Chapter 86: Forget the Past, Press Forward
168 Chapter Liu Guozong's Spring Diary, Part 5
Forget the past, press forward.
Time was near noon; although I felt a little tired, I still had to persist. Noise is infinite, life is limited. The distant world, because there is fog, there are high-rises, separated by mountains, also separated by water, and most importantly because I have no money.
So, I cannot see it in Wei Cheng. The nearby world is great and sublime; I am adding bricks and tiles to it.
"Why aren't you resting yet? Spring has just begun, why are you lingering like this!" I said, exhausted.
But, my spirit admonishes me:
The time to rest is not within my control.
Just like fate, it is not something I can control.
The fog gradually receded, and I saw many previously obscured landscapes: form, color, and of course that—
the beauty of the bustling city.
Why should I measure with my own language—
"Here," "there," or even farther away? To delimit the space of existence?
Am I not now seeing something very beautiful?
Of course, I also should not use my own thoughts to measure time: yesterday, today, or tomorrow. Because—
"Those who abandon me cannot keep yesterday's day." Yesterday is a time that has gone and never returned, long since "reduced to dust."
And tomorrow is a height I cannot presently reach.
God whispered in my ear, saying: "Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have its own worries; each day's troubles are enough for that day." I understood God's meaning: forget the past, strive forward.
At the same time I also understood: "Every place I set foot includes all places; each leg of my journey is my entire route…"
But does this present moment contain "all of time, including everything anticipated, achieved, and proven within time"?
