Chapter 87: Volume 1 Chapter 87  Skin Thirst x Evil Ghost x Obsession (11)

She rubbed the skin on her exposed arm, and a faint chill covered the pores, raising goosebumps.

She glanced around, then quickly went to the window, pulled open the curtains, letting the outside sunlight pour in to dispel the indoor chill.

The screen displayed the official plot countdown, with less than eight hours remaining before that curse would arrive.

And what followed was an endless, bloody, cruel massacre.

Jiang Zhi used this brief eight hours to order plenty of food, mineral water, and supplies via phone delivery.

The rented house is in a tube building of this old urban area, on the sixth floor; the lower-level security is imperfect, but anti-theft windows are installed outside, and the doors leading out are double-layered protective doors, which can only be broken with an electric saw or forced-entry tools.

That was enough to get through the first night.

After waiting two hours, the boxes of food delivered from the supermarket finally arrived; when she finished tidying up and stood, the clock on the wall read 5:40, the evening sunset filling the windowsill, announcing the day's end.

She also felt reassured, since Lu Yiluo, who had just died and become an evil ghost, had not fully recovered his abilities; even if he wanted to pester her, it was impossible tonight.

Jiang Zhi picked out a set of pajamas from the wardrobe, went to the bathroom, and prepared to take a shower.

The bathroom's decor is aged; the originally white ceramic tile walls' corners are stained with deep yellow grime, hard to clean; the space is not large, barely enough for two people.

Warm water flowed from the showerhead onto her head; she closed her eyes, squeezed some shampoo onto her hair and rubbed it in.

The shampoo had a fresh fruit scent that spread and filled the bathroom, as a thin mist rose.

A blurry shadow faintly appeared behind her, the dimness exuding a cold, eerie feeling.

Jiang Zhi was unaware, carefully washing her hair; as it neared completion, she suddenly felt a hint of cold at the tip of her tailbone.

Her motion froze instantly, she gripped the showerhead, her heart trembling: 'Brother Seven… is someone behind me?'

Jiang Zhi fears nothing but ghosts—especially the kind that appear and disappear without trace.

777 wasn't quite sure: 'Probably, probably yes.'

Upon hearing that, Jiang Zhi quickly reached out to grab the towel resting on the rack.

But her fingertip touched a patch of wet cold, as if…

as if someone had taken her fingertip into their mouth, licking and sucking it with an especially sensual intent.

Jiang Zhi swiftly pulled back her fingertip, turned her body, and stepped back until she was pressed against the cold wall, too afraid to open her eyes, trembling slightly.

'Who… who is there?'

No one responded for a long time; the chill in the bathroom gradually faded, as if it had never appeared.

Jiang Zhi hesitated for a long time, then opened her eyes to see nothing but empty space.

Everything seemed to be just her illusion.

Jiang Zhi hastily finished washing, put on her pajamas, ran to the bedroom, pulled up the covers, and felt a little safer.

777 comforted: 'Don't be afraid, he's already gone.'

Just as she thought, Lu Yiluo, who had become an evil ghost on the first night, could not move freely outside.

Jiang Zhi breathed a sigh of relief, lay down on the bed, and gradually felt sleepy.

The clock turned to nine at night.

The wail of sirens echoed continuously outside across the city, waking Jiang Zhi; she got out of bed, went to the window, and looked outside.

Next door is a long street that is usually bustling with pedestrians at night, lively and noisy, filled with the aroma of snacks.

But now, the long street was dimly lit, sharp cries rang out, and several police cars surrounded it, their headlights flashing red and blue.

Jiang Zhi faintly saw, through the weak streetlight, corpses strewn across the road and street, flesh and blood splattered; the scene was as cruel and terrifying as being in hell.

Even though Jiang Zhi had traversed countless worlds, she had never seen such a bloody scene even in the apocalypse; she clutched her chest and ran to the toilet to vomit.

Her stomach churned with nausea, and some of the food she had eaten that evening was vomited up.

When she stood up, her legs went weak; she leaned on the sink and began to wash herself little by little.

Sirens and screams rang incessantly in her ears, mixed with several gunshots; Jiang Zhi went to the living room and turned on the TV.

All TV channels on the set turned to static, except the sole Hua Guo Hua Vision News, which was broadcasting the emergency.

It urged all citizens to keep doors and windows tightly shut and not to go out no matter what happened.

This was a devastating disaster.

People cursed and turned into evildoers wielded weapons, killing anyone they saw, disregarding any law or regulation, fearing no danger.

Jiang Zhi's face turned pale; her phone beside her suddenly rang, she saw the caller ID and hurriedly answered.

'Where are you?' was Lu Zheng's voice.

Hearing his voice, Jiang Zhi felt a hint of safety deep inside, and she replied in a trembling voice, 'I'm at where I'm staying.'

Lu Zheng asked: 'Now lock your doors and windows; don't open the door for anyone who knocks. I'll come pick you up after I finish things here.'

Jiang Zhi acknowledged.

Lu Zheng's side paused, then he softly said: 'Don't be afraid.'

Jiang Zhi's nose felt sour, her voice a little choked: 'What… what happened?'

On Lu Zheng's end, gunshots rang out; he said, 'I'll come pick you up soon,' then hastily hung up.

Jiang Zhi raised an eyebrow, gently wiped the tear from her eye corner, and said, 'Everyone's busy looking after themselves, yet you're coming to get me.'

At this moment, most of the evildoers were heading toward the Lu family villa, filled with strong hostility.

Seeing Jiang Zhi rise to go out, 777 nervously asked: 'Host, where are you going?'

Naturally, Jiang Zhi was preparing to go and max out the last bit of Love Points for the antagonist Lu Yiluo.

She put on a black windbreaker outside, wore a hat, hid her face inside, pushed the door open, and went out.

Outside, the night was pitch black; aside from the faint, blurry streetlights, there was not a glimmer of light.

Since Lu Yiluo had installed a tracker on her, when she went out he would know immediately.

'Host, the antagonist is not yet in his complete form, so he cannot come to rescue you right away,' 777 said anxiously, fearing she might meet with an accident.

Those villains won't show pity; as soon as they encounter a person, they will use cruel means to kill.

Jiang Zhi replied, "Then I'll just stall for time until he arrives."

On the road, cars sped at 150 yards, flashing past the field of view like they were on a highway; every stretch of road revealed a smoking accident scene.

She had just reached the end of a road when a group of running students came toward her, their faces showing fear, desperately running as if ferocious beasts were chasing them.

One or two girls fell behind, screaming and crying.

Jiang Zhi saw this, furrowed her brows, and strode over.

Seeing clearly the two pursuers wearing terrifying masks, the masks looked like their faces, bearing vivid expressions, they fixed their gaze on the girls lagging behind, and their eyes burst with an excited killing intent.
