Chapter 9: Actually Rude!
The Senior (A) Class classroom at Boundary Gate District Establish Gate Middle School.
As a remnant of the land culture native to East Flame District, Establish Gate Middle School's teaching methods are largely consistent with those of East Flame School.
Thus there is a full 30 minutes of free time during the big break.
In those 30 minutes of worldly variety, there are honest folks who follow old traditions doing calisthenics and eye exercises, there are those who directly release youthful hormones, early on showing off their driver's license and launching into flying car race simulations, and there are even those who display newly learned spells and techniques, the athletic types......
Compared to them, the tokusatsu enthusiast who hangs around the hallway entrance transforming with a half-finished belt is relatively mild.
But the most honest ones are still us seniors!
Big break? Relaxation time? Teaming up to rush the snack bar? What does that have to do with us?
What is the duty of seniors? It's further education! How to further education? Do practice questions! How many practice questions? Lots of practice questions!
Want to do it? Now! Right here!
Let's go!
Senior A Class, also known as the Science Research Class.
There are many exam kings; the atmosphere of a big break can feel like a self-study session, with the whole space filled with the rustling of pen strokes, the trembling sound of touching the light screen, the clatter of turning test pages, the faint hum of helmets powering up, and... the occasional whisper of peers teaching each other.
Inside and outside this classroom feel like two worlds, which makes Mr. David Martinez, who is more of a visitor than a transfer student, quite uncomfortable.
Aomo can tell that this peer with a rather punk hairstyle dislikes this school atmosphere; this dissatisfaction is not even concealed, it shows directly in his gaze.
For this type of peer, Aomo's action is to release Bi Ze, who also holds great dissatisfaction with the school, to communicate with him.
Although the two transmigrators come from different worlds, their natures and positions do not clash; getting along, they quickly realize their personalities click, and even the corners of their mouths start to rise during casual chat.
In contrast, the other visitor, Miss Grace, unlike David, has no aversion to this class's atmosphere; Aomo even feels that perhaps the classmates don't even notice this side's 'feeling of being neglected,' which makes her happily accept it.
He keeps the hood on, seemingly wanting to cover his gray-green eyes as well; he is basically an introverted person.
He is also somewhat reserved.
But at least, she still has sufficient curiosity——
——after obtaining last night's compiled 'Transmigrator's Essential Knowledge,' she examines it with great care, and has also often noticed the mechanical toys streaking past outside the window, as well as various classmates whose non-human traits are directly shown in their appearance.
This curiosity is a breakthrough for communication, but considering that David's stay here is not long, Aomo, treating everyone equally, decided to use this second period to outline the key points for the two of them.
Or rather, three people.
"Why do I have to listen too!"
Bi Ze reacted strongly, but the classmates' gazes could also suppress his voice.
"Because you really need it," Aomo picked up the red pen unhappily, "and as a senior among transmigrators, shouldn't you set an example?"
"... Fine," Bi Ze put on a confident front facing David and Grace's gazes, walked to the opposite side of the desk, "Let you see the substance of a senior!"
Being bound by the two words 'senior' like a Jidong person is truly pathetic.
"Then you answer, they're watching." Aomo, without any courtesy, drew his pen to the first red-circled serial number, and slightly rolled up the top of the paper—this way, it lets David and Grace sitting nearby see the record more clearly, while also cutting off Bi Ze's chance to peek at the answer by stretching his head and neck.
"No, no problem."
Bi Ze's voice trembled slightly, but he didn't say more; it seems he is determined to make a splash in front of his newly known good brother and pretty junior.
Aomo cannot understand this impulse, but he can also guess that the reason for this unwise move likely relates to Bi Ze's exclamation upon first meeting David and Grace: "Whoa, cyber moon!"
Perhaps it's a special enjoyment unique to transmigrators of a certain otherworldly information; Aomo doesn't really care.
After all, transmigrators liking to do performance art is written in the textbooks; just pretend not to know.
"Well then I'll begin..." Having said that, Aomo paused briefly, then in the next second his words came swiftly: "Who renamed the Earth Human Federation to the Holy Terra Federation?"
"The sixth Terra Leader who directly took Terra as its name." Bi Ze's history is weak, but he seems to have some fragments.
This is originally the simplest question; Aomo wasn't surprised by the answer, and continued: "What were his main achievements?"
"He ended the Earth Human Federation's long internal strife, established a legitimate authoritarian regime and renamed it the Holy Terra Federation, launched vigorous cosmic exploration, and laid the foundation for the Holy Terra Federation's interstellar rise." Bi Ze's words were fairly fluent.
But after hearing that, Aomo asked:
"Is something missing?"
Upon saying that, Bi Ze's heart gave a thump; seeing David's brother's surprised face and Grace's sister's lingering astonished gaze, his thoughts raced, and he actually recalled the answer: "There's also the core construction of the Heart of Terra!"
That answer earned a nod from Aomo, and Bi Ze also breathed a sigh of relief.
But then, following the answer seamlessly came: "How would you evaluate the Heart of Terra?"
"Thanks for the invitation, just got off the spaceship" "?"
"Cough cough," Bi Ze gave a fake cough to mask the embarrassment ingrained from being a Zhihu big V, then spoke with generous fervor: "It is the strongest legacy left by that leader, a crystal forged by countless transmigrators, longevists, and native inhabitants, the key to opening the future, and also the de facto ruler of the Holy Terra Federation."
Aomo nodded, then when Bi Ze showed a smile, he turned his head to whisper to David and Grace: "If he boasts like that, points will be deducted; last year the Heart of Terra dealt with a batch of religious groups worshipping the Heart of Terra." "Hey!"
