Chapter 17: Volume 1 Chapter 17 Dangerous Professor Makes My Soul Swoon (17)

~7 min read 1,301 words

The newspaper also printed photos of each victim, and among them was a photo that Jiang Zhi had seen before.

She widened her eyes, the fingers holding the edge of the newspaper trembling, staring intently at that victim's photo.

It was the corpse soaking in a glass cylinder in Huo Yin's basement.

Jiang Zhi's face filled with shock as she stepped back a few steps, raised her hand to cover her mouth, her petite face turned deathly pale, and the newspaper in her hand slipped out and fell to the ground.

The boss walked over, picked up the newspaper from the floor, gave her a strange look and asked, "Little miss, what's wrong?"

Jiang Zhi, dazed, shook her head, took out money from her pocket and handed it to him, then turned and left.

Without realizing it, she arrived at the entrance of Jingju and stepped forward, intending to go inside.

But thinking of her missing brother, she suddenly stopped.

If Jiang Jiang were in Huo Yin's hands, calling the police would be delivering her brother into a death trap.

Not yet!

She must know where her brother is.

Only a few coins remained in her pocket, the sky above gradually darkened, the last gleam of twilight was completely swallowed by night, a bright moon hung high, and a faint moonlight spread across the dim road.

Jiang Zhi walked aimlessly, when suddenly a figure appeared in her mind.

With a good memory, she hurried to a phone booth and dialed a number.

The call was quickly connected.

"Who?"

Jiang Zhi's voice trembled: "Mu, Mu Xue-zhang, it's me, Jiang Zhi."

After a pause of a second, the youth's low voice carried a hint of urgency: "Where are you? I'll come pick you up!"

Jiang Zhi's eyes slightly reddened, she spoke softly: "I, I'm at."

After giving the address, a tear fell onto the back of her hand; only then did she realize she was crying, she hastily wiped her tears, feeling terrified deep inside.

Having been out of contact with the outside world for over a month, and finally escaping, she never imagined that the man who had always been by her side was a terrifying serial killer.

She knew nothing of any news, and even her own brother had lost contact.

The feeling of isolation and helplessness made her almost unable to breathe.

When Mu Chi drove over, he saw a lone girl crouched by the roadside, hugging her knees, petite, lonely and pitiful.

He walked up to her and called out, "Jiang Zhi."

Hearing his voice, Jiang Zhi abruptly lifted her head, her eyes brimming, a faint glow shimmering under the silver-white moonlight, she said, "Yes, I'm sorry."

That was the first thing she said to him.

That night, if it weren't for her, Mu Chi would not have been injured.

Mu Chi said, "I'm fine."

After speaking, he extended a finger toward her, "Get up."

Jiang Zhi lifted her face, pouted her lips and shook her head: "I can't stand up."

She had been crouching here, her legs numb and devoid of strength; let alone standing, even taking two steps was extremely difficult.

Mu Chi leaned over, helped her up, step by step walked to the car, and asked, "What's wrong?"

Jiang Zhi again recalled the memory of that villa, her face instantly turned white, her fingers clenched tightly around her skirt hem, and she stammered, "Huo, Huo Yin is a killer, right?"

She still couldn't believe it.

Recalling all the past moments, she couldn't believe that the man she spent day and night with could be a killer.

Mu Chi's peripheral vision swept over her pale face, his pupils flickering slightly; before he could speak, the girl looked at him apologetically and said.

"Sorry, you probably don't know who Huo Yin is."

Mu Chi reached into the car drawer, took out a newspaper, and said slowly, "I know, he's quite 'famous' now."

Called the highest-IQ, extremely meticulous, utterly inhuman perverted killer in history.

The statistics show 27 victims, but there are still some victims not yet found, far more than this number.

Jiang Zhi dared not look at that newspaper; before her eyes would occasionally appear the intact corpse she had seen in the basement and some human organ tissues.

All of this made it hard for her to bear.

The car drove to an upscale residential area, she took the elevator up to over twenty floors.

In the living room.

Jiang Zhi held the warm water cup in her hands, took a small sip, her lips turned white, she was tense and fearful.

Mu Chi reached out to stroke her head to comfort her, but she dodged his hand.

The girl avoided a lot, being highly sensitive to the outside world; the fair fingers exposed outside were tightly curled.

"Sorry, I, I."

Before she could finish, Mu Chi sat beside her on the sofa, speaking gently: "It's okay, you don't need to be afraid; he can't find you here."

Jiang Zhi forced down her fear, lifted her pale, colorless cheek, and spoke incoherently: "My brother, Jiang Jiang, I can't reach him; I'm afraid Huo Yin has taken him."

Mu Chi's expression flickered for a moment, then quickly returned to normal; his calm voice carried a subtle convincing power: "Maybe he just missed your call for a moment; now the police are everywhere looking for him, he wouldn't dare act, your brother should still be safe."

Jiang Zhi's dim eyes glimmered with specks of light as she looked at him and whispered, "Really, really?"

Her faint voice carried a hint of hope.

Mu Chi: "Hmm."

The night was already deep.

Jiang Zhi slept in the guest room, after washing up she lay on the large bed.

The door was knocked.

Jiang Zhi's heart tightened; realizing this was Mu Chi's home, her body gradually relaxed.

She got out of bed, opened the door and asked: "What's up?"

Mu Chi held a cup of milk: "Drink a cup of milk then sleep."

Jiang Zhi glanced at the milk in his hand, embarrassed: "I, I don't like drinking plain milk."

Mu Chi's eyes bore a smile: "It's sweet."

Jiang Zhi then took the milk, tipped her head back and drained it, the sweet taste lingered on her lips and teeth, she licked the corner of her mouth, said: "Delicious."

Mu Chi's dark pupils met her fleeting pink tongue tip, his throat stirred, after a moment he took the milk from her hand, saying: "Go to sleep early, good night."

The door closed again.

Mu Chi stood by the door for a long time, gazing deeply at the door, as if he could see through it the girl lying on the bed.

He composed his expression, turned and left.

Late night.

In the bedroom, the girl sleeping on the bed turned over, the blanket covering her was pulled halfway over her body, revealing a porcelain-like shoulder, which in the faint moonlight took on a flickering gleam.

The girl's lush visage lay sideways buried in the pillow, her raven-black long lashes trembled slightly, her pink lips moist, like a bouquet of roses awaiting plucking.

Suddenly.

The door handle turned from outside, a soft rustling sound in the silent room was exceptionally clear.

The person outside couldn't open the door, because the room had been bolted from inside.

At dawn when the sky lightened.

Jiang Zhi, who had slept until near noon, stretched her body; last night she had slept unusually soundly, not waking once.

Jiang Zhi rubbed her sleepy eyes and asked the system: "Did the male lead come into my room last night?"

777: "You bolted the door, he couldn't get in."

Jiang Zhi satisfiedly hummed, preparing to get up.

The door knocked, sound coming from outside.

"Are you awake? Have breakfast."
