Chapter 591: Red Angel Evil Spirit

~9 min read 1,625 words

Luo Ser glared fiercely at Lei Kedun, his teeth clenched as he said:

"You win. Someday, I will hide all the diaries and delete them from this world."

Lei Kedun chuckled lightly and reminded, "This falls within the domain of the 'Goddess of Night', but unfortunately you can't defeat her, so you can't obtain the authority of 'Secrecy'."

Luo Ser gave him a look, his tone very displeased, and said, "Let's end this topic here. Let's go; it's been a long time since I've been to the South Continent, so we can revisit the old places."

"And lately Beiernadai has been increasingly disrespectful toward me, his old father. I think we need some distance to preserve a good father‑daughter relationship."

Lei Kedun looked at Luo Ser with pity and, considering Beiernadai's temperament, thought that avoidance wouldn't solve the problem; honesty would only make him suffer more.

Seemingly provoked by Lei Kedun's gaze, Luo Ser muttered discontentedly:

"What kind of look is that?"

Lei Kedun smiled, said nothing more, then pressed his left thumb and forefinger to his lips and whistled.

Soon, the pumpkin carriage pulled by two plump rats reappeared on the deck of the "Dawn", its carriage door opening automatically and turning into a step onto the carriage compartment.

Luo Ser looked at the two plump rats, cast a disdainful glance and said, "Can't you use something normal to pull the carriage? You've turned a proper fairy‑tale magic into this; kids would have nightmares watching it."

Lei Kedun lowered his head, pondered for two seconds, then earnestly retorted, "Isn't this fitting? It matches the true nature of a fairy tale; it's an aesthetic of absurd weirdness!"

"Your childhood must be very different from others'," Luo Ser sighed wordlessly.

In a few steps, he covered a long stretch of the deck and reached the odd carriage.

South Continent, Beilunsi Port at the northernmost of Xibailang, under the dim glow of street lamps, a figure dressed in a black double‑breasted long formal coat and a tall black top hat stepped out of the spirit realm.

Beneath the black hat, the hair was dark‑gold, the pupils a blue so deep it seemed black, though one eye was blind; the remaining eye reflected a fiery red silhouette.

That silhouette was Ins Zangweier, a traitor from the Night Church, but his condition seemed poor; the demon spirit sealed within him was too powerful and had seized control of his body.

Ins Zangweier's face suddenly broke into an exaggerated grin, his nose tip flared twice, greedily inhaling the scent in the air.

A moment later, under the demon spirit's control, Ins Zangweier finally ceased his flamboyant gestures and, speaking to himself, sighed, "I sense my master's aura; even without actively seeking, someone will soon come looking for me."

"Ha ha, Suolun, Aiinhorn, you two idiots, after all that trouble, didn't you end up following me to stand before my master?"

The next moment, a slightly illusory mouth formed on the left cheek of Ins Zangweier, and a somewhat sharp, hoarse voice emerged from it:

"The True Creator is still sealed on the South Continent; at most there are one or two of its followers here, which doesn't matter."

As the words fell, an equally illusory mouth appeared on the right cheek of Ins Zangweier, and he continued:

"Don't forget, without my and Suolun's cooperation, you couldn't control Ins Zangweier's bodily actions at all."

Meidiqi, holding the initiative, sneered softly, "Ha, you two idiots, you'd better keep being women; the 'Hunter' role doesn't suit you."

The next second, the illusory mouths on Ins Zangweier's left and right cheeks seemed enraged, locking in a standoff with Meidiqi, who held the initiative.

The three consciousnesses of the demon spirit battling caused Ins Zangweier's body to twist grotesquely: his left hand tore at his right cheek, his right hand at his left cheek, his legs pulling in opposite directions, forming a straight line.

Under the dim street‑lamp glow, the scene appeared absurd and bizarre.

Near dawn, Lei Kedun brought Luo Ser to the Pas River Valley and handed him over to Ge Lan, who arranged a job for him.

After Lei Kedun left, Luo Ser suddenly changed expression, speaking as if chatting with a long‑unseen old friend:

"Did you leave the Steam Church back then just to move somewhere else and keep repeating this dull, boring work?"

"Do you know my daughter is now a 'Sage', also a second‑tier sequence like you?"

Ge Lan gave the guy a glance, her tone disdainful, "It seems dying once didn't teach you any lesson; you're still as punchable as before."

"Had I known that little guy was talking about you, I would have refused outright then."