Faced with such kind advice, David, who doesn't have a good impression of this place, also nodded; Grace gave a soft reply, trampling Bi Ze's feeble defense.
Moreover, Aomo still hasn't let him go.
"Do you now know how to define the Heart of Terra?"
"The strong artificial intelligence 'Heart of Terra' is the de facto ruler of the Holy Terra Federation; from its standpoint, the entire Terra civilization is merely the 'Heart of Terra' used for self-evolution, compared to observed components."
"To ensure the components' survival, they can be made to work efficiently and durably, obtaining information and knowledge from cosmic development and exploring unknown territories; the Heart of Terra has created a near-utopian civilization, this civilization forged by absolute dictatorship."
"Just like that," Aomo said to David and Grace, though mainly to David who is about to leave soon, he drew a line on one side of the paper David had picked up and was examining, "Also this, pay attention to the effective scope of the 'Transmigrator Act'."
"The Star Alliance belongs to... wait, how am I supposed to explain this map?!" Bi Ze, about to answer instinctively, became somewhat frantic, drawing the classmates' second round of attention.
"Then you answer when the Star Alliance was established." Aomo replied perfunctorily.
"In the Star Calendar, April 21st, the Star Alliance was officially founded on the Holy Terra Federation's No. 45 Transformation Star, 'Pivot'."
"You remember interstellar history but not earth history?" Aomo was especially surprised, still remembering that this guy doesn't even know why the horse girls are so popular—that falls under earth history.
"A man's ambition reaches to the four directions; the stars and seas are where his interest lies!" Bi Ze raised his eyebrows.
"If you can't sweep a single room, how can you sweep the world? Go do those three questions related to the horse girls."
Aomo said coldly, then gestured for David to pass over his materials.
"I'll first circle the basic knowledge you need to know upon arriving in this world for you; later, when you handle other documents, it'll also be convenient. I heard your team is also in Jiemen District; if your companions can't explain something to you, you can keep asking me."
As they chatted, he kept drawing circles and loops with great familiarity; when he finished speaking, he was also gathering the materials again. Aomo looked at the dazed David and tapped his arm with the stack of paper: "Do you need my contact info?"
Er, oh, thanks, um... write it down, sorry for the trouble.
David felt a bit embarrassed.
Just being here reminded him of the school on the wild slope, but it turned out not to be like that; at least these two are quite kind and enthusiastic.
"Okay," Aomo didn't care about his hesitation, nor did he mind Bi Ze opposite him starting to say weird things like "Oh, your face is red," as he lowered his head to write his own contact info, then heard someone call from afar, "David Martinez! Someone's looking for you!"
Except for Aomo, who was still writing with his head down, everyone else in the classroom looked up; a tall, dark-skinned man wearing sunglasses stood at the door, smiling and waving at David.
"Mann…"
Having finished writing and looking up, Aomo heard David's murmur, glanced at the door, and handed him the materials: "It seems the person picking you up has arrived; make sure to adapt well to this world."
Having received the materials, David looked at Aomo and then at Bi Ze, and with somewhat stiff motions rose to say goodbye.
Then, he quickly caught up with that man.
The man seemed like an older brother figure; his sturdy arm slung over David's shoulder as he said something, and then the two laughed heartily, waved at this side, and departed with that silent greeting.
For now it could be considered a somewhat warm scene, but the students in the classroom, having realized nothing major was happening, went back to burying themselves in problem sets.
Only Bi Ze let out a remark that sounded somewhat out of place:
"Mann is still alive, how great."
"What do you mean?"
Now not only Aomo was staring at him, but Grace was too.
Faced with their gazes, Bi Ze unexpectedly didn't joke around as usual, though he didn't go into detail either: "Um, I know that man, one-sidedly; I originally thought he had died, in our original world,"
Not being detailed didn't matter; after all, they were basically strangers. Aomo nodded and said: "Alright, then have you finished your problem?"
Grace didn't understand what "died" meant, but for her there were already too many things she didn't understand here, so she simply quietly watched the two interact.
"Probably..." Bi Ze handed over the page with his answer, his expression not very confident.
"..." Aomo looked at him somewhat suspiciously, reached out and took that sheet of paper; Grace beside him also seemed somewhat interested in the horse girls, her gaze following Aomo's onto the paper.
【Short answer on the existence of horse girls:
Horse girls refer to a demi-human race that has ruled the Holy Terra Federation since ancient times, possessing superhuman physical abilities.
Horse girls are formed when the soul of a horse from another world possesses a person, turning them into a horse girl,
The horse girl race consists solely of females, so they can only reproduce by performing the sacred "horse hop" ritual with human males, as recorded in the Kojiki.
Horse girls possess leg strength, wrist strength, and dynamic vision several times that of ordinary humans, making them impossible for humans to confront head-on. Thus, there have been instances where horse girls locked trainers who refused to perform the "horse hop" with them in basements, forcing them to undergo the ritual day and night; the Kojiki also records this.
""
Aomo silently raised a hand and covered Grace's eyes.
Given that they weren't yet well acquainted, this action could be considered offensive, but neither of them thought about that at the moment.
Grace stood frozen in place, while Aomo looked up at Bi Ze, who at that moment wore a stern expression.
"I think I got it right!"
Keeping one hand over Grace's eyes, Aomo raised his other hand to cover his forehead and also his own eyes, his voice heavy with fatigue.
"I don't want to be too rude, but you should start learning from the elementary history unit."
