Chapter 20: This is Pirates

~7 min read 1,325 words

After waiting for people to lift him over, good guy, he was shot more than twenty times.

If it weren't for Karl’s Holy Light hanging his life, I’m afraid he would have hiccuped long ago.

Karl helplessly used Holy Light to heal him, while asking: "What’s going on?"

"Uh, this guy thought that with your Holy Light, he could be fearless, so..."

"Hiss~"

Karl took a deep breath and looked at the reckless man who had been shot more than twenty times in shock. I didn't give you a Berserk BUFF either!

Why do you still treat yourself as a Berserker? No wonder you were shot more than twenty times. You deserve it! If it weren't for his Holy Light hanging his life, this guy would definitely die.

"Sigh~"

Karl let out a long sigh, chanting in his heart, he is a teammate *3

After two Holy Light bullets, this reckless man finally regained consciousness. After seeing Karl, he seemed to understand something, and his expression became excited.

"Thank you, Karl! It, it was me who was too impulsive. Mainly because I saw those civilians killed by pirates, I don't know why I..."

"This is not your fault, but you must remember that only a living Navy can practice justice."

"Mm, I remember!"

Ten minutes later, the gunfire in the town gradually disappeared, and the Navy was cleaning up the mess.

"Karl, the Firearm Pirates have 32 members in total. 20 were killed, 12 were captured alive. We had zero casualties; it can be called a complete victory!"

"This is all thanks to you! If it weren't for your ability, how could we have taken down the Firearm Pirates without any injuries!"

"That's right! Long live Karl!" "Long live Karl!"

The recruits were extremely excited and began praising Karl one after another, making Karl feel a bit embarrassed, after all, he really was just slacking off!

"Ahem, everyone, no need to get excited. Although I used my ability to assist you, in the end, it was you who took down all these pirates. This is not my credit, nor the credit of any single person."

"This is the collective effort of everyone! The Navy will prevail! Justice will prevail!"

Karl was well-versed in using this set of motivational tactics; he had encouraged his subordinates this way back at the 108th Branch.

Seeing the spirited expressions of his colleagues, Karl couldn't help but sigh that chicken soup really is the primary productive force for humanity!

Just as the Navy was cheering with arms raised, a middle-aged man walked excitedly toward Karl.

"Thank you! You Navy arrived just in time. If it weren't for you, the residents of our town would likely be in grave danger!"

"You are too kind; this is what we in the Navy should do. Binz, take some men and return the treasures and other items stolen by the Firearm Pirates to the townspeople."

"Yes!"

Hearing Karl say this, the middle-aged man was even more moved to tears, thanking the Navy members one by one. The recruits all stood tall and proud, full of spirit.

Ain walked to Karl's side, pointed at a group of pirates tied up Move Move Like dumplings, and asked, "How should we deal with this scum?"

"How else? Are we supposed to send these guys to Impel Down?"

Ain was stunned and asked with some hesitation, "You mean, have them all..." Then Ain made a throat-slitting gesture.

"Who told them to be pirates? If you're going to live that life, you have to have this kind of awareness."

Upon hearing this, the captain of the Firearm Pirates, Derman, shouted excitedly at Karl: "No, you can't kill me! I've already surrendered! According to Navy regulations, you cannot kill me!"

"That's right, you can't do this! We know we were wrong! We are willing to go to Impel Down to repent!"

The pirates were suddenly in an uproar; they would die if they didn't surrender, and they would die if they did.

Wouldn't that mean the surrender was for nothing?

These few pirates actually understood Navy regulations quite well, but regulations are rigid, while people are flexible.

Ten-year veteran Karl, with a smile on his face, walked slowly to Derman, who was shouting the loudest, and drew his military saber toward him.

Derman subconsciously closed his eyes, and yellowish liquid seeped from his pant leg, pooling on the ground to form a black puddle.

But after waiting for a long time, he didn't feel any pain. He opened his eyes in confusion, only to find that the rope binding him had been cut by Karl, and his hands were now free to move.

"Take it!" Karl picked up a pistol and handed it to Derman.

"Huh?"

Derman swallowed hard, trembling, not daring to take it.

The training camp recruits watching from the side were also full of confusion, not knowing what kind of trick Karl was playing.

"I told you to take it!"

Karl shouted loudly, aiming the pistol at Derman, as if he would shoot him if he didn't take it.

"I'll take it! I'll take it!!!"

Derman's back was already soaked with sweat; he lifted his trembling right hand and slowly reached for the pistol.

'Bang!'

A bloody hole appeared in the center of Derman's forehead; his eyes were full of confusion as he fell to the ground with a thud.

"Captain!" "Boss!!!"

"Everyone saw it! He wanted to grab my pistol to attack me, so I shot him! This was forced self-defense!"

"Don't go snitching on me to Master Zefa later!"

The recruits present were stunned for a moment, then reacted and quickly chimed in: "Ah, yes, yes, yes!"

"Don't worry! Karl, we aren't those kinds of petty people." "That's right, we can all testify for you."

The pirates, however, looked as if their parents had died, their eyes filled with fear as they looked at Karl.

This Navy man's heart is truly dark! He could have killed the captain directly, but he insisted on making the captain die "reasonably." He really is... I'm dying of laughter...

"This uncle, if I'm not mistaken, you are the mayor of this town, right?"

The middle-aged uncle nodded: "Yes, my name is Lajied, the mayor of Spring Rain Town."

"Pat~"

Karl slapped the pistol into the mayor's hand, originally intending for him to decide the fate of these pirates himself, but he didn't expect the latter to be startled.

"Ahem, Uncle Lajied, no need to be nervous." Then Karl whispered in his ear: "I'll leave these pirates for you to handle. I think you should understand what I mean..."

Lajied calmed down, turned his head to look at the tied-up pirates, and a flash of anger crossed his eyes.

"Don't worry! Officer, I will absolutely not let this scum go."

Karl patted the mayor's shoulder with satisfaction, turned to the recruits, and shouted: "Let's go! The Hunting Knife Pirates are still waiting for us!"

"Oh oh oh!!!"

The Navy that landed on Spring Island retreated Move Move Like the tide, without taking a single cloud with them.

After the Navy left, the townspeople, having survived the disaster, turned their eyes to the 11 tied-up pirates.

"It's you! You killed my husband and stole all the money in our house!"

A flash of panic crossed the eyes of one of the pirates, and he roared in shock and anger: "What do you want to do! I didn't do it on purpose, who told him to resist me!"

"I want you to pay with your life!"

A middle-aged woman with red eyes rushed toward a pirate wearing a yellow top, hacking fiercely with a curved blade she had picked up.

Blood splashed onto her face, but it did nothing to alleviate the grief in her heart.

On the way back to the internship ship, listening to the occasional gunshots and screams, Karl smiled without a word.

This is the fate pirates deserve.
