Chapter 987: An Unsolved Mechanism

The battle continued.

70% Health Axis!

A group of guard knights closed in again, the missing one having been replaced.

Although they knew they'd likely be instantly killed if they rushed in, as elite guild members this was their combat duty, so they had to step up!

Anyway, if they die, the guild will give corresponding point compensation, so they won't lose out.

Of course, you can't just suicide, because deaths from battle orders and various irresistible causes are compensated, but if you suicide yourself, there's none.

Sure enough, this time the Shadow Leopard broke invisibility with a strike, instantly killing a guard knight, but this time it was a Yan Huang member.

The damage was really high, but now that everyone had surrounded it in a circle, it couldn't escape, and with hatred cleared and retargeting, it could only choose someone inside the circle—Su Sheng or the surrounding guard knights.

However, losing one person for a Health Axis loss was still an affordable cost.

After all, it's still a boss of a Demon Race unit.

Although it's only elite-level, its level reaches 75, higher than anyone on the field.

Using one person's life to offset a Health Axis skill is already quite considerable, especially since this boss's Health Axis skill deals single-target damage.

If it were area damage, with no one able to dodge, probably only Su Sheng could withstand it; everyone else would have to use survival skills.

Immediately after, it smoothly dropped to 60% Health Axis!

The guard knights consciously raised their shields, adopted Defensive Stance, and pressed forward again, the heavy Tower Shields forming a wall.

However…

This time, as the boss entered the Health Axis, the Shadow Leopard simply vanished.

Su Sheng hadn't even relaxed when his expression suddenly tightened!

Shield Raise!

Shield Strike!

Su Sheng hardly hesitated, his motion extremely swift, directly delivering a Shield Strike to the side.

Crack—

A grating, teeth‑grating friction sound came.

That huge Shadow Leopard didn't flee; it reappeared beside Su Sheng.

That piercing friction sound was none other than the collision of Su Sheng's shield and the Shadow Leopard's claws.

For this fourth Health Axis, the boss actually didn't pick another target but directly chose Su Sheng right in front of it.

However…

Su Sheng's reaction left everyone stunned, but an even more astonishing thing followed.

Block Exemption!

Four large characters appeared above Su Sheng's head.

?!!

Funny!

The boss's damage was obvious to all, yet at this moment its Health Axis Piercing Strike was actually blocked without injury by Su Sheng.

Those surrounding guard knights were all dumbfounded.

Same Shield Block, yet it felt like my shield was just a rotten plank.

"Keep the rhythm and continue outputting!"

Su Sheng directly started taking damage.

After the four Health Axes passed, the next stage was Little Frenzy, unknown what skill.

After the four Health Axes passed, the next stage was Little Frenzy, unknown what skill.

Thanks to everyone's cooperation, the boss's HP dropped quickly. In under about thirty minutes, the Shadow Leopard boss fell to fifty percent.

This time, since we didn't know what skill it was, besides Su Sheng no one stayed in place, even the guard knights who had prepared to surround were withdrawn.

After all, this is the Little Frenzy phase; if the skill were a large‑range AOE, given the boss's attack power, we'd likely suffer heavy casualties, so we should avoid it as much as possible.

Health at fifty percent!

Little Frenzy phase! Triggered!

Whoosh!

This time, the Shadow Leopard did not go invisible!

But the Shadow Leopard's entire body suddenly exploded…

Don't misunderstand, it didn't explode.

Instead, it turned into countless shadows that ran in all directions.

Su Sheng's expression froze, and he thrust his spear.

But it missed, the spear passing straight through the Shadow Leopard, feeling like it went through a shadow.

However, that shadow before him, as Su Sheng attacked, it backhanded him, dealing over 20,000 damage.

Afterward, the Shadow Leopard split again into two, running to either side.

Su Sheng frowned, wondering what mechanism this was.

At this moment, the Shadow Leopards ran off in all directions, none attending to them, leaving Su Sheng alone in place.

Seeing this, the guard knights who had retreated to the rear instinctively raised their shields and closed in.

"Try attacking these Shadow Leopards!"

Su Sheng spoke up.

Immediately, the rear ranged players launched their attacks.

shushushu~

But all attacks passed straight through the bodies of these shadow leopards and then landed on the ground.

No effect!

Su Sheng frowned. Shadow leopard… Are these shadows?

puff~

By this time, the fastest charging shadow leopard had already clashed with a defensive knight.

shush

One claw— the defensive knight used Shield Raise to Block.

The damage isn't high, just over twenty thousand… you can't really say it's not high, this damage.

But compared to the damage that instantly killed the shadow leopard's Health Axis earlier, this damage really isn't high.

But after that shadow leopard in front attacked, it instantly split into two and ran to both sides. Then, right after that, more shadow leopards charged at the Defensive Knight.

puff puff puff~

Each attack dealt just over twenty thousand damage, and after attacking they split into two and spread to both sides. Thus, as this group of defensive knights came forward, the shadow leopards, which originally numbered just over a hundred, instantly became over two hundred—and they kept increasing.

This mechanic is really disgusting…

Although this attack isn't enough to instantly kill someone, the numbers are snowballing—if they keep rolling like this.

"Everyone spread out, don't get hit." Zhang Zhi spoke over the Command Channel.

Everyone was retreating, but the Defensive Knight itself just has short legs.

Even if they retreat now, they can't completely dodge the shadow leopards' pursuit…

Leading to ever-increasing numbers of shadow leopards.

In just about ten seconds, the number of shadow leopards reached over three hundred.

What should we do? This mechanism really has no obvious breaking point.

Attacks can't hit it, but if it hits a person, it clones.

shush~

At that moment, another white light arrow flew in from somewhere.

smack~

The white light arrow exploded, bathing the battlefield in bright white light.

Su Sheng raised his head, roughly figuring it out—this arrow must be the work of Dalian, who hasn't shown himself.

But right now the shadow leopards aren't stealthed—what use is this skill?

huh?

Just as that thought crossed his mind, Su Sheng frowned, staring at the shadow leopards ahead shrouded in light.
