Chapter 908: 715 chapters, this is the wise Sun Wukong
715 chapters, this is the wise Sun Wukong.
715 chapters, this is the wise Sun Wukong.
Reader, you say, time flies like an arrow, days and months like a shuttle. "The autumn wind is bleak, the weather cold, grasses and trees sway, dew becomes frost" — this is deep autumn.
By the riverside, trees sway and reed flowers scatter; looking ahead to the mountains, the wind sighs and red leaves fall. This is precisely ——
Lovely, the mountain bones fine, the stream cold, lotus leaves torn, flowing water and fallen flowers — spring has gone, people weary. Look, white? red smartweed frost‑leaf ground, the vast sky, setting sun, lone goose flying; faint, dark wild clouds pass, the hillside farmer returns with his hoe. The goose has gone, indeed heart‑broken, yet it's an old acquaintance — the ground piled with yellow flowers, wilted and worn; to this day, who can pluck them? A minor farewell writing, idle words cut off ——
Last time the Classic of Documents said: on Huaguo Shan, Sun Wukong and on Pingdingshan, the two demons. Sun Wukong wholeheartedly wants to save his master and fellow disciple, to protect his master on the journey to Xitian to obtain the scriptures. But the two demons on Pingdingshan are determined to harm Tang Seng and his disciples.
This, too, is a battle of good versus evil, life and death on Sun Wukong's journey to obtain the scriptures.
On the road to Xitian, everywhere are rugged thorns, and demons and monsters fill the land. It makes one's heart tremble, yet one proceeds.
Obtaining the scriptures — how could it be easy?
Listen, the demon on Pingdingshan, right in front of Sun Wukong, threatens him: as long as Sun Wukong promises him a single word, his life is forfeit.
Sun Wukong said: "Demon, if I, Sun Wukong, no longer have the courage to answer you, what right do I have to protect Tang Seng on the journey to Xitian to obtain the scriptures?"
The demon said: "Hou Tou, everyone says how mighty you are, why are you pretending to be a grandson before me today? I've shouted at you several times, yet you dare not answer a single word? Hou Tou? You're afraid, right? Hou Tou, you'd better hurry back to Huaguo Shan, go lead your monkey brothers in play. You just boasted about your abilities. I've called out loudly for half a day — why won't you answer? Are you scared? Isn't that so, Hou Tou?"
Wukong laughed and said: "Demon, what did you just say? I, Lao Sun, have lived many years, endured wind and rain by the sea, my eyes are a bit dim, my ears a bit dull. Your voice was too soft; I still haven't heard clearly what you called. How can I answer you? Please speak louder."
Previously it was explained, why doesn't Sun Wukong dare to answer that demon? Is Wukong really afraid of the dark demon? No! Since Sun Wukong was born on Huaguo Shan, who has he ever feared? You probably only know that Sun Wukong possesses what courage, what boldness; you still don't know how meticulous and wise that Hou Tou is.
It's not that Wukong doesn't dare to answer; it's that the words on the verge of his mouth are swallowed back by him.
Reader, you may ask, why does Wukong again swallow the words at the edge of his mouth? This is Wukong's wisdom.
How great is this wisdom?
Wukong thought: this demon has countless schemes, all sorts of bad ideas; he wants me to agree, there must be some trick here, hidden murderous intent. If I agree, being harmed by the demon is no big deal. But my master and fellow disciple have both been captured by this demon, and they are still hanging in the cave, anxiously awaiting my rescue. If I am captured again, he will lock me inside the Red Gourd. Then even the one who would report the incident would be gone. Besides, my death is a small matter. If I cannot save my master, delaying his journey to Xitian to obtain the scriptures, that would be a grave mistake! Moreover, my two sworn brothers, Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing, are still unmarried; they have followed my master to this point, constantly running east and west, they have gained no wealth, no status, still bachelors. Now, with no money and no status, which maiden would dare to take them? Especially Zhu Bajie; the maiden from Gao Lao Zhuang might still be waiting for him to earn money and return to marry. If this Zhu Bajie were harmed by the demon, the Gao Lao Zhuang maiden would have waited in vain….
Whether this Sun Wukong dares to answer that demon or not — let's wait for the subsequent text to explain.
