Chapter 22: Coastal War

~9 min read 1,759 words

Fish-men have a unique advantage in the water; as long as he does not want to appear, trying to catch him is as difficult as ascending to heaven.

The Clown frowned; he had not expected that there would be such a race on Luo Di's ship. A few days ago, he had ambushed the Straw Hat Pirates outside Arlong Park on Ke Mi Nuo Qun Dao, but he had not expected the other side to be so powerful, and he had only managed to escape after losing over a dozen of his subordinates.

He understood that Luo Di might also be difficult to deal with, so he used a Den Den Mushi to contact Honey Queen, who had already left Clockwork Island and was currently selecting male concubines in a nearby country, wanting to join forces with her to eliminate Luo Di's crew and then take Ka Li Na back to report to Da Xiong Wang, making up for the mistake of letting her escape before.

"My lord, we cannot track the fish-man's position; he swims too fast," one subordinate shouted.

The Clown said, "Ignore him for now, bring the ship to shore quickly; I don't believe he can still run once he's on land."

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh.

At this moment, several cannonballs were fired from Luo Di's large ship.

Just as the cannonballs were about to hit the ship, the Clown immediately leaped up, waving the long sword in his hand in mid-air, precisely slicing the cannonballs apart. The split cannonballs fell into the water, exploding with a splash.

At this moment, a red dot flickered in the Clown's eyes, and as he tilted his head, a bullet grazed past his head after the sound of a gunshot.

"Honey Queen!"

Following the Clown's shout, Honey Queen on the ship extended her arm, transforming into a mass of mucus that flew to the Clown's feet. The Clown stepped on the mucus, used it to gain leverage in mid-air, and with a flip of his body, landed on the deck of his own ship.

"Kill them!"

As the Clown shouted, his subordinates all raised their weapons with fierce and malicious expressions, and the ship accelerated forward.

Honey Queen stood at the bow of the ship on the deck and snapped her fingers; all the pirates on the ship held swords, guns, and other weapons, ready for action.

Between the two ships, there were over a hundred pirates, a number far exceeding Luo Di's Blood Calamity Pirates.

A short, fat crew member wearing a white bear suit walked to Honey Queen's side and said with an expectant look, "Queen, would you like to step on me?"

Honey Queen blinked: "Come on, I'll give you this opportunity."

As soon as she finished speaking, the white bear man immediately showed excitement; the white bear suit expanded, turning into a large ball, and he jumped directly into the sea.

Honey Queen transformed into mucus and rose, landing on his back to manifest again, and the white bear man swam rapidly toward the position of Luo Di's ship.

At this moment, Gai Ou suddenly rushed over from the sea, lunging fiercely toward Honey Queen's position.

Just as Gai Ou was about to touch her, the corners of Honey Queen's mouth curled up, and her right hand transformed into mucus, grabbing Gai Ou by the neck.

Being grabbed, Gai Ou immediately felt a sense of suffocation and forcibly used Fish-Man Karate with his arm, drawing out seawater and pouring it onto the mucus that was gripping him.

Splash. Gai Ou fell back into the sea.

"Tsk tsk, quite clever, aren't you?" Honey Queen laughed seductively, licking the corner of her mouth with her tongue: "I don't have a fish-man male concubine yet; you look quite sturdy, so I'll just capture you and take you back."

At the same time, the white bear man took a cannonball out of the pocket on his chest and threw it toward Gai Ou's position.

Bang!

The cannonball stirred up a splash; although Gai Ou dodged in time, he was still pushed back a short distance by the shockwave. When he prepared to find an opportunity to attack again, the white bear man was already carrying Honey Queen close to Luo Di's ship.

My combat experience is still too poor; I must hold these small fry back... Gai Ou thought to himself, swimming toward the Poker Pirates' ship behind.

Every time he found an opportunity to rush onto the deck, the Clown would slash at him with his sword as if he had predicted it in advance. Gai Ou exchanged a few moves with the Clown using Fish-Man Karate, but with the pirates on the ship hacking and slashing at him, he had no choice but to return to the sea to hide for the time being.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh.

Xiao En directed the crew to fire cannons, but the Clown precisely used his sword to cut the cannonballs apart every time, while the white bear man under Honey Queen's feet threw cannonballs to counter-fire against theirs, failing to block their advance, and they soon rushed onto the shore.

The Poker Pirates were too numerous; although some were killed by Gai Ou at the cost of his own injuries, most of them still rushed onto the shore.

