Chapter 8: Two Beast Husbands
Two Beast Husbands
Seeing that Chaosheng had agreed, a faint smile curled the corners of Yinxu's mouth. He walked to Chaosheng's side and pulled a finely polished red coral bracelet from his white velvet beast-hide clothing. "By custom, a Female Beastman must accept a Male Beastman's gift for the marriage to be truly settled."
The coral was polished very delicately, with exquisite sea flowers and seaweed carved onto it; the lustrous red color was pleasing to the eye.
Baini stared at the bracelet, wishing he could burn a hole through it. That's not right; how did he get the feeling this guy came prepared?!
He raised his eyes to glare at those cold, dark brown eyes. You just wait!
Yinxu's expression remained unchanged, the slight curl of his lips indicating he was in a good mood.
Chaosheng didn't overthink it and took the bracelet directly, thanking him politely, "Thank you."
"Mm, it's nothing." Yinxu paused, his long eyelashes blinking uncomfortably, his voice gentle, "I didn't know what you liked, so I only prepared this. If there is anything else you want, you can tell me."
Baini tilted his head, his pupils constricting, sparks flying in his sharp black eyes. He actually had a premeditated plan!?
……
Chaosheng sent off the Jingju Tribe and, looking back at the two Sea Beastmen behind her, felt only a headache.
Before parting, Baipei had held her hand and told her that Ni had a childish personality and hoped she could be tolerant of him.
Chaosheng could only nod repeatedly, telling them to rest assured.
"My place is small, so don't mind it."
Baini leaned in affectionately, pulling on Chaosheng's small hand, his tone carrying obvious smugness, "It's not like I haven't been there before."
Yinxu's gaze faltered for a moment, then he curled his lips into a smile, "It's fine."
Chaosheng's little nest was in a cave under the Ice Shore. She had found a large seashell to use as her bed and covered it with some fragrant sea flowers and seaweed.
Once they entered the water, both Chaosheng and Baini shifted into their beast forms. The ten-meter-long Orca couldn't help but thrash about, feeling the impact of the ocean waves.
As for Chaosheng, after turning into a Mermaid, she was only nearly two meters long from head to tail tip.
After swimming a few strokes, she looked at Yinxu, who was still in human form, her eyes carrying a faint, imperceptible confusion.
Yinxu spoke with a faint smile, "I'm used to being in human form."
"Alright." Chaosheng did not have the habit of getting to the bottom of things, nor did she want to pry into secrets others were unwilling to tell.
She led Baini and Yinxu to her little nest, and as she felt the water temperature gradually turn cold, Chaosheng knew she was home.
"Are you hungry? I still have some cod."
The cod had been caught last night; she had used her Witch Power to preserve it, so it was still fresh.
"Mm-hmm, I want to eat that yellow fish meat." Baini nodded excitedly, his round black eyes sparkling, immediately recalling the golden fish meat he had eaten that day—charred, but very fragrant and delicious.
Yinxu didn't understand which fish meat Baini was talking about. He had eaten cod, but never yellow fish meat. However, he didn't show it on his face and said somewhat reservedly, "I'll have the same as you."
Chaosheng's hand holding the cod paused. She had forgotten that this newcomer didn't know she could roast over a fire.
But since she had already decided to take him as a Beast Husband, there were some things he would know sooner or later.
After building up her mental resolve, she hugged five or six cod and said to Baini and Yinxu, "Let's go, let's go ashore."
"Okay!" Baini nodded readily.
"?" Yinxu didn't understand why they were going back up after just coming down, but he was too embarrassed to ask and had to follow their figures as they swam upward.
Why swim to the shore? Naturally, because you can't light a fire in the water!
Upon reaching the Ice Shore, Baini turned into his human form. Chaosheng remained in her Mermaid form; she sat curled on the Ice Shore, the tip of her tail hitting the cold water surface, creating ripples, while Baini and Yinxu surrounded her on the left and right.
Chaosheng put down the fish in her arms and directed Baini and Yinxu to clean the fish meat bit by bit.
Then, placing the cleaned fish meat neatly on the ground, Chaosheng closed her eyes. Her desolate gaze reflected the flickering flames. She gathered her Witch Power in both hands, and several fish instantly rose and hung in the air, bright yellow flames surrounding the cod, roasting the delicious fish meat bit by bit.
"This...?" Yinxu looked at the scene before him in disbelief. The bright yellow flames carried a dangerous aura, causing a trace of fear to arise in Yinxu's heart. This...
This Female Beastman has supernatural abilities!?
She is clearly an unmarried Female Beastman, yet she actually has supernatural abilities?!
