Chapter 88: Ice Snow Bear Habitat

~7 min read 1,298 words

Ice Snow Bear Habitat

The ice-covered ground, radiating a biting chill, was completely desolate. Yinxu led Chaosheng behind a large boulder, where a patch of blue-green grass grew in the crevice between the rock and the ground.

The deep blue leaves were covered in a thin layer of frost, shimmering with a crystalline, cold light; they were currently shrinking back into the corner in fear, as if terrified of being noticed.

Chaosheng crouched down, a gleam of joy gradually rising in her eyes as she stared at them, "It really is White Cold Leaf!"

She reached out her small hand, feeling the frost-cold temperature radiating from the leaves. The tender leaves gently brushed against Chaosheng's hand, the frost-glow flickering like light and shadow.

Yinxu lowered his eyes slightly, his dark brown gaze catching every move Chaosheng made, a trace of gentle amusement rippling through them, "That's good then."

"As long as it's the White Cold Leaf you spoke of."

"What should we do now? Should we harvest all of them?"

"Hmm..." Chaosheng looked at the blue-green seedlings before her, a touch of deep thought gathering in her eyes, "Let's pick two to take back and test first."

"I want to see the effect."

There was no telling if the effects of the White Cold Leaf would change if moved to a different place.

One always had to test it first.

Speaking of this, Chaosheng suddenly raised her head to look at Yinxu, her crimson lips moving slightly, "By the way, do Beastmen usually come here?"

"Will other Beastmen discover or even destroy the White Cold Leaf?"

Destroy?

Yinxu curled his lips slightly, a trace of mockery flashing through his eyes, and he shook his head faintly, "No."

"No Beastmen will come here."

This was the habitat of his Ice Snow Bear Beastmen; ever since his mother and father passed away, he had left this place.

It was just that recent matters had been pressing on him until he could barely breathe, so he had returned here to clear his mind.

He hadn't expected to encounter this patch of small grass seedlings that looked exactly as Sheng had described.

Sensing that Yinxu's mood had dampened significantly, Chaosheng tightened her grip on the White Cold Leaf seedlings, a dark shade passing through her eyes, "Yinxu."

Yinxu looked at her in confusion, "Hmm?"

"What's wrong?"

"Are you..." Chaosheng paused, asking tentatively, "Do you have something on your mind?"

Her long, seaweed-like purple hair hung down to the ice, reflecting a hazy silhouette that swayed slightly with the chilly breeze.

The little Mermaid's voice was clear and crisp; it wasn't loud, yet it fell precisely into Yinxu's heart.

Yinxu's breath hitched, a helpless smile touching his lips, "Sheng..."

He also crouched down, his line of sight level with Chaosheng's. His gaze fell upon the little Mermaid's misty, dreamlike eyes and her slightly trembling eyelashes. His large, well-defined hand touched the back of the little Mermaid's head. The little Mermaid blinked uncomfortably, looking at him in confusion.

The amusement in Yinxu's eyes deepened. His scorching breath sprayed onto the little Mermaid's face, and only after seeing a faint pink flush spread across her fair, translucent skin did he triumphantly withdraw his hand.

"What are you doing?" Chaosheng frowned, looking at him with displeasure.

Yinxu let out a muffled laugh, his deep eyes filled with fragmented tenderness, though his tone carried a distinct firmness, "I want to kiss you."

Their scorching breaths intertwined, white hair hooked into soft purple hair, his prominent Adam's apple bobbed, and his broad embrace was forceful and strong.

The hand gripping the little Mermaid's slender waist tightened further.

After a long while, Chaosheng finally pushed Yinxu away, gasping for air, "Hoo..."

A mischievous smirk curled the corner of Yinxu's mouth; his gentle, jade-like face was full of satisfaction. He tilted his head back contentedly and lightly wiped his lips.

It seemed the little Mermaid's scent still lingered there.

Just as Chaosheng caught her breath, her vision went dark. Yinxu cornered her between the giant rocks, his gaze affectionate and infatuated as he looked at her flushed lips, "Sheng, my concern is just the hope that you will look at me more."

"Don't neglect me."

His slightly hot fingertips touched the corners of her mouth that had just been thoroughly bullied. The desire in his heart rose again, his elegant voice carrying a numbing huskiness, "Will you?"

Chaosheng blinked rapidly, her long, curled eyelashes fluttering incessantly, her heart thumping wildly. Help, Yinxu seemed like a demon right now, the kind of demon that could cost someone their life.

"Will you?"

Yinxu tilted his head, his deep, dark gaze landing on the little Mermaid's fair, slender neck; it seemed he hadn't kissed there yet.

"Hmm? Will you?"

It seemed that if the little Mermaid said no, the next step would be those familiar thin lips leaving one after another bewitching, ambiguous red marks on her fair, sensitive neck.

"Okay... okay."

Chaosheng looked at the silver moon hanging alone in the black sky, her deep purple eyes slightly unfocused, her lips parted slightly as she made the compromise.

A hint of regret appeared in Yinxu's eyes as he stared at Chaosheng. He slowly stood up, his voice low, "Alright then."

"Let's pick two White Cold Leaves to take back now."

After taking advantage of the situation, Yinxu knew when to stop.

White Cold Leaf?!

Chaosheng's eyes fixed, and then she suddenly looked to the side. Seeing the White Cold Leaf growing on the ice, completely unscathed, she let out a sigh of relief.

Scared to death, thank goodness the White Cold Leaf was fine.

The movements just now... were a bit intense; thankfully, they hadn't been harmed.

After Chaosheng chose two White Cold Leaves, she prepared to stand up, and a slender, powerful hand appeared before her eyes.

"Hmm?"

"Let's go."

A gentle radiance shone in his warm eyes, and his palm, carrying a scorching body temperature, pulled her up.

Then he took her hand, their fingers interlaced tightly.

The moonlight was vast, illuminating their blurred figures and casting a pair of shadows together.

Baini hurriedly entered the cave, only to find it cold and empty, with only Changye the Beastman inside.

Sheng is not here?

Did she go out?

His breathing grew two parts heavier, and Baini darkened his gaze, looking at Changye who was sitting bored on a straw mat, "Where is Sheng?"

"Where did she go?"

Changye lifted his eyelids, cast a faint glance at him, and replied indifferently: "She went out with that Ice Bear Beastman."

"That Ice Bear Beastman said he found some kind of leaf, so he took her out."

A leaf!?

Baini tightly knitted his sword-like brows and ground his tiger tooth with a squeaking sound; this was a sign of his agitation.

He looked at Changye, his tone carrying two parts impatience, "Then where did Sheng go?"

"Do you know?"

Changye closed his eyes and rolled them slightly, "How would I know that?"

"They didn't tell me anything and just left on their own."

Black, messy hair fell down, obscuring his vision; Baini's handsome face was gloomy, and he hesitated between waiting here for Sheng to return or heading back to the Jingju Tribe first.

He let out a shallow breath, his probing gaze landing on Changye, "Did they say roughly when they might be back?"

Changye shook his head, a trace of loneliness flashing in his deep black eyes, "No."

"They didn't tell me anything."

"Sigh!"

A string of small bubbles floated upward; Baini walked to the cave entrance, his black eyes staring into the space ahead, and he irritably rubbed the messy hair at the back of his head.

Sheng...

A faint sound of seawater being parted appeared.

A Beastman is coming.