Luo Ser seemed oblivious to Ge Lan's disdain, laughing heartily, "Ha ha, little guy, which aspect of him are you calling small?"

Ge Lan's expression shifted, then quickly steadied. She looked at the lewdly laughing Luo Ser and said calmly, "Do you need me to replace your mechanical body? As it happens, I haven't yet separated the Alchemist's traits."

"I was talking about age; why are you overreacting? Is there something you can't say?" Luo Ser waved his hands repeatedly, and before he could finish, a bang rang as several magnet‑like metal coils shot out from the corner, binding his mechanical body tightly and suspending it from the ceiling.

"I recall you said you liked bondage games; as a long‑unseen old friend, I'll fulfill that wish for you."

While speaking, Ge Lan gently rubbed her fingers, and specks of starlight spilled from between her palms, sketching strange sigils in the air before sinking into Luo Ser's mechanical body, disabling the automaton's abilities.

Ignoring Luo Ser's screams, she walked back to the second‑floor bedroom without looking back.

When Ge Lan vanished from sight, Luo Ser finally twisted the extraordinary power acting on himself and lowered himself from the ceiling.

He moved his body a bit, saw no danger, and clicked his tongue twice, "People are already hundreds of years old, yet you still can't make a joke."

The next morning, after Lei Kedun finished breakfast and was about to check the ritual preparations for his avatar's promotion to 'Seer', the shadow beneath his feet began to writhe spontaneously.

In Lei Kedun's astonished gaze, the shadow flowed like water, forming a series of straightforward words on the ground:

"Come to the Red Rose Church."

"What could make Sasilier actually come to seek me out?"

Muttering softly, his body gradually became ethereal, disintegrating into streams of pure knowledge that pierced the house walls and surged outward.

Along the riverbank on the south bank of Pas Valley, a cluster of spire‑topped buildings had risen at an unknown time; they were all dark‑toned, their walls painted with deep‑red rose patterns surrounding an inverted cross.

A towering clock tower stood beside a fountain‑surrounded plaza, its hour hand pointing exactly at the eight‑o'clock mark.

Boom—boom— the melodious chimes floated through the air, startling a flock of gray pigeons resting atop the tower; as they flew away, the bells echoed along both banks of the river.

On the gray‑white marble plaza below, several clergy in black robes embroidered with gold thread were handing out simple food, newspapers and booklets to nearby volunteers.

Lei Kedun's figure silently appeared on the plaza; he cast a quick glance around the crowd, then walked straight toward the ornate church ahead.

Passing through a long corridor adorned with thorns and murals, he entered the prayer hall, whose high side walls featured several stained‑glass windows; the morning sun streamed through, leaving distinct colored traces above the hall.

The prayer hall was quiet, with no extra worshippers; Sasilier sat with his back to Lei Kedun on the front bench, praying toward the statue inverted on the cross.

Lei Kedun stood quietly beside him for a moment; after Sasilier finished praying, he spoke to him:

"This church was built rather quickly!"

"We are not part of the Seven Gods' Alliance, so we need not abide by their covenant," Sasilier's voice was calm and rational.

"So you let the extraordinary directly work as builders, even you personally constructing this church?" Lei Kedun raised an eyebrow, chuckled, "Indeed, and this is the South Continent."

He paused, then continued, "What did you discover that made you summon me here suddenly?"

Sasilier rose from his seat; his black robe adorned with lavish ornaments rustled, his hands clasped a pitch‑black staff, and his eyes seemed shrouded in an impenetrable, dense shadow.

His gaze passed through the church walls, looking toward the west-north direction, and he let out a soft sigh, saying:

"Mei Di Qi came to Xi Bai Lang, he is currently staying in Northern State, the consciousness of Suo Lun and Ai Yin Huo En has clashed with his, and they are deadlocked there."

Lei Ke Dun followed his gaze outward, his special status allowed him to see some colors of war gathering in the north.

He paused for two seconds, withdrew his gaze, and looked at Sasilier, saying:

"What are you planning to do? He can no longer be simply regarded as that former Red Angel."

After two seconds of silence, Sasilier said in a low voice:

"Help me transfer the qualities of the 'Conqueror' to him; the rest is up to him to decide."

"Back then, A Meng and Ya Dang plotted that matter; the contradiction between them is now irreconcilable, I have no standing to interfere in these, he can choose to return to my side on his own, or seek new allies."

Lei Ke Dun clicked his tongue twice, lamenting with a regretful tone:

"Indeed, it's not easy—on one side is a disobedient son, on the other side is a formerly most loyal subordinate."
