Chapter 204: Volume 1, Chapter 204: Mermaid? Shark Person? (21)

~7 min read 1,301 words

Jiang Zhi's body stiffened; she raised her fishy-smelling finger and placed it between them, blushing as she said, "Let's eat first!"

The shark person was strikingly handsome, and being so close, saying such things to her, Jiang Zhi couldn't restrain herself.

But the original owner's setting still had to be maintained; no matter what, as someone who had never dated from childhood, she needed to give her some buffer time.

A Ting didn't mind her hand at all, extending his arm to wrap around her waist, his brows and eyes obedient, completely lacking the ferocious gloom he had in the sea, gazing at her and saying, "All right, I won't force Zhizhi."

Jiang Zhi froze for a moment, then belatedly asked, "What did you watch to learn these?"

A Ting glanced askance at the TV playing a melodramatic drama and said, "That talking box."

Jiang Zhi followed his gaze.

From the TV came the lines: "This isn't the love I want at all!" "Why are you forcing me, restricting my actions? Am I your puppet? Divorce! I never want to see you again in this life!"

Jiang Zhi: "?"

A Ting asked doubtfully, "What does divorce mean?"

Jiang Zhi broke free from his embrace, quickly grabbed the remote and switched to a children's channel, saying seriously, "These aren't things you should know about yet; first watch this channel—it will help you."

A Ting smiled and replied, "Okay."

Jiang Zhi pulled away, hurried to the kitchen, glancing back at him from time to time, feeling uneasy.

The shark person's IQ is higher than humans', and his learning ability is extraordinarily strong; in just this day, he not only learned Hua Guo Chinese, could watch TV dramas normally, and even grasped basic common sense.

But he is still like a blank sheet, needing to encounter more new things.

Jiang Zhi must instill normal concepts in him—at the very least, he must not kill or eat people indiscriminately, nor use the shark person's abilities to wreak havoc everywhere.

He must become a good person.

She cooked a tableful of dishes, took off her apron, and upon leaving the kitchen saw the shark person avidly watching the TV.

The TV was playing cartoons, which kids love most. Yet Jiang Zhi saw appetite in the shark person—he had lived in the sea all his life, even eating the ocean's overlord, the orca, but had never eaten land animals.

Jiang Zhi: "……"

She hurriedly turned off the TV, her heart pounding, and said, "Come eat."

The shark person shifted his gaze from the screen to her face, tilted his head, and asked, "Can they be eaten?"

Jiang Zhi immediately shook her head: "They are state-protected animals; you cannot eat them!"

Worried he wouldn't understand what state-protected animals meant, she seriously explained it to him.

The shark person looked regretful: "Is that so?"

Jiang Zhi took his hand and led him to the dining table, saying, "Let's eat."

The shark person had strong learning ability, but was surprisingly clumsy at holding chopsticks and picking up food.

Jiang Zhi taught him for nearly half an hour, then gave up, sat beside him, and handed him a spoon: "Just use the spoon."

The shark person lowered his gaze, looking at the back of his hand still retaining the warmth of a girl's palm, sighed, and said, "All right."

Jiang Zhi sensed a hint, narrowed her eyes, and questioned, "Are you doing this on purpose?"

The shark person looked utterly innocent: "What?"

Jiang Zhi raised an eyebrow, withdrew her gaze, finished her meal early, got up, and went to her room.

After her silhouette disappeared at the door, A Ting skillfully picked up his chopsticks, moved gracefully, and brought the food to his mouth.

By the time Jiang Zhi came out of her room, A Ting had finished eating, even washed the bowls on the table; she went to the kitchen, and everything was spotless, with not a speck of grime on the countertop.

"How did you make it so clean?" she asked in astonishment.

A Ting sat on the sofa with his legs crossed, holding a book in his hands, his demeanor noble and elegant, like an old European aristocrat, with the warm glow of an old light shining down from above, gilding him with an aloof, detached chill.

Hearing her voice, he raised his forehead; his ink-black short hair, hanging over his brows and eyes, gleamed with luster, his pure-black pupils like the deepest, most precious gemstones, and the smile at the corner of his mouth dispelled that aloofness.

"It's simple." He lifted his finger, and transparent, clear water droplets appeared, scattering outward, systematically cleaning the surrounding furniture and floor.

In an instant, the entire living room became unusually clean and tidy.

Jiang Zhi stared, her eyes almost popping out, she involuntarily walked over, fixed her gaze on the water droplets at his fingertip, and exclaimed, full of envy, "Is it really that powerful?"

With it, you'll never need to clean again—just a flick of the finger and everything is spotless.

A Ting's finger habitually rested on the back of her neck, gently rubbing, and he asked, "Zhizhi, do you want it?"

Jiang Zhi immediately asked, "How can I get it?"

The cunning shark person smiled faintly: "All I need to do is slightly modify Zhizhi's body, and it will be possible."

Upon hearing that, Jiang Zhi dodged his finger, shook her head, and said, "I suddenly don't want it."

A Ting wouldn't let her escape; he pulled her down onto the sofa, his cold white fingertips gently brushing the stray black hair from her eyes, his deep dark eyes resting on her lips, and he whispered, "Can I kiss you now?"

Through those eyes, Jiang Zhi faintly saw surging desire; the shark person's face gradually revealed patches of dark gold scales, his handsome features suddenly taking on a hint of demonic allure, enchanting the mind, making one willingly surrender beneath him.

She dazed for a few seconds, quickly came to her senses, raised her hand to block his face, and trembled, "Don't use your ability on me."

Many times, she had lost consciousness, enthralled by him.

A Ting's motion paused; beneath his calm facade flickered a hint of panic and helplessness.

The shark person possesses a powerful ability to bewitch hearts, normally used only on partners. Because most shark people fall in love with humans, but humans fear and despise shark people, over time the shark people's clan would use this ability to bewitch their partners, making them willingly stay together.

Within the shark people, even young sharks, from birth, subtly absorb this idea; they fear their partners leaving them and fantasize about using this method to bind them close.

A Ting likes the human before him; she also discovers that he is a shark person, and soon she will fear herself and ultimately leave him.

"This will make you comfortable…" He wanted to push her fingers away.

"A Ting." Jiang Zhi took a deep breath, steadied her reason, and said, "Whether you are a shark person or a human, I like you—do you understand?"

A Ting stared for a long time, then murmured, "You won't be afraid?"

Jiang Zhi moved her fingers away, locked eyes with his reddening gaze; he seemed to recall something, his face turned pale, filled with struggle.

"I like you, so why would I be afraid?" She leaned in, kissed the red mole at the corner of his eye, smiled, and said, "A Ting, I will never leave you."

His bewitching ability had long been withdrawn, yet the girl kissed him without being bewitched.

The latter's merperson breathing suddenly grew heavy, and dark golden scales proliferated over his/her body, layer upon layer covering the side of the neck as well as the arms.
