Chapter 2: Source Energy

Source Energy

What is the essence of power?

To explain the source energy awakened among the peoples of cosmic planets, and also to clarify the various extraordinary abilities mastered by extraterrestrial visitors, the research departments of many major civilizations within the Star Alliance have developed numerous divergent theories.

Styles vary widely; some even directly serve as conclusions. These theories number in the tens of thousands, and counting the ancient methods of certain extinct civilizations, they keep growing yearly, but when broken down in detail, they are essentially only two types.

One type emphasizes idealism—that is, mental state. Its practitioners firmly believe that belief and will affect those extraordinary abilities, and for this they have developed several sets of theories for training and strengthening the spirit.

The other type emphasizes materialism—they continually develop instruments capable of finer analysis of energy, compare and ponder the structural differences and special functions of organs of extraterrestrial residents and otherworldly visitors, and engage in biomimicry, cloning, and even direct transplantation.

Regardless of which, it is all to grasp greater power.

Nor does it matter which; their theories share a similar, even identical essence.

Spirit and matter are inseparable.

From this perspective, all those differing theories are merely packaging to convince their own 'followers'—no matter how different the terms they use, or how they emphasize reality versus mind, their foundation remains spirit and matter, inseparable.

Relying on consciousness to directly influence matter.

Relying on consciousness to influence matter through a certain medium.

The difference between the former and the latter is merely the focus and intensity of consciousness; the medium mentioned in the latter can be a complex device, or a wand or blade crafted from special minerals, or even a special extraordinary organ of the user themselves, or anything that can amplify the user's 'spirit'.

Times have changed; many traditional spellcasters' wands have become complex-mechanical armaments. Those armaments are the dual result of extraordinary abilities and industrial development, their medium shifting from natural high-energy minerals and strange active biological tissues to complex energy conversion circuits. They have become representatives of new spellcasters, and at the same time they have proven that, over the past centuries, the conflict between technology and magic has no fundamental meaning,

Even those so-called immortal arts, witchcraft, and even those bizarre extraordinary abilities can likewise be explained by the same principle.

They all shake matter through spirit.

However, the strength of spirit requires tempering by matter and struggle against fate.

It is not that possessing power leads to struggle, but rather that struggle yields power.

Struggle against natural disasters, struggle against human calamities, struggle against fate; only by yearning for power will power respond.

After the Seventh Nebula War, the universe welcomed only superficial peace, but behind the scenes, surging dark currents continue to 'create' countless power-wielding ascenders (cultivators); the struggle in this world has never ended, every moment is a new beginning.

Source Energy—this, whether belonging to this side or that world, ultimately arises from the same origin, as if proving that all explored worlds share a common source of power, becoming the most plain foundation and essence for countless schools.

It flows from life, originates in life, and can transform into the expectations of all schools.
