's thoughts flickered one after another; after a moment of contemplation, he leaned back casually, lightly resting against the chair back, appearing as if the failed transaction didn't bother him.
With A'erjie's silence, the Tarot Society fell quiet again; Clayen, leisurely seated on a high‑backed chair, waited a moment, ensured no one was initiating a trade, then, distracted, controlled his sub‑account "World" and spoke:
"'Hermit' lady, I would like to speak with you privately."
"Hermit" Jia Deliya, puzzled, turned her head toward the "World" at the far end of the weathered table, squinted slightly, and instinctively reached to adjust her glasses, but her right hand met empty air on the bridge of her nose.
She withdrew her right hand a little unnaturally, then gave a gentle nod in response.
"Sure."
While speaking, she constantly observed the "World" who rarely spoke or showed emotion. His emotions were deeply restrained, his attire also somewhat disguised; apart from being able to tell he was a seasoned, experienced extraordinary person, no effective information could be directly observed.
While Gadeliya observed the World, Klein also manipulated the World to make a request for private communication to himself:
"Respected Mr. Fool, may I have a private conversation with Ms. Hermit?"
After the World finished speaking, Klein switched back to his main account and chuckled aloud:
"Yes."
While speaking, he bent his index finger and lightly tapped the edge of the table in front of him, then spoke again:
"You may now communicate."
After doing all that, he switched back to his alternate account "World" again, his gaze calm, voice hoarse, and said:
"Star Upper General?"
"I need to go to the depths of the Su Nia Sea's Divine War ruins for some matters; may I board your Future? If so, what compensation would be required?"
"Hermit" Gadeliya was slightly stunned; she never expected the other party to immediately call out her identity upon contact. Although the World used an interrogative sentence, his tone was quite certain.
After a brief moment of silence, Gadeliya nodded slightly and said:
"Yes, but you need to first go to Nas in the White City of the Garcias Archipelago and wait a few days; the Future is still in the northern Su Nia Sea and needs some time to dock."
"As for compensation, you can directly pay gold pounds, or you can pay some equivalent occult knowledge or items."
"Equivalent knowledge? Isn't that just letting me freeload? Although I'm not wealthy with gold pounds, ordinary extraordinary people rarely have access to high-end occult knowledge, which I have mastered quite a bit of; however, for the Star Upper General, I have a more suitable bargaining chip."
As the thought crossed his mind, Klein manipulated his alternate account "World" and spoke in a low, hoarse voice:
"I know a 'Mercury Snake'; I will contact it at an appropriate time to inquire about the blood of mythical creatures."
"'Mercury Snake'? Fine, I hope the appropriate time you speak of won't be too long."
Gadeliya's eyes flickered slightly; the other party's offered terms gave her no reason to refuse.
The gloomy, restrained World let out a dry, light chuckle twice and said:
"I will give you a reply before I disembark from the Future."
