Chapter 8: Volume 1, Chapter 8: Dangerous Professor Drives Me Crazy (8)

~7 min read 1,311 words

This scene hits the soul hard.

Jiang Zhi glanced at the pus boil on the old man's face, her stomach churned, and she shrank back into the crack.

The old man was a bit overweight, clearly unable to get inside to pull her out, so he desperately thrust his arm in, trying to grab her.

Jiang Zhi wasn't going to let him succeed; she struggled to dodge his hand, her phone flew out and crashed to the ground, and she screamed at the top of her lungs:

"Huo, Teacher Huo!! Huo Yin!!"

Just as the old man's hand was about to reach Jiang Zhi's arm, something suddenly happened, and he was yanked completely out from outside.

Jiang Zhi squeezed her eyes shut, curled up in the corner, trembling violently, her ears filled with the old man's anguished screams from outside.

Until the screams ceased.

A low, rich voice came from outside.

"Zhizhi, it's me."

Hearing the voice, Jiang Zhi slowly lifted her head, facing the light streaming into the crack, and saw the man outside clearly.

"Huo, Teacher Huo?" Her voice shook, her black lashes clumped, wet with tears, she bit her lip, paused a few seconds, then said: "You, you're so slow."

The girl's beautiful, lush face was deathly pale, her eyes red from crying, her lovely dark eyes brimming with tears, the tip of her nose blue from cold, her body squeezed into the narrow crack, making her look especially lonely and pitiful.

Huo Yin furrowed his brows, an unknown emotion stirring in his chest, tinged with pain.

This made him ever more irritable.

He had never been in an uncontrollable situation before.

Before he could make sense of it, his waist tightened, a soft body pressed against him, and the girl collapsed into his arms, sobbing intermittently.

Her body was tense, as if she were terrified, and she hadn't yet reacted.

"... Sorry." He had come too late.

He shouldn't have just let her go home like that; otherwise this wouldn't have happened.

Jiang Zhi had cried enough, she loosened her grip on his waist, hastily wiped her tears, her voice still trembling: "It's fine."

She turned to pick up the scattered sanitary pads on the ground, but the man beat her to it and gathered them all.

"Thank you." She whispered her thanks.

The words were spoken.

Jiang Zhi glanced at the old man lying not far away in the snow, saw the blood staining the snow bright red, and panicked, asking: "Is he, is he dead?"

Huo Yin saw her look as if she were about to go to prison, the corner of his mouth twitched, and he teased: "Yeah, he's dead."

Jiang Zhi widened her eyes, her face growing paler, as if she were about to collapse at any moment, not allowing her to fall, she hurriedly pushed him, her voice rushed and incoherent:

"Run! You killed him because you saved me; I'll turn myself in, I'll say I killed him, it was self-defense, I'll get a lighter sentence."

Huo Yin stood frozen, seemingly not expecting her to say that, and after a long while found his voice: "Do you know what you're saying?"

Jiang Zhi was almost brought to tears by his urgency, "I know! Hurry and run, or else when people come it'll be bad!"

After staring at the girl's face for a long time, Huo Yin suddenly said: "He's not dead."

Jiang Zhi's expression turned shocked: "Ah?"

Huo Yin let out a light sigh and said: "I lied to you; he's not dead, he just fainted."

He thought she would be angry, because he deceived her with this.

But unexpectedly, the girl's tense brows and eyes relaxed, she let out a breath and said: "That's great, I thought he was dead; as long as he's not dead, that's fine; as long as he's not dead, that's fine."

After saying that, she walked over, lifted her smiling face, and waved at him: "Carry me home!"

Huo Yin's face sank: "Why aren't you angry? I lied to you."

Jiang Zhi heard him, thought for a moment, shook her head and said: "Let the lie be a lie; anyway the ending is good."

The ending is good.

Huo Yin's pitch-black, bottomless pupils reflected the face before him, his mind full of her words.

"Teacher Huo!" Jiang Zhi pouted, glared at him and asked: "You won't go back on your word, will you?"

We had clearly agreed that you'd carry her.

Huo Yin only felt as if something had entered his long-closed heart; that emotion was very familiar, appearing many times when he was with the girl.

He could hardly suppress it, only able to let it spread like a mad vine, gradually taking over his heart.

He soon realized what it was.

Huo Yin lowered his eyelids, killing intent churning in the depths of his dark eyes.

He knew very well that if he stayed with the girl, that feeling would escape his control.

He must kill her.

While there's still time.

Huo Yin lifted his gaze again, his expression returning to normal, his body slightly bent, and said: "Come up."

Jiang Zhi was lying on his back for the second time; the man's back was broad like a wall, and through his clothes one could faintly feel his strong, healthy back muscles, full of strength, giving a strong sense of security.

The alley was covered in deep snow; stepping on it sank in, the man bore an extra person's weight, his footprints grew deeper, his black suit pants quickly picked up snowflakes, the melting snow soaked through, seeping into his socks via his shoes.

Huo Yin felt nothing, his steps unhurried, walking on the thick snow.

"Huo Yin!"

A warm, moist voice fell beside his ear.

Huo Yin's body tensed slightly, he asked: "What's wrong?"

The girl wrapped her arms around his neck on his back slowly spoke, tinged with a hint of nervousness.

"I like you."

Her voice was soft, warm, and clear, mixed with a shy, delicate timidity.

Huo Yin's steps suddenly stopped.

The surrounding sounds seemed to have all disappeared, leaving only the girl's voice.

His icy heart began to pound violently.

It's too late.

When the girl appeared in his life, everything was already too late.

She was like a bundle of bright, scorching light; wherever she went, she dispelled all darkness.

Warm, pure.

Seeing him not speak for a long time, Jiang Zhi grew increasingly nervous, her face gradually paling, her eyes reddening all around.

"If you want to reject me, then, then don't speak!"

Huo Yin stepped forward and continued walking.

Until he walked out of the alley and reached the car, he set down the person on his back.

The girl standing before him lowered her head, her shoulders drooping, as if she had lost all strength.

Pitiful, much like a homeless little animal.

Huo Yin waited a few seconds, then slowly said, "Give me some time to think."

As soon as his words fell.

The black-haired girl swept away her earlier dejection and sorrow; her picturesque brows and eyes filled with smiling light, rippling with subtle brilliance, her clear black-and-white eyes gazing straight at him.

"I'll be waiting for you, Huo Yin."

Huo Yin nearly sank into her eyes, those eyes he had always wanted to take off.

Huo Yin realized that those eyes were most beautiful when alive.

If they were removed, they would lose all their luster.

The car stopped at the entrance of Jiang Zhi Xiaoqu.

Jiang Zhi, sitting in the passenger seat, lingered without getting out, and the man beside her did not urge her.

After hesitating for a long time, Jiang Zhi turned her head to look at him, her gaze evasive, and she said firmly, "Then, then when you finish your business and come back, you must tell me the answer."
