Chapter 128: 217 chapters, the one seeking flower fragrance

——Liu Guozong's Spring Diary, entry 49
a I recall the poet Li Ying wrote such a verse:
The most brilliant flowers
Are the blood of history
The most true history
Are the old person's scars
What history leaves us is nothing but faint memories; while what scars leave us is, in memory, the truest pain.
History can stand there silently, while scars often, on windy and rainy nights, make us uneasy about past events like smoke.
So, we cannot heal the scars and forget the pain.
B The waves on the sea say: "Look how beautiful and free I am, my voice is so melodious."
The sun says to the wave: "Your beauty is due to my illumination; you cannot be arrogant."
The sea also reminds the wave: "Your freedom has limits; exceed them, and I will no longer protect you."
Wind also advises the wave: "Your voice is the result of my accompaniment."
The wave never heeds others' advice; thus, each of his fantasies turns into a bubble.
c Human life is like the waves in rivers, lakes, and seas. You lean against me, I embrace you. Some cheer, some weep; some praise, some complain. Whether praise or complaint, the life of a wave lasts only that brief second.
The Creator says, human life is a cloud that appears briefly then vanishes. This cloud in the sky may be a splendid rosy cloud, or a gloomy dark cloud that makes one weary. But no matter what cloud, no one can make oneself an eternal cloud.
d If I were a flower fragrance, I would bring you anticipation and hope; if I were a ray of sunshine, I would shine on those needing warmth.
However, I am not yet a flower fragrance nor sunshine. I am also a person seeking flower fragrance, seeking sunshine.
F I recall that US President Roosevelt said: "For others, please light the candle in your hand; while illuminating others, you yourself are illuminated first."