A myriad of questions were hidden in Yinxu's heart, but he knew now was not the right time to ask, so he could only watch quietly as the shocking scene unfolded before him.
Is this a supernatural ability? He had never seen such a supernatural ability before.
"Sizzle, sizzle..."
The fish meat was roasted to a golden color, the fish fat releasing a mouth-watering aroma.
Baini watched eagerly, "Sheng, can we eat it yet?"
Chaosheng took a look; it was just about ready.
She moved her fingertips again, and the bright yellow flames vanished, replaced by a thin, pale purple film that wrapped around the piping hot fish meat, sending the six fish in front of the three of them.
"Eat."
The fish meat touched their skin, losing the unbearable heat, but not losing a shred of its meaty fragrance.
Baini gobbled the fish down, eating an entire fish in one bite, and praised with satisfaction, "Sheng, it's really delicious!"
"Thank you." Chaosheng looked at the fish disappearing at light speed from Baini's hand and asked with some concern, "If you don't have enough, how about I give you mine too?"
Baini, however, thought Chaosheng felt he was eating too much. His ear tips twitched, and he lowered his head somewhat shyly, "No need, I can just go hunt for myself later."
With an Orca's physique, it was normal to eat a lot in one meal.
Yinxu tasted the unique fish meat; it was so fragrant he didn't even have time to talk. After finishing a fish in a few bites, he looked at Chaosheng, who was tearing the fish meat to eat bit by bit, and panicked inwardly—would the Female Beastman think he was eating too much too?
He secretly mimicked the Female Beastman's way of eating fish, tearing the meat delicately to feed into his mouth, but one bite wasn't even enough to get between his teeth; he couldn't taste anything at all.
He lowered his head, feeling somewhat discouraged, and tore off a large chunk of meat to eat.
Time passed bit by bit. After Chaosheng finished one fish, she couldn't eat anymore and divided the other fish between Baini and Yinxu.
After they finished eating, Chaosheng set up a posture for a conversation. She closed her eyes slightly, her gaze drifting toward the cold, calm ocean, and she reached one hand into the seawater; it was bone-chillingly cold.
"Let's talk." Her melodious voice drifted into Baini and Yinxu's ears along with the sea breeze.
"?"
"?"
Baini and Yinxu both looked at her in confusion, seemingly not understanding what she was saying.
Chaosheng turned slightly, her eyes looking at Baini with a half-smile, "You, don't you have something to explain to me?"
"As for you," Chaosheng looked at the silent Yinxu, her tone shifting, "confess your purpose to me."
The Witch, who understood the human heart well, did not believe in love at first sight; although she could sense that Yinxu had no ill intentions, she did not want to taste the bitterness of being hidden from and deceived again.
Baini blinked guiltily, his gaze drifting; his lips, neither thick nor thin, opened and closed silently as if wanting to explain but held back by something, and he rubbed his hair in self-loathing. Yinxu kept his head down and said nothing, the soft white fur on his shoulders brushing against his handsome cheeks, which, paired with his slightly dejected expression, added a sense of fragility that invited pity.
"Who will speak first?" Chaosheng said in a deep voice, feigning anger, her pair of purple eyes glancing at them with indifference.
Baini stole a glance, thinking Chaosheng was truly angry, and hurriedly spoke up, "I'll say it, I'll say it!"
Instantly, the gazes of both Chaosheng and Yinxu were focused on Baini; Baini's upturned brows and eyes drooped listlessly as he slowly explained, "Sheng, the reason I urged you to agree during the day was because it is indeed a rule of the Polar Sea, and I was afraid that if you refused, those Beastmen would be detrimental to you."
Although the Jingju Tribe had impressive strength, they could not withstand so many Beastmen. For the first time, Baini felt distressed because of his own insufficient strength; if only he were a little stronger.
"And he..." Baini glanced at Yinxu, his words carrying a hint of sourness and defiance, "he is a Tier 6 Ability user, his strength is barely passable."
"Once you bond with both of us, you will possess our abilities, and by then, no one in the Polar Sea will dare to bully you."
The youth's straightforward and sincere words left Chaosheng stunned; the heart she had built high defenses around softened abruptly, and her absent-minded purple eyes shimmered with moisture as she suddenly began to like this simple and direct Beastman world.
After finishing, Baini lowered his head, looking at Chaosheng cautiously, his sharp voice full of pleading, "Sheng, please don't be angry, okay?"
The simple Orca truly thought he had made the little Mermaid angry; he felt happy that the little Mermaid didn't want to marry other Beastmen, yet he was also afraid that the little Mermaid would be angry and ignore him because of it.