The ship's ladder was lowered, and the pirates of the Poker Pirates revealed their desire for slaughter, charging toward the Blood Calamity Pirates.

Seeing this, Xiao En pointed his sword at the enemy's position: "For the honor of the Blood Calamity Pirates, follow me and counter-attack!"

"Kill!" The crew members charged toward the enemy with weapons in hand; even though the numerical gap was large, they did not care at all. Those on the ship now basically had the resolve to die at any moment.

"Seeking death," the Clown, standing in front, said, and just as he was about to slash his long sword at the charging Blood Calamity Pirates crew, a red dot suddenly flickered in his eyes. Before he could react, a purple-blue fist obscured his vision.

The Clown hastily used his long sword to block, but the force of Star Platinum's fist was immense, directly knocking him back several meters.

The Clown stuck his long sword into the ground to steady himself, the web of his hand holding the sword numbed by the impact, and Luo Di's figure slowly walked out from not far away.

The Clown was knocked back, and his subordinates stopped in their tracks, looking at Luo Di with astonishment.

Seeing Luo Di and Ka Li Na, the Clown's eyes were fierce, as if he wanted to tear them to shreds.

Honey Queen stood on the other side, looking at the leisurely Luo Di, and said seductively: "Little brother Blood Calamity, what a sturdy body; I am quite fond of you."

"Honey Queen!" Ka Li Na gritted her teeth, a light of hatred erupting in her eyes.

"Don't look at me like that, little sister; big sister truly hoped you would marry His Majesty Da Xiong Wang, which is why I gave you that education of love," Honey Queen said seductively.

Boom!

Just as she finished speaking, a massive impact struck her face, directly piercing through her head, and mucus splattered everywhere.

Although she was an Ability User, she did not have Observation Haki and could not see any of Star Platinum's movements.

Luo Di was also puzzled; these guys were fighting, so why talk so much? Did they not understand the principle that villains die from talking too much?

Sure enough, the intelligence of the people here was not high.

"You bastard, what did you do to the Queen?!" Seeing Honey Queen get hit, the white bear man's eyes erupted with a fierce light, and he took a cannonball out of his pocket, preparing to throw it at Luo Di.

Bang!

A bullet accurately hit his forehead, and the white bear man lay on the ground. Smoke rose from the barrel of the gun in Ka Li Na's hand, her eyes indifferent.

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh. Several cannonballs were fired from the ship opposite.

Luo Di waved his palm, and the Ripple flowed; the shrubs on the ground were pulled, directly colliding with the incoming cannonballs. With a few bangs, dust and smoke filled the shore, making the vision of those nearby blurry.

The sea surface suddenly rose, and a large wave almost overturned the Poker Pirates' ship. The remaining gunners on the ship stumbled and fell; Gai Ou stepped on the sea current and leaped onto the deck again, rushing toward the gunners who had not yet steadied themselves, and snapped their necks with a crack.

In the smoke and dust, the two pirate crews stood in a standoff, both groping for the other's position.

The Clown was preparing to ambush Luo Di when the red dot in his eyes flickered again; Star Platinum had already teleported in front of him, and his fists fell like raindrops.

"Ora ora ora ora!"

Facing Star Platinum's overwhelming offensive, the Clown could only barely block, his footsteps retreating continuously.

He was just about to find an opening to stab his sword into Star Platinum's chest when he suddenly felt a chill on his back.

Luo Di had already disappeared from his original position.

"Who is the one who doesn't know whether they are living or dying?"

Before the words had even faded, Luo Di's fist, imbued with the Scarlet Ripple, had already smashed toward the back of the clown's neck.

Boom!

Even with Observation Haki, the clown's speed was limited; unable to dodge in time, he was sent flying into the nearby beach by Luo Di's punch. His longsword slipped from his hand, but he quickly retrieved it, performed a kip-up to stand, and tried to lock onto Luo Di's position.

A red dot flickered as Star Platinum attacked again; the clown raised his longsword to thrust, but the blade was caught by Star Platinum's clapped palms.

A blur of afterimages flickered before his eyes as Star Platinum instantly transformed into the appearance of Luo Di, his ink-black palms clamping onto the clown's longsword.

At the same time, Star Platinum had already appeared behind the clown.

"Platinum Double Ghost Clapping Gate."

Clang!

The thick, purple-blue palms slammed fiercely against both of the clown's temples; the clown felt a sudden shock, followed by the world spinning, his body going limp as he collapsed onto the beach, his lips trembling, and the Luo Di before his eyes appearing in waves of afterimages.
