Chapter 508: Divination
Leiketon glanced around and saw "Zhengyi" Ao Daili, "Moshushi" Fo Si, and "Yueliang" Ai Mu Lin present.
The observant "Zhengyi" Ao Daili eagerly opened her mouth to explain:
"We plan to act this afternoon; then there will be a covert gathering of extraordinary beings formed by the Aurora Society, and Mr. X is the convenor of the gathering."
Leiketon listened calmly, nodded, and said: "What kind of demigod-level extraordinary abilities do you wish to record?"
The "Moshushi" Fo Si immediately replied:
"Those with powerful attack abilities, those that can disrupt the battlefield, or those possessing strong control abilities are all acceptable."
She paused, feeling she had said too much, gave a nervous chuckle and corrected herself:
"Um, as long as we can record them, that's fine; we can adjust tactics based on the recorded extraordinary abilities."
"Fine." Leiketon lightly nodded, tapped the tabletop twice with his right hand, and pointed to the dark brown "Laimanluo's Travel Journal" placed before the others.
The "Moshushi" Fo Si instantly understood, nodded, and pushed the bound parchment book in front of him onto the bronze long table opposite Leiketon.
Leiketon flipped through it briefly, finding five pages of "Flash" and three pages of "Traveler's Gate," plus several more common hunter and warrior path extraordinary abilities.
The recorded ability sequence was uneven; it seemed Lawrence had taken this book to observe battles among extraordinary beings and recorded the abilities that way.
After a moment of contemplation, Leiketon suddenly rose from his seat, bowed toward the head of the mottled long table where "Yuzhe" Ke Lai En sat, and said, "Honorable 'Yuzhe' sir, may I employ some high‑damage extraordinary abilities here?"
"Here?" Ai Mu Lin, the "Yueliang", thought with both doubt and surprise, "This is the Divine Realm of 'Yuzhe'—using extraordinary abilities here seems rather presumptuous."
"Zhengyi" Ao Daili's expression remained unchanged as she leaned on the edge of the bronze table, watching Leiketon's movements and expression with curiosity. "Baita" seemed confident that "Yuzhe" would grant his request.
Leaning back in his high‑backed chair, Ke Lai En tapped the table edge twice and said, "Fine."
As his words ended, the gray mist outside the grand palace surged, and a plaza built of gray‑white marble, surrounded by twelve towering gray‑white stone pillars, suddenly appeared before everyone.
"This! A plaza just appeared like that?" "Moshushi" Fo Si and "Yueliang" Ai Mu Lin were simultaneously stunned.
Ao Daili tried to keep her face calm while inwardly exclaiming that, although she had already witnessed "Yuzhe" create this magnificent ancient palace with a wave of his hand, seeing such a miracle again was still awe‑inspiring! "Yuzhe" is not only merciful; to members of our Tarot Society, he is truly friendly.
Leiketon took the Laimanluo Travel Journal to the gray‑white plaza in front of the towering palace, turning to the amber‑yellow pages that record demigod‑level abilities.
A deep blue‑purple light surged in his eyes, sketching mysterious symbols; he extended his right hand forward, grasped the air, and drew forth a tranquil night veil.
The entire gray‑white plaza instantly vanished from the view of the Tarot Society members inside the ancient palace; neither sight, smell, nor spiritual intuition could sense its prior existence.
"It's gone!" "Yueliang" Ai Mu Lin exclaimed in surprise.
He glanced at where the gray‑white plaza had vanished, then at the unmoving "Yuzhe" at the head of the mottled table, finally fell silent and continued staring into the empty gray mist.
On the concealed gray‑white plaza, Leiketon, slightly startled, looked at the Laimanluo Travel Journal in his hand; the amber‑yellow page had already recorded his recent mysterious recreation, "Night Country."
Leiketon chuckled and remarked, "Luck's pretty good; even such a low probability succeeded in a single recording."
Elsewhere, seated in the high‑backed chair, Ke Lai En, controlling the space above the gray mist, also couldn't help but think, "Luck is such a metaphysical thing—no, a mystery—when will the 'Yellow‑Black King of Fortune' become real!"
The gray‑white plaza used to manifest and record extraordinary abilities was concealed, causing the would‑be spectators—"Yueliang" Ai Mu Lin, "Moshushi" Fo Si, and "Zhengyi" Ao Daili—to reluctantly withdraw their gaze.
