Chapter 29: The Kingdom's War

~7 min read 1,344 words

"Those lowly commoners, actually wanting me to send the army to fight the Krieg Pirates for their sake; they really think too highly of themselves. If it weren't for the fact that those people over there are pirates, I would have dragged them out to parade through the streets before beheading them in public." Inside the royal palace, Owen hummed.

"Hehe, seeing their heads fall off is just so delightful. Father, I still want to see heads roll, let's capture a few more commoners." Prince Carter began to clap excitedly.

"Your Majesty Owen, this is bad!"

A guard rushed in to report; outside the palace, heads were bobbing in panic as nobles arrived at the entrance one after another.

"Ah, are there more commoners coming? I want to go, I want to go!" Carter was so excited that snot even flowed out.

"No, that's not it. It's those pirates who have already arrived outside the Wang Cheng. The nobles have all come to seek refuge and are currently outside the palace. You should go take a look quickly," the guard reported.

"What?!" Owen's pupils dilated, and he hurried out of the palace.

At this moment, the nobles were all looking at Owen with terrified expressions; their former air of superiority had vanished completely.

"Your Majesty Owen, those pirates are too rampant! You must go and suppress them quickly!" a noble shouted.

Having heard of Krieg's reputation, Owen also felt a wave of panic. The Lv Yin Wang Guo was sparsely populated, earning its profits by growing fruit and trading with surrounding islands. All the guards in the Wang Cheng combined totaled about two thousand. There had been experiences with pirate incursions before, but they were always small-scale pirate crews; they didn't need the navy, as their own guards could quickly quell them.

But the last few years had been very peaceful. The palace nobles were greedy for pleasure, spending their days in debauchery, and he hadn't bothered to manage the guards' training. He didn't know what level they were at now; after all, they had never encountered a war of such scale.

"How many of them are there?" Owen asked.

"About five hundred," the guard replied.

Carter's eyes gleamed: "Oh ho, only five hundred? We have two thousand! Father, hurry and kill them, but leave some alive for me to use as toys."

"Ah, sure."

Luo Di responded casually. Including the remnants of the Krieg Pirates, he now had about five hundred pirates standing behind him. Each person held a weapon, and as they gazed at the magnificent palace, endless desire appeared in their eyes.

"Boys, today is the day." Luo Di waved his hand: "Break the city for me!"

"Charge!" The pirates rushed toward the palace entrance one after another.

A sturdy white figure quickly leaped to the city gate, raised the halberd in his hand, lowered his center of gravity, took a deep breath, and slashed down fiercely.

Crack! The city gate was instantly split in two. Gai Ou then performed an upward strike, sending half of the gate flying into the city, hitting a guard just right and sending both the man and the gate flying away.

"Fight for Lord Luo Di, charge with me!" Xiao En roared as he rushed up.

"Kill!"

The crew members began their charge. Once inside the city, they slashed at any guard they saw. The two forces intertwined. The guards had already set up their formation, waiting for the King's orders, but facing such a massive pirate crew, they also felt terrified in their hearts. Now that the enemy had already attacked, it caught them off guard.

A pirate stabbed his blade into a guard's heart and roared as he pinned him to the ground, but immediately after, a long spear pierced his back and through his heart.

"Stupid pirate, trying to fight us without wearing any armor; you're just asking for death." As the guard spoke, he twisted the spear and pulled it out, preparing to find his next target.

But the next second, he felt a wave of dizziness; his vision spun in the air, and he saw his own body kneeling and stumbling.

A Nuo held a dripping axe, kicked the head away, and charged toward a guard nearby.

The sky was gloomy, black clouds blocking the sun and cutting across the blue, with muffled thunder rumbling within the clouds.

Luo Di stood at the city gate, the strong wind blowing his hair and the hem of his clothes. He looked toward the direction of the royal palace, where the terrain was higher. The palace nobles were all gathered together, watching the battlefield below. Some were terrified, some were resentful, and there was one idiot with snot running down his nose, cheering and jumping for joy, as if he were watching an exciting comedy movie.

Lu Xi Ya had already stood up from the ground. Her high heels were off, and her silk-stockinged feet stepped on the ground regardless of the dirt, quietly watching the situation inside the city.

Suddenly, she felt a warm and soft touch.

Ka Li Na wrapped her arm around hers and winked playfully: "Don't worry, Luo Di will solve everything."

Lu Xi Ya smiled gently: "What kind of person is your captain?"

"What kind of person?" Ka Li Na thought for a moment: "He's a guy with great strength, and he's also quite lecherous. Big sister, you're so pretty; you'll have to be careful once you come aboard our ship later."

"Hehehe..." Lu Xi Ya laughed for the first time in a long while.

"Hahahaha, this is just too interesting! Father, you really are the greatest King!" Carter walked to the top of the wall, looking at the scene below the palace, his eyes flashing with excitement.

Crack!

The next moment, his whole body suddenly lifted off the ground, hoisted into mid-air by an invisible force.

"Carter!" Owen shouted in astonishment: "What's wrong with you?!"

"Fa, Father, what's happening to me? Why am I flying?" Carter in the air looked completely bewildered.

"Guards, quick, save Carter!" Owen shouted at the guards.

Luo Di flashed, appearing on the wall at the Wang Cheng entrance. Carter in the air was quickly carried and flown in front of him, then slammed fiercely into the ground.

Luo Di stepped on Carter's head and looked toward Owen's position in the distance.

"Damn pirate, let Carter go!" Owen shouted viciously.

"Okay." Luo Di nodded and kicked Carter down, slamming him heavily onto the ground.

"Cough, cough, it hurts so much, my bones are all broken. Damn pirate, I'm going to cut your heads off just like those commoners, cough, cough..." Carter, who had fallen to the ground, wailed incessantly.

The next second, Luo Di teleported in front of him and raised his foot; a Scarlet Ripple flowed over his foot, and heat surged.

Boom!

Without any hesitation, Luo Di stomped Carter's head into the ground. Carter's body twitched twice, and soon there was no movement.

"Carter!" Owen on the palace was furious to the point of his eyes splitting: "Guards, kill him for me! Including those commoners outside, leave no one alive!"

Blood splattered everywhere inside the Wang Cheng, and the sounds of killing pierced the sky.

It's time to end this.

Luo Di walked slowly toward the palace. The soldiers around him who raised their weapons to kill him all had their necks twisted by an invisible force. He entered as if there were no one there, arriving at the base of the palace, where the nobles above were all filled with inexplicable terror.

"Pirate, you need to understand, the Lv Yin Wang Guo is a member of the World Government! Doing this is equivalent to declaring war on the World Government. The navy will arrive soon; it's not too late for you to run now!" Owen shouted in fear from the palace.

"Sorry, I don't really like looking up." As soon as Luo Di finished speaking, Star Platinum leaped fiercely in front of Owen, grabbed his neck, and pulled him downward.
