Shanlan and Bao San

The other Beastmen left with regret.

A Male of the Fennel Fish tribe swam before Chaosheng and stammered, "Thank you."

The sea area in front of the Ice Cave instantly became much quieter, leaving only a sorrowful-looking female and that little Dumbo octopus.

The female had pale skin and wore deep blue beast-hide clothing with a white stripe on her back; she persisted in staying where she was, and only after all the Beastmen had left did she summon the courage to look up, her gaze resolute.

"I beg you, help me!"

Seeing her appearance, a trace of reluctance stirred in Chaosheng's heart, but the incident with the Black Butterfly Shell female was still fresh in her mind; her gaze turned slightly cold, and she said indifferently, "Wait for the next time."

"No, no..." The female shook her head in disappointment and helplessness, still making a final effort, "There won't be a next time."

Her face was pale and gaunt with a sharp chin, as if she had no flesh on her, but her eyes were large and dark, always capable of evoking pity; at this moment, those eyes were full of pleading, "I beg you, as long as you save Bao San, I am willing to do anything!"

"Sorry, we cannot help..." Seeing that Chaosheng was in a difficult position, Yinxu issued an eviction order to this pitiful female.

There were plenty of pitiful Beastmen in the Polar Sea; one couldn't expect Sheng to save every single one of them.

"Wait." Chaosheng scrutinized the female, weighing her words before speaking, "Tell me, what is going on?"

Yinxu watched as a trace of helplessness and indulgence flashed in the depths of Chaosheng's eyes; Sheng was always so soft-hearted.

Baini covered his head, the weariness returning; seeing that there was nothing left for him to do, he planned to go back and sleep a while longer, "Sheng, remember to call me if anything happens."

"Mm."

As that dangerous Beastman walked away, the female relaxed slightly; a light of gratitude flashed in her eyes, and her body trembled with excitement, for she understood that Chaosheng was giving her a chance.

"I... my name is Shanlan, and I am a Rat Shark Beastman."

"My Beast Husband Bao San and I are both Wandering Orcs without a Tribe."

"Everything was fine at first, but some time ago, Bao San awakened an ability."

"Although his ability is not high, he constantly falls into a Spiritual Sea Riot."

"After a long time, he could no longer bear the torment, and it just so happened that the Whale Shark Tribe discovered some Sea Spirit Ginseng."

"But as Wandering Orcs, we have absolutely no Crystal Coins and cannot afford Sea Spirit Ginseng, so we had to seek out the Whale Shark Tribe to see if we could make an exchange with them."

"The Whale Shark Tribe agreed, and they let Bao San help them harvest the Sea Spirit Ginseng."

When Shanlan reached this point, her voice choked, and a hint of hatred appeared on her pale, sharp face, "At the beginning, we were very grateful to the Whale Shark Tribe for giving Bao San this opportunity."

"But after we went, we discovered that the Sea Spirit Ginseng grows inside the Black Rift Valley!"

"Black Rift Valley?" Chaosheng narrowed her eyes in confusion and subconsciously looked at Yinxu, "What is that?"

Yinxu explained, "The Black Rift Valley has steep and dangerous terrain, and there is substantial Black Filth floating inside."

Black Filth? Isn't that the thing that causes riots in a Beastman's Spiritual Sea?

Chaosheng's gaze turned cold and her heart grew heavy; she said to Shanlan, "Continue."

Shanlan caught her breath, clenched her fists to restrain her anger, and continued, "Bao San had only been harvesting Sea Spirit Ginseng there for two days before his Spiritual Sea fell into a riot again."

"Fortunately, the Whale Shark Tribe gave him a stalk of Sea Spirit Ginseng, which suppressed it."

"But after so many days, the effect of the Sea Spirit Ginseng on Bao San has already... already become negligible." Shanlan sniffled, lowered her head, and covered her face, weeping bitterly, "Bao San has been hiding outside for the past two days, refusing to see me."

"He said he won't live much longer, and he just wants to earn some Sea Spirit Ginseng for me so that I can find another Beast Husband to use it on later..."

Tears flowed out and merged into the cold seawater; Shanlan knelt on the ground, crying in agony, "Please save him, I really don't know what else to do."

"As long as you save him, I will do anything you ask..."

The female's painful crying echoed in her ears; Chaosheng knew she could not refuse. She lowered her eyes, masking the pity within them, "Alright."

"What?" Shanlan looked up in disbelief, seemingly thinking that the voice, which was as light as could be, was just a hallucination of her own.

Chaosheng chuckled, her tone gentle, "I said alright."

"In three days, bring your Beast Husband here."

"R-really?" Shanlan was stunned by the surprise, unable to believe she had truly moved this female.

"Yes." Chaosheng nodded with a smile.

"Thank you! Truly, thank you!" Shanlan bowed to her in gratitude; this was a sign of submission, "As long as you can save Bao San, I am willing to do anything for you."

After sending Shanlan away, Chaosheng's gaze fell upon the little octopus that was almost asleep on the reef.

Its round and petite body looked like an orange-red ball, with a pair of fleshy, ear-like fins growing on the top of its mantle; it stood there motionless, as if it had grown onto the reef.

Chaosheng's gaze was deep, and a wicked smile curled the corners of her lips, "Yinxu, we are having takoyaki tonight."

Eat octopus?!

Ahhh, someone wants to eat an octopus?!

The dull, lifeless black eyes gathered light; the little octopus shook its tentacles and fearfully shook its pair of fleshy fins, "Don't eat octopus! Octopus doesn't taste good!"

"Hahaha!" Having succeeded in her mischief, Chaosheng laughed happily; her beautiful eyes shimmered with purple light, and her laughter sounded like silver bells splashing against a clear spring.

Yinxu also chuckled, his warm and handsome face carrying a faint indulgence as he shook his head helplessly.

"..." Sensing that it had made a fool of itself, the orange-red body puffed up in annoyance, and its thin, cicada-wing-like fins fluttered up and down in protest.

Chaosheng finished laughing before she composed her expression, blinking her eyes as she looked at this ridiculous little fellow, "Little octopus, why haven't you left yet?"

"Have you been squatting here eavesdropping on us just to offer yourself as an extra dish for our dinner?"

"..." The two fleshy fins drooped, and the Dumbo octopus wiggled its tentacles, suddenly feeling a bit embarrassed, "Um..."

"I just wanted to ask if it's possible to bring another Beastman instead in three days."

"Hm?" Chaosheng raised her eyebrows, her eyes flashing with faint confusion, "What do you mean?"

"It's just..." the Dumbo octopus explained stammeringly, "I don't have an ability, so I don't need this."

"But my older brother really needs it; he is very ill right now."

"I came to beg for help this time for my brother."

"Could you please..." Not hearing Chaosheng's voice, its fleshy fins wobbled uneasily; the Dumbo octopus paused, feeling uncertain deep down, terrified that the pleasant voice might utter the devilish "no."

"I can."

The Dumbo octopus's fleshy fins stopped waving, its body stiffened, and it stole a glance at the little Mermaid's expression, repeatedly confirming that the voice just now hadn't been an illusion of its own.

"Ahem!" Chaosheng smiled and repeated, "I said I can."

"Really?" The Dumbo octopus wiggled its tentacles in surprise, moving back and forth on the reef, so happy it wished it could dance, "You aren't allowed to lie to me!"

"When the time comes, you must treat my brother."

"Mm." Chaosheng nodded patiently, the smile at the corners of her mouth impossible to hide.

It was rare to see such a cute sea beast in the ocean, so naturally, she couldn't help but offer a bit more patience.
