Chapter 78: Liu Guozong reveals the secrets of <Dream of the Red Chamber>......fourteen

Liu Guozong reveals the secrets of ...... fourteen......

Liu Guozong reveals the scandalous history of 《Dream of the Red Chamber》 fourteen.

This woman is not simple; she is resourceful, steady, and courageous, and does not panic when facing major events...

(Seventeen), this flirtatious beauty remains composed at critical moments--

"Hey, husband, why are you so heartless? You didn't say we would 'be paired birds in heaven, intertwined branches on earth'? Look how beautiful I am, beautiful like heavenly 'clouds and rosy hues', earthly 'petals'. Li Bai is praising my beauty, not seducing me."

People say women are petty, but some men are no better.

"If you execute Li Bai because of a woman, the world will ridicule you forever. Moreover, I and Li Bai have nothing going on. Please, Your Majesty, reconsider."

"That Emperor Xuanzong thought about what his concubine said and found it reasonable: 'If I, Xuanzong, were to dispose of this supremely talented, globally renowned superstar over a woman's matter, once the media exposes it, wouldn't everyone under heaven say I'm wrong?'"

"Alright! Approved! Li Bai's death penalty is waived, but his living punishment is unavoidable. Give him forty heavy blows, spare his life, and let him leave wherever he came from!" Emperor Xuanzong said without pleasantry.

Gao Lishi said proudly: "Retiring from court..."

(Eighteen), when the beautiful Li Bai left Everlasting Peace, that shameless petty person was in the music and dance hall--

Upon hearing that Emperor Xuanzong would not kill him, Li Bai let out a long sigh of relief.

It is said that on the day Li Bai left the capital Chang'an, many literary and poetry friends came to see him off. Delighted, Li Bai composed a few short poems:

Seeing you off at Ba Mausoleum Pavilion, the Ba River flows vast and mighty.

Above stands an ancient flowerless tree; below grows sorrowful spring grass.

I asked the Qin people about the fork in the road, and they said it was the ancient path Wang Can took southward.

The ancient road stretches continuously to the Western Capital; the Purple Gate sees the setting sun and drifting clouds pass by.

At this very spot of heartbreak, the mournful songs are so sorrowful one cannot bear to listen.

Among those who came to see Li Bai off, Yang Guifei was absent. In fact, Li Bai did not know that at this moment Yang Guifei was dancing with Emperor Xuanzong.

This woman is fickle; she would never keep a wandering poor poet in her heart. That poetry is also tasteless to drink, only enjoyable to recite. Only that clueless little Li Bai would sing it as a joke. When parting from Everlasting Peace, he even wept with tears and snot.

What "heartbreak grass", what "heartbreak spot"? Just go, leave, and whether big or small matters, one departure settles it all……

"Hey, Liu kid, aren't you done yet? Your talk is like the Yellow River—muddy and endless—why won't you tell me the scandalous history of 《Dream of the Red Chamber》?" Old Can was displeased and scolded me.

"Can Elder Brother, speak, speak. Am I just babbling, or are you speaking seriously, or are you speaking wonderfully?" I repeatedly apologized and made obeisance.

To know how Old Can wonderfully spoke of the exciting parts of 《Dream of the Red Chamber》 for me, please see the following--

That Old Can also strayed off topic, but his topic was quite fresh--

Old Can said, I've been wandering outside these past years, working odd jobs. I've passed through many places, met many people, experienced many things, and gained much insight.

Do you still want to hear first about Jia Baoyu's tryst with Qin Keqing in 《Dream of the Red Chamber》, or about my strange and bizarre experiences while wandering?

"I want to hear both, but your wandering experiences have already been written in your 《Old Can's Travels》, which I have long read."

Frankly, although the stories in your 《Old Can's Travels》 are nonsense, they are still somewhat amusing; this probably has to do with your old family's tendency to meddle.

Frankly, although the stories in your 《Old Can's Travels》 are nonsense, they are still somewhat amusing; this probably has to do with your old family's tendency to meddle.

I heard you met an absolutely beautiful woman called something black girl by the Minghu Lake in Jinan Prefecture? Just like Bai Juyi once met a pipa-playing girl by the Xunyang River. Could we first talk about your black girl affair to lighten the mood, then discuss Jia Baoyu and Qin Keqing in 《Dream of the Red Chamber》? I said.

"If I speak of the black girl I met by the Minghu Lake in Jinan, she is far more beautiful than the pipa-playing girl Bai Juyi encountered by the Xunyang River. The black girl I met is not only beautiful and lovely, but also affectionate and righteous……"
