Chapter 914: Living Water Bay
Living Water Bay
Living Water Bay.....
______Nan Fang Journey Diary Seventeen
Living Water Bay's dog was barking "woof woof woof". Living Water Bay was covered with blue empty clouds; beneath those blue clouds, many birds were flying up and down. Those birds circling Living Water Bay, flying up and down, seemed to be searching for something, exploring something; or perhaps they were searching for nothing, exploring nothing—flying up and down was just their instinct.
Those birds flying up and down are just like people walking to and fro in the world—no one can know their purpose in walking to and fro: is it for fame and profit? Or for love and righteousness?
People die for wealth? Birds die for food?
Birds dying for food means they live merely for a bit of food—how pitiful those birds are.
But, while we lament that pitiful bird, perhaps the bird itself is saying: 'How pitiful humans are, the Creator gave you so much wisdom, treated you so kindly, yet you live in blessings unaware of your blessings. At the beginning, when the Creator first created heaven and earth, He once promised: "Behold, I will give you all the seed-bearing vegetables on the earth, and every fruit-bearing tree with seeds, wholly for your food. As for the beasts of the earth and the birds of the air, and all the creeping creatures that have life on the ground, I will give them grass for food." Look, this Creator, how partial He is toward humans. Though they are the same things He created, the treatment they receive is not the same. The birds in the sky, the great fish in the sea, the livestock on the earth, and all the creeping insects on the ground, must submit to human management. Yet humans are still not satisfied; they do not enjoy all that the Creator has given them. This person is indeed truly foolish.'
Is this human foolishness? Where are humans foolish? The water of Living Water Bay flows silently; gazing at the birds flying to and fro in the sky over Living Water Bay and the clouds drifting to and fro, I ponder. But in the blink of an eye, those birds and clouds are gone. No one knows where those birds and clouds went, nor need we know. They came traceless, left without trace. Are we on the ground like clouds—coming without trace, leaving without trace?
Where, then, is our final resting place?
Are we really like the common saying goes: "People die for wealth, birds die for food"?
The water of Living Water Bay flows silently.........
Sunlight shines on the flowers, grasses, and trees along the shore of Living Water Bay; from among them, threads of fragrance drift out. This setting gives people a truly good feeling.........