After about two or three minutes, the calm gray mist surged again, revealing a plaza scarred by lightning and scorch marks; the twelve gray‑white pillars that had stood around its edge were all shattered, leaving only scattered debris.
Brilliant starlight flickered, rising from the distant gray mist and converging onto the high‑backed chair belonging to "Baita."
Clusters of stars reassembled within, manifesting Leiketon's figure.
Leiketon handed the already‑recorded "Laimanluo's Travel Journal" to "Moshushi" Fo Si. "All three demigod‑level extraordinary abilities have been recorded."
"Two mysterious recreations: 'Night Country' can veil a region, creating an interference‑free battlefield and blocking the 'Traveler's' spirit‑realm roaming; 'Mermaid' can render objects within a region transparent and illusory, turning them into foam, useful for evading pursuit or attacks."
"There's also a 'Gun of No Darkness' I've recreated, which has stronger physical destructive power than the original, though its purification of corruption and filth is somewhat weakened."
"Impressive," Baita seemed to command many spells of varying effects and even develop his own, truly enviable! I wonder what abilities 'Audience' will gain after reaching demigod status, and whether they can craft special spells themselves. Ao Daili leaned slightly forward, hands braced on the bronze table edge, her thoughts wandering.
"The 'Moshushi' Fo Si took the Laimanluo Travel Journal, flipped through it casually, and found that besides the agreed three demigod‑level extraordinary abilities, there were additional 'Lightning Strike' and 'Fire Crow' extraordinary abilities."
After a brief glance, Fo Si closed the book, looked up at Leiketon, and nodded lightly, saying:
"Thank you for your help, 'Baita' sir; these are all very practical extraordinary abilities."
"I will give you the agreed compensation before tomorrow's Tarot Society begins."
"Fine, then I wish you a successful operation."
Leiketon nodded in response, turned his head toward the headmost "Yuzhe" Ke Lai En.
The latter's silhouette, shrouded in gray mist, gave a slight nod, snapped his right fingers twice, and a deep red light surged, engulfing Leiketon.
When the light faded, his figure was gone from the high‑backed chair.
In the forsaken lands, on a hidden street of a ruined city, Leiketon held the doll he had just obtained; his pupils darkened, his eyes lost focus, a blank void.
In this state, images began to surface in his mind:
In a candle‑lit room of amber glow, the walls were adorned with brass gears and dried flowers; a middle‑aged woman in a dark classical robe, face indistinct, entered carrying a platter. The platter held odd fare: a cup of pitch‑black viscous liquid, a plate of wood shavings, and several iron pieces.
The same scene repeated endlessly, as if the doll had previously lived through this routine.
As the images shifted, the dried flowers on the walls dwindled, the gears were removed and became new food on the platter.
Eventually, only a simple table and chair remained in the room, along with the large bed on which the doll lay.
As the sequence progressed, Leiketon felt intense emotional turbulence, the lingering psychic imprint of the doll's fused traits.
His divination seemed to awaken it; confusion, fear, madness, and an urge to tear everything apart sprouted within his heart.
The mental image shifted away from the amber‑lit room; the doll on the bed stepped out.
Its perspective was strange; surrounding darkness turned blood‑red, walls and floor filled with twisted, snarling monsters.
Its emotions surged; the bizarre surroundings and monsters did not frighten it, but instead sparked primal madness, and it ripped apart all the twisted monsters that tried to attack.
The blood‑red, grotesque vision faded quickly; the doll returned to the bed in the room, this time without the amber candlelight or the woman with the platter, only the silvery flash of distant lightning revealing the interior.
The room's scene froze until Leiketon's eyes cleared, and all mental images vanished.
Leiketon stared at the doll in his hand; specks of starlight fluttered around before fading quickly.
The holder can perceive spirits invisible to the naked eye; by infusing spirit, it can briefly animate, but the downside is: the owner longs for interaction and light, and will mutate into a monster in darkness; prolonged silence also causes mutation.
"Fine, it's not a complete 'Reaper' trait anyway; let it stay as a keepsake of a story with an unhappy ending—perhaps it'll prove useful later."
Leiketon muttered softly, abandoning his plan to destroy it and reclaim its trait.
