Chapter 21

If at any point he couldn't hold out, he could tear the scroll and safely return.

Of course......

This method also carried a certain amount of risk.

If he was killed before he had time to tear the scroll, then everything would be over.

In front of nightmare-level dungeon Cat Demons, renowned for their agile and uncanny movements, this possibility was extremely high.

Of course, risk and reward were equal.

As long as he could kill the final BOSS and clear this Deep Within the Gloom Forest dungeon,

he would ultimately be able to obtain a decent result.

"Here they come!"

His keen perception had already caught the sound coming from deep within the dense forest.

Rustle~~~

Rustle~~~

The sound of something brushing through leaves drew closer and closer, the frequency growing ever denser.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!......

Very soon, one after another Cat Demon — its entire body a dark blue-green, its size roughly that of a leopard — burst out of the trees and appeared within Zhou Yi's field of vision.

Cat Demons were inherently violent-tempered magical beasts, extremely prone to entering a frenzied state.

Sensing a human's aura, they would prepare to pounce on their target and devour its skull.

And so.

The instant they saw Zhou Yi, the large pack of Cat Demons pushed off with their forelegs, their slender bodies charging toward Zhou Yi like phantoms.

Their ugly, savage eyes glowed with a crimson light under the dim forest lighting, like the greed of devils.

This group of Cat Demons numbered roughly fifteen or sixteen.

They scrambled over one another, pouncing toward Zhou Yi.

Whoooosh!

The swift wind howled; the Cat Demon charging at the very front had already closed to within five meters of Zhou Yi!

Its hind legs pushed off powerfully, and it actually opened its great maw wide, lunging straight at him through the air!

"Perfect timing!!"

Zhou Yi yanked hard from behind him, and a massive battle-axe was already gripped in his hand.

'Single-Edged Axe!'

【Single-Edged Axe (Bronze ☆☆): Two-handed long-hafted weapon. When equipped, Strength +7, Agility -2】

"Die!!"

The next instant.

Zhou Yi gripped the battle-axe and hacked out viciously.

The Cat Demon, mid-leap in the air, saw that things looked bad, but had nothing to push off from, and could only watch helplessly as the battle-axe swelled in its pupils.

Splutch~~~

In a single axe-stroke, the Cat Demon leaping through the air was split clean in two; bright red blood scattered everywhere like rain.

"First one."

Zhou Yi licked his lips, a burning fighting spirit flickering in his gaze.

【Strength: 45, Constitution: 51, Agility: 43, Intelligence: 52】

Over the course of a month, he had completed his daily quests every single day, earning free attribute and skill points.

This had resulted in his current self — although still level 10 — already possessing an average attribute value across the board reaching a monstrous 47 points!!

One had to know —

The top two students of Second High School's elite Rocket Class had four-dimensional stats averaging only around 25 points.

Looking across the entire Suhang Province, there were naturally quite a few stronger students at more famous high schools.

An average of 40 might exist.

But an average of 47 points across all four attributes was exceedingly rare.

This was enough to place Zhou Yi among the very top tier of examinees in Suhang Province!

And this, too, was the reason he dared to challenge a nightmare-level dungeon solo!.
