—— Autumn Reverie No. 39

A dilapidated riverbed

The river water has long since stopped flowing

The riverbank is covered with

thorns and thistles

I see see a bird

Among the thorns and thistles

Singing heedlessly

Sung as if drunk and infatuated

Seeming illusory yet real

A lonely and beautiful bird

Are you praising the sunshine?

Or are you praising life?

When I left that place

That bird was still singing

The song was persistent and beautiful

Gentle, sorrowful......
