Chapter 259: Volume 1, Chapter 259: Stupid Beauty x Sports School Male God (21)

~7 min read 1,330 words

He knocked on the door; the door opened from inside. He Mother held a spatula, her face lined with years, smiling.

"Son's back, did your friends come too?"

Jiang Zhi spoke up: "Auntie, He Yin's mother is actually you—do you still remember me?"

Hearing the familiar voice, He Mother was especially delighted: "Is it you? The little girl who helped me chase away the bad guys?"

Jiang Zhi replied warmly: "Auntie, I'm He Yin's friend; my name is Jiang Zhi Zhi."

He Mother was a bit flustered, ushering her in: "Would you like some water? Auntie will pour you a glass."

He Yin said: "Mom, I'll go cook; you two keep chatting."

Having said that, he took the spatula from her hand and went into the kitchen.

Jiang Zhi was very talkative, noticing that He Mother wasn't good with words; she did all the talking while He Mother listened beside her, occasionally smiling and responding, and they chatted happily.

Soon He Yin brought the dishes to the table, wearing an apron; the aroma wafted over to them, and Jiang Zhi was a little surprised: "A Yin actually can cook?"

He Mother took her hand, smiling: "He, when he was little, learned to cook to help me; let's eat now—try it and see if it suits your taste."

Jiang Zhi winked at He Yin beside the table: "Sure."

She ate a lot of this meal, mainly because He Yin's cooking was too delicious, even better than what her family's maid Aunt Liu made.

In the end, He Yin washed the bowls; He Mother went to bed early that night, and at 8:30 p. m. she walked around his room, looking here and there.

He Yin's body tensed slightly, his face tight, looking nervous.

Jiang Zhi walked to the desk, picked up a book and glanced at it, quite surprised: "You're actually reading a finance book? What's up? Are you going to stop running and study finance instead?"

He Yin took the book from her hand and placed it on the shelf behind him, abruptly changing the subject: "Do you want to go back?"

Jiang Zhi shook her head, hands behind her back, leaning on the desk, smiling and raising her eyebrows: "You just want me to go home, don't you?"

He Yin immediately said: "No."

Jiang Zhi stepped closer, tiptoeing to look him in the eye, helplessly saying: "A Yin only dares to look at me when he's kissing me."

A young man in his first love blushes easily; though he's about 1.9 meters tall, nearly two meters, he looks like a clueless penguin.

"Zhi… Zhizhi…"

He suppressed his urge, stepping back two paces, his heart pounding violently.

Just then, a 'bang bang' sound came from the door outside the living room.

The wall trembled with it; the noise was loud, as if it were about to smash the door open.

He Yin's face darkened; he told her to stay in the room and lifted his foot to leave.

As He Mother was startled and came out of the room, several harsh shouts echoed in the living room.

"He Dong ruined my family; he's in prison, and you—his wife and son—must repay this debt!"

The rooms aren't soundproof; this floor has two households, the other just moved out, and the downstairs residents heard the commotion upstairs but didn't dare call the police.

Here the situation is special: it's inhabited mostly by elderly people, in an old urban area away from the city center, so remote it feels like a countryside village.

Jiang Zhi knew these people were trouble; she couldn't handle them alone, so not long ago she had called the police.

She pushed open the door and saw more than a dozen burly thugs crowded in the living room; He Mother swayed, her face ashen, frightened and flustered.

"I'll give you money—please let my son go, don't hurt him!" she said, her voice trembling.

The scarred thug kicked over the nearby sofa, sneering: "He Dong crippled my son's legs; I'll cripple his son too!"

He Mother dropped to her knees, sobbing: "No! Xiao Yin wants to run; he's supposed to bring glory to the country—you can't do this! Please, let him go—cut off my leg instead of his."

He Yin supported her body, speaking solemnly: "Mom, go back inside quickly!"

Saying that, he looked at the group before him and said: "Aren't you afraid of going to jail?"

The scarred thug snorted at his words, swinging the iron rod in his hand: "Jail? Heh, what's that? I, Wang Dadan, have nothing to fear!"

Saying that, he was about to let his men step forward.

"Police? We're on the fifth floor—yes, hurry over, these people are going to kill someone!" Jiang Zhi said, gripping her phone as she walked out of the room.

Hearing that, the scarred thug glared angrily, intending to deal with her first, when a sharp police siren sounded from afar, growing nearer.

They didn't expect the police to arrive so fast; they gave them a fierce glare, threw down a harsh warning, and left.

"I won't let you off."

After they left, He Mother collapsed to the floor; He Yin helped her up into a chair, saying: "Mom, rest here for a bit."

Having said that, he walked over to Jiang Zhi: "I'll send you home."

The police car arrived; that lot wouldn't dare cause trouble tonight, so he wanted to send her home first.

Jiang Zhi didn't ask anything else: "Okay."

They went downstairs, hailed a taxi nearby; He Yin watched her get in, the girl waved at him, her bewitching smile seeming able to dispel the world's gloom and darkness.

"Goodbye, A Yin."

He Yin stood at the roadside, tightly watching her face: "Goodbye."

Watching the taxi disappear into the night, he then turned and went back.

…

Here, Jiang Zhi in the taxi shouted to stop, paid the driver, and hurriedly got out.

She had 777 locate the thugs' position.

If she didn't deal with these people, that tragic plot would likely still happen.

Following the location, she came to the opposite side of a barbecue stall on the street and saw the thugs sitting around, drinking and eating barbecue.

They wouldn't give up easily; knowing the He family's address, they'd linger nearby, waiting for an opportunity.

Jiang Zhi waited across the street for several hours, until the group left the barbecue stall and headed toward the foot‑washing city.

On a deserted, remote road she blocked their path.

"What are you? Get out of my way, old man." a drunken man asked.

Jiang Zhi didn't move, saying: "How much money do you need to be willing to let the He family mother and son go?"

The scarred, burly man, half-drunk but clear-headed, frowned upon hearing and said: "What relation are you to the He family? Speaking up for them?"

Jiang Zhi crossed her arms, saying: "Just tell me, how much money do you want?"

The scarred burly man spat: "No amount of money can buy back my son's legs, so I will certainly cripple the legs of the He family's son."

Jiang Zhi lightly laughed: "Then there's nothing to discuss."

The scarred burly man ordered a subordinate nearby: "Go teach him a lesson."

That subordinate staggered over, and Jiang Zhi easily subdued him.

After that, another two or three came one after another, and they also fell at her feet.

Only then did the scarred burly man realize she was not simple, drawing a steel baton and stepping forward.

He was very sturdy in build, his speed and force in striking looked like they had been specially trained; no wonder he could be the boss of this bunch—without real skill he truly couldn't hold his own.

Jiang Zhi lacked his strength, so she could only win by speed.

But she didn't expect He Yin to suddenly run over, grab her and pull her behind him, then immediately go to deal with that scarred burly man.
