Chapter 683: Intimidation
Ke Lai En let out a helpless sigh and said:
"If I weren't so eager to consume the 'Mysterious Mage's' elixir, I would certainly pick some ordinary people, low‑rank extraordinary ones, or half‑god intimidators active on the battlefield, rather than a genuine angel."
As the words fell, a pale face reflected in the glass window beside him—his 'Wronged Soul' secret doll! The figure of the 'Wronged Soul' secret doll slipped away in the glass, silently appearing in the living room of the house where Lun Na De was staying.
His somewhat pale, translucent skin quickly solidified into a tangible flesh body; the epidermal nodules constantly writhed, reshaping the doll's appearance into a young man with black curls, black eyes, a broad forehead, and a thin face. He was also fiddling with a single‑lens glass carved from crystal.
In a corner of the living room, a transparent ghost floated silently in midair, completely unaware of the new person in the room.
Scare and then run; never linger. Given Pa Lie Si's knowledge of these three routes, once He reacts, my true self will surely be exposed, which would be not only awkward but also dangerous.
As thoughts fluttered, the sound of a key being inserted and the handle turned came from the living room's main door.
Ke Lai En took a deep breath, using the 'Faceless One's' ability to control his expression and heartbeat, tugged at the corner of his mouth, revealing a teasing smile, and stared toward the door.
Amid the creaking, the house's door was opened from outside; Lun Na De, with black hair and green eyes, wearing a relatively thin black long coat and double red gloves, stepped one foot into the living room.
His movement suddenly froze, a chill surged from his feet up to the back of his head, making his scalp tingle.
From his eye sockets, face, mouth, nostrils and so on, semi‑transparent worms protruded, writhing chaotically up and down.
"Heh, we meet again."
Ke Lai En tried to imitate the tone and demeanor of A Meng that Lei Ke Dun had briefly adopted, and placed the crystal‑carved single lens over his right eye, though he didn't actually wear it properly.
His spiritual intuition began to warn him the moment he made the move, as if putting on that single lens would trigger something terrifying.
Such a level of danger warning means A Meng's duplicate has already arrived in Beikelainde and has even set its sights on Pa Lie Si? Fortunately I didn't choose to scare the old man alone.
In that instant of swirling thoughts, Ke Lai En clearly felt some illusory thing inside him shatter; one phantom star after another floated across his eyes, and the 'Mysterious Mage's' elixir was completely digested at that moment!
"You are not A Meng," Pa Lie Si's voice echoed around, tinged with barely restrained anger.
"Now even any 'Mysterious Mage' dares to intimidate me? Not even the original Charatu, the little brat from the Antigonus family, had such nerve."
As Pa Lie Si's voice rang out, the extraordinary abilities, traits, sight, hearing, touch, and even spiritual intuition of Ke Lai En's secret doll vanished within a single sentence, reducing him to a heap of flesh and bone, and only then did the transformation cease.
A massive spirit surged from Lun Na De, swiftly sweeping a 'scan' over the surroundings.
After less than a second, Pa Lie Si reined in his aura and, in a sour tone, complained in Lun Na De's mind: "Hmph! Your former colleague is getting bolder and bolder."
"Ke Lai En? The A Meng just now was him in disguise? What does he want?" Lun Na De was momentarily at a loss.
"What does he want? Of course to digest the 'Mysterious Mage's' elixir on him, knowing I parasitize you, and the only 'Mysterious Mage' he needs to impersonate is himself."
Pa Lie Si snorted coldly in reply.
A moment later, Pa Lie Si steadied his emotions, and his tone no longer betrayed anger as he said:
"His eagerness to digest the elixir suggests he plans to do something afterward; the doubt I had before has finally been resolved."
"What doubt?" Lun Na De asked curiously.
Pa Lie Si's deep voice replied: "'The Night' wants to use me to lure A Meng to Beikelainde, using Him to restrain Charatu; then who attracted me and Charatu?" Lun Na De, a bit bewildered, asked instinctively: "Isn't it because I'm here?"
"You remain in Beikelainde because I parasitize you, not because of you yourself; the convergence of extraordinary traits can to some extent influence fate, making the encounter happen in a clever, natural, logical way," Pa Lie Si explained irritably.
Lun Na De nodded vaguely and said, "Then what factor drew you to Beikelainde?"
"You should be familiar; you saw Him today, the 'Fool' who gathered many of you for the gathering. The relationship between Him and 'the Night' is enough for the 'Mother of Secrets' to make numerous arrangements."
"Heh, I have no idea what schemes they plot; this frail old man of mine still gets repeatedly used by them—life is truly hard!"
Pa Lie Si sighed once and then fell silent; no matter how Lun Na De pressed, he said nothing more.
In the western district, on the square before Saint Samuel Church, Ke Lai En's face turned wistful as he exhaled heavily; he could feel that moments ago Pa Lie Si truly lost his temper and harbored murderous intent toward him.
Fortunately, the old man quickly regained his senses, or today would have ended badly. From now on I must try to stay around Lun Na De; although, given the goddess and the 'Fool's' faces, Pa Lie Si won't truly harm me, teasing, deceit and pranks are inevitable, and perhaps some life, traits, and fate will be stolen.
After a brief inner sigh, Ke Lai En turned to Lei Ke Dun and said, "Pa Lie Si's feedback was intense; the 'Mysterious Mage's' elixir in me has been fully digested."
"Congratulations, the angel who will often think of you now has one more."
He replied with a smiling remark; the information attached to Ke Lai En coalesced into an invisible 'glow' that surged from his body, darted outward, and vanished swiftly from his sight.
"Later I must give the old man some benefits through Lun Na De; I can't always be on an angel's mind."
Muttering to himself, Ke Lai En turned and walked toward the Saint Samuel Church behind him.
After Ke Lai En left, a raven with a white ring around its right eye flapped its wings and departed from the roof opposite the church.
Behind the raven, a 'glow' formed from pure, tangled information sprang into existence, following it as it merged into the hazy sky.
By the Ta Suo Ke River, the raven with a white eye shadow perched on a gas lamp post and spoke in A Meng's voice:
"Since you discovered me, why not tell that 'Mysterious Mage'?"
"Or perhaps you've changed your mind and intend to support me as the new Lord of the Mysteries?"
The 'glow' woven from pure information manifested beside the raven, coalescing into a transparent figure that answered calmly:
"Your duplicates are too many, and I cannot come to Beikelainde in person; whatever you plan, I can hardly stop you, so why waste effort."
"Your father, who can't tell whether he's truly asleep or feigning, needs him to go to the Giant King's Court to retrieve the first Profane Stone Tablet left there; therefore, for a long time ahead, he will be safe."
The raven with the white eye ring shook its head anthropomorphically, emitting A Meng's voice: "When I steal the 'Source Fortress' from him, I too can enter the Giant King's Court and retrieve the first Profane Stone Tablet."
"You are still not the 'Error'; you cannot achieve such a level of 'theft'."
Lei Ke Dun's voice echoed around, but the transparent figure formed from pure information had already vanished.
A Meng stared at the spot where Lei Ke Dun's figure disappeared and said calmly and firmly, "Just an 'Error'; I'll become one soon."
