Chapter 1967: Closing Remarks

Closing Remarks

Thanks to anyone who can see this, thank you for being interested in this book, and thank you for making it this far.

Logically, this volume should have a closing remark, just as there should be a Yama Memorial before the Dream Cup, but since the Yama Memorial was skipped, the closing remark was also skipped.

But I still can't help feeling sentimental.

Wow, what a long loop. jpg

This volume is 148w characters, 585 chapters, surpassing the length of the final volume of my previous book, setting a record that is truly nothing to be proud of. After all, if the final volume can be this long, it just shows you've dug too many pits, and collecting them makes it so bloated.

That is indeed the case.

This is also why I am deeply grateful to everyone who has made it this far.

After all, this is indeed a not-so-smooth rocky road, but it's precisely because of everyone's companionship that I am willing to persevere on this untrodden path.

Persistence is important, after all, anyone can see this book's performance isn't great, and because it's a slice-of-life track, put nicely it's a slow burn, put bluntly it lacks a clear main plot. This lowers the barrier for the 'fattening-up' crowd to very low, so low that I'm not even sure how many of them are only now starting to move.

Before they start, I try not to look at the stats and just focus on writing my own.

After all, as I said at the beginning, this book is both about familiarizing myself with the environment and trial and error.

However, this decision itself still has some loopholes, because I only realized after writing more than half of it: a true experimental book shouldn't be turned into a long series.

While a long series yields many and varied results, the most important thing is that it may not be able to adapt to the web novel market that changes every few months, causing most of the gains to become outdated notions.

But what can be done now that it's come to this? You've persisted at this speed through the opening and middle phases, and even if the method is wrong, you should still finish the rest that way. Seeing things through to the end is the principle I've always upheld; any hesitation midway is irresponsible toward myself and the readers.

But even if I persevered, readers who finish this book will surely feel somewhat at a loss.

Is it just going to end like this?

I understand, after all, this is also one of the reasons I've persisted, and at the same time it's a misunderstanding I've fallen into.

In fact, the reason this book could be written so long is also because I always felt there was something to write, pits to fill, and so I just never finished.

This issue didn't dawn on me until I reached the opening of the chapter 'Racing Together'—although I had stuffed in some battles, what I was actually writing was slice-of-life.

This is a slice-of-life novel, and the biggest difference between slice-of-life and monster-slaying level-up adventure is that slice-of-life actually has no ending.

All endings in slice-of-life are merely temporary conclusions.

Only when a period needs to be put down will we tentatively pick a stage to cut off.

Or one could abruptly switch to a hot-blooded combat track, cultivating in a series of bizarre adventures an atmosphere of 'not having an ending would be letting oneself down,' and then conclude.

Although the latter seems a bit unlike slice-of-life, I have no objection to it, but there's a problem in that—I've already missed it.

If we were to conclude in this way, then based solely on the book's title and theme, it should have ended in the Gulite Universe.

At that stage, the results of monster collection could be said to have entered a temporary conclusion, and the cover heroine's storyline had been fully recovered—this could be said to be the main quest completed, and for players not aiming for full completion, it was already enough to call it quits.

But obviously, the author at that time wasn't aware of it, and even concluding like that still leaves a very obvious problem: haven't you forgotten there's still a main plot?

That Uma Musume element that derailed your outline—you've already started it, so are you just going to end it without writing any races?

And so the long run began.

The Uma Musume element became another stage, and even now, calling it a conclusion is not perfect.

After all, Uma Musume players know that the Triple Crown is far from the end, and there are also many interesting holiday stories worth watching.

But in the world constructed in this book, there is indeed no longer a powerful stage event like the Dream Cup after the Kikuka Sho.

There couldn't be a better time for this, just as the endings of slice-of-life works always talk about how the present is far from an end.

So I think this is sufficient.

The 532w-character story merely recounts a one-year-and-seven-month tale, witnessing Aomo Lindun's journey from a high school senior to his current B-rank Mercenary Agency Director, a Central First-class Trainer awaiting honorary appointment, and from a lone individual to a top-tier real-life fulfiller in every sense—already enough to make ordinary people feel suffocated, yet he is still adapting.

Many stagnant times flowed thanks to his efforts, and many B-rank stories that were about to open exciting new chapters were shattered by him—all efforts came to naught, which is also the harsh reality of the actual federation. jpg

However, even with this realization, the fact that 'there are still many plots worth writing' remains unchanged.

So the author had already mentioned at the end of previous chapters—irregular bonus updates.

Because they're insubstantial for the main text, basically like little four-panel comics, so they're defined as irregular random reward emails, which should also be free.

Of course, don't even think about lewd bonus chapters—first, the review won't pass; second, group files carry risks; and finally… finally, the author has zero experience with Huang Wen, so you'd be better off hoping for an AI tavern, Chatbox, or something like that.

The author can't go down that route—it's a gray area where if you don't mention it, it's fine, but reporting it is a surefire violation, and it could easily become a boomerang-style stain later on.

But readers can do whatever they want, so there are also cases of certain authors posing as readers to post their own fanfiction… cough, that's getting off track, we shouldn't give people unnecessary hope.

In short, Only Monsters Can? concludes here; next up are irregular bonus resurrections, of course not just a few days after the conclusion—I'll first adjust my schedule to improve this deteriorating state.

As for the new book topic that everyone will be paying attention to,

All I can say is, not urgent for now.

It's still at the stage of creating a new folder; I merely have an idea, but the outline and worldbuilding aren't complete yet—preparation will take at least half a month, and then the manuscript reserve before opening the book will need another month at least.

One and a half months will just pass like that, and this is still the ideal scenario.

In short, when there's news about the new book, I'll also notify you here.

The track is original, the platform is Qidian, the account won't be changed, and since I've prepared from the start to proceed step by step, there's no reason to use an alternate account!

Finally, finally, still giving thanks!

Thanks for the companionship and witness all along, and thanks to your support that allows me to add another brand-new 532w-character record to my life's achievements.

Sincere thanks!

By the way, thanks to a reminder from a certain reader in the comments section.

The data cards for these three are still being filled out on the way, which has caused them to undergo review.

. Also, I should mention that the next book is preparing to learn lessons and make major cuts, so this kind of record won't be considered for breaking in the past few years; medium-to-long works should wait until we've truly accumulated enough before talking about them.

This is also one of the insights gained after experimental trial and error.

That's all I have to say!

The train will head to the next stop; let's await the next stage!
