Chapter 34: Changing Places
Changing Places
Chaosheng's thoughts returned heavily to the Ice Cave.
The atmosphere in the cave was unusually eerie; Yinxu sat alone at the entrance, his gaze fixed straight outside, and the exquisite, handsome Beastman radiated a coldness that kept others at a distance.
Upon seeing Chaosheng return, the indifferent Beastman's eyes quickly glued onto her, his deep brown pupils trembling slightly, like a small beast seeking comfort.
"Sheng, you're back?"
The youth in the cave heard the movement, his low-set brows and eyes filled with joy, and the corners of his mouth couldn't stop curling up, revealing sharp tiger fangs.
Parting the seawater, Baini strode over in two or three steps with his long, slender legs; he excitedly took hold of Chaosheng's small hand, his unruly and unrestrained brows and eyes softening until they seemed to drip with water, his mouth grinning shyly as he felt the warmth and smoothness in his hand, and he couldn't help but rub the knuckles of her little finger.
After being glared at unhappily by Chaosheng, Baini looked at her with a fawning expression, unable to suppress his emotions as he acted like a spoiled child, "Sheng, where did you go?"
"You were gone for so long?"
"I didn't see you when I woke up."
Baini held Chaosheng's hand, speaking in a pitiful tone as he led her into the cave.
Yinxu, who had been sitting blankly at the entrance, saw this scene, his eyes darkening and the corners of his mouth pursing in displeasure; his burning heart felt as if it had stopped beating, falling into sour vinegar.
Baini chattered on, acting spoiled and ingratiating himself with Chaosheng, while the corner of his eye swept toward the figure at the entrance, and he smiled triumphantly.
"Sheng, I think I feel a bit better now."
"I'm very clear-headed, not sleepy at all."
Chaosheng sat on the Shell Bed, her beautiful large purple tail lying diagonally on the ground, with a few scattered pearls right at the tip of her tail.
"Sheng~"
Baini leaned against the side of the Shell Bed, lifting his eyes to admire his little Mermaid without blinking; every detail seemed to grow on the point that made his heart flutter.
"Hmm?"
Chaosheng's tone was light; she was not in high spirits, as her mind was currently filled with thoughts of Yu Holy Flower.
Baini pouted in displeasure, a faint sense of grievance showing in his bright black eyes, "You're ignoring me."
Chaosheng spared some of her attention, looking at Baini with faint confusion in her eyes, "Did I?"
"You did." Baini said righteously, counting on his fingers, "From the time you came back until now, you haven't said more than this one sentence to me."
Chaosheng frowned slightly, her expression indifferent, a hint of mischief on her slightly curved lips, "Oh, is that so?"
"It is." Baini lowered his voice, his clear, resonant voice gaining two parts of magnetism, and he lunged forward, naturally falling into Chaosheng's embrace, "Sheng, I am your Beast Husband, you must treat me well."
"You can't be so perfunctory with me."
Baini was guiding her bit by bit; he had long discovered that Sheng didn't seem to understand how Male and Female Beastmen interacted, and had even privately consulted with her already-married brother about it.
In fact, there were very few females as gentle and kind to their Beast Husbands as Sheng; most females treated Male Beastmen as tools to enhance their own strength and show off their own charm.
But the little Mermaid's occasional flashes of ignorance always made him feel he could take the opportunity to occupy that clean heart of hers, which had never been stepped upon by any other Beastman.
Chaosheng raised her hand, habitually stroking the messy hair at the back of Baini's head, and was just about to say something when she was interrupted by a voice.
"Sheng."
Yinxu walked over; the seawater rippled, and his alluring, floating white hair shone with an eerie, daring light in the faint sea glow.
"Hmm? What is it?" Chaosheng's train of thought was interrupted, and she looked up at Yinxu to ask.
"Didn't we say before that we wanted to change to a bigger place? I found a very good spot today."
Baini's neck, buried in Chaosheng's embrace, stiffened for a moment, then he lifted his head in displeasure, glaring fiercely at Yinxu to signal him to stop talking.
Yinxu acted as if he hadn't received Baini's look at all and continued, "If you have time another day, Sheng, I'll take you to see it."
"If you think it's good, we'll move there."
Chaosheng's purple eyes flickered; she vaguely remembered that there really was such a thing.
She didn't think much of it and replied, "Okay."
"Then let's find a time to go take a look."
"Sheng!" Baini suddenly lifted his head from Chaosheng's embrace, his round black eyes wet, looking just like someone who had been bullied.
Hearing this sound, a trace of helplessness flashed in Chaosheng's eyes, "What is it with you again?"
"Didn't we agree to move?"
Yinxu glanced at Baini with a faint gaze, as if looking at an ignorant little cub, "This place is remote, and that's not even mentioning the lack of food."
"Besides, the ice in this cave isn't sturdy; it might collapse at any time."
"It's too dangerous."
Yinxu said, half-truthfully, his pale eyelashes casting shadows on his eyelids, a desire that only he knew hidden in the depths of his eyes.
"That's true, too." Chaosheng had no objections; there was a pile of treasures on the rocks under the cave, all of which were Baini's dowry.
To avoid attracting the attention of other Beastmen, she had covered it with a thick layer of seaweed, disguising it as a high pile of seaweed.
If the new home was big, she could keep this pile of treasures right under her own nose and never have to worry about other Beastmen coveting them again.
"Hmph!" Baini turned his head away in a huff, sulking all by himself.
He had changed his mind now; he felt that this place being remote and hard to find was a great advantage.
After Chaosheng left today, many ill-informed Sea Beastmen had come looking for her.
He had driven them all away.
It wasn't good for his Sheng to be too popular; she put all her energy into those unrelated Beastmen, and her concern for him had lessened.
He now only hated that this sea area wasn't remote enough; it would be best if all these Sea Beastmen got lost.
Besides... besides, he and Sheng had met here, and having lived here for so long, he was reluctant to leave.
He wouldn't give in to Yinxu's wishes; Yinxu was definitely harboring bad intentions.
If Yinxu knew his thoughts, he would surely cry foul; what bad intentions could he have, other than wanting to not disturb each other when the Heat Period arrived?
Yinxu was not a Male like Baini, who had just reached adulthood and understood nothing.
"Alright." Chaosheng looked at Baini's aggrieved expression, helplessly tugged at the corner of her mouth, and then looked at Yinxu with an apologetic gaze, "Let's talk about this later."
"There are other matters now."
Yinxu lightly moved her eyebrows, her gaze flickering slightly: "What is it?"
"What?" Baini, who had been sulking to himself, immediately turned his head upon hearing this, afraid of missing even a tiny bit of news.
Chaosheng shook her head, her beautiful face looking listless, her voice low and deep, "It's not good news."
"The Yu Sheng Flower was snatched by Xizhi."
"She knew I used the Yu Sheng Flower to cleanse the Mental Sea for Beastmen, so she found the Yu Sheng Flower in advance and picked them all."
"What?" Baini's eyes widened, and he angrily gnashed his little tiger teeth, "I haven't even settled the score with her for the time she brought She Lan Grass to harm me!"
"This time she actually dares to come and bully Sheng!"
"Watch me go and tear her apart!"
The upward corners of Baini's eyes hooked with a hint of chill; he was not one of those Beastmen who feared rules or were cowardly and afraid of trouble.
So what if a Male cannot easily harm a female?
Now that he is already a Sixth Tier Beastman, so what if he kills that vicious female?
Who would dare to come and punish him?
