Chapter 1660: 1603 Living Thing
A doctor was about to scold Zheng Ren, but he reined in at the brink, forcibly stopping himself.
The surroundings fell silent; Chu Nu Ang Sai removed his oxygen mask and said, "Zheng Lao Ban, how is it?"
"Are they your people?"
Chu Nu Ang Sai hesitated for a moment, then shook his head.
"Then find a convenient place; I just looked at the images and have some bad guesses," Zheng Ren said.
"Okay!" Chu Nu Ang Sai didn't ask Zheng Ren why, first agreed, then made a request to a doctor in his fifties standing beside him.
That doctor was a Westerner; after hearing Chu Nu Ang Sai out, he looked incredulous, shrugged and said a couple of things, but had to agree under his insistence.
After all, this was Chu Nu Ang Sai's opinion; whether the patient lives or dies, while he still has his faculties, it's up to him to decide.
Turning back, they pushed the gurney to a room outside the operating room; the doctors attached a simple ECG lead to Chu Nu Ang Sai to monitor his vital signs.
That doctor kept saying in English that they needed to act as quickly as possible.
Zheng Ren felt good about him; compared to someone like Chu Nu Ang Sai, the foreign doctor seemed more like a normal person, just like Zheng Ren himself.
After things quieted down, Zheng Ren said again, "Mr. Chu Nu Ang Sai, what I have to say is closely related to you; please confirm once more whether anyone present needs to avoid this."
This time, Chu Nu Ang Sai's expression became extremely solemn.
He had everyone leave the room, leaving only himself and Zheng Ren.
Looking from inside out, this room is just a wall; but looking from outside in, one can see everything clearly.
After all, everyone here is a patient, making observation easier.
Whether it's Mayo Clinic, Harmony Nurture, or this place, they all have basically the same structure.
Chu Nu Ang Sai's disciples and relatives were driven out; some had calm faces, others showed resentful expressions.
After everyone had left, Chu Nu Ang Sai signaled for Yi Ren to stand guard outside and closed the door.
"Mr. Chu Nu Ang Sai, I have found a foreign object in your right atrium," Zheng Ren said.
Chu Nu Ang Sai smiled and said, "Your medical skills are superb, Zheng Lao Ban."
"Based on the cardiac ultrasound, I highly suspect this foreign object is a living thing. Combining some ancient legends, after much hesitation I decided to tell you this," Zheng Ren said cautiously.
"Wait..." Chu Nu Ang Sai, hearing Zheng Ren's description, found it inconsistent, was startled and then became somewhat agitated.
"He first said it was a foreign object, then said it was a living thing... the difference between the two is like heaven and earth."
"Zheng Lao Ban..." Chu Nu Ang Sai, overly agitated, began to open his mouth and gasp heavily.
His skin quickly turned bluish-purple, and he began to cough violently.
Zheng Ren hurriedly put an oxygen mask on him.
However, Chu Nu Ang Sai's violent coughing stopped the inhalation of oxygen, and he could bring up pink, frothy sputum.
Acute cardiac failure had set in... Zheng Ren felt he needed to hurry and tell Chu Nu Ang Sai about this.
But his emotions were too agitated.
He called for doctors and nurses to come in for resuscitation. Inotropic, diuretic, and bronchodilator drugs were administered via several injections; after a few minutes Chu Nu Ang Sai's condition improved somewhat.
He also knew his condition was abnormal, but what Zheng Ren said was too shocking to hear, making it hard for Chu Nu Ang Sai to calm his mind.
"If you cannot stay calm, your heart function will keep deteriorating; I suggest we proceed with surgery as soon as possible," Zheng Ren said. "Anything else, we can discuss after the operation."
Chu Nu Ang Sai shook his head, closed his eyes, and focused on his breathing.
Under the effects of the medication and psychological factors, he gradually improved.
"Zheng Lao Ban, is the living thing you mentioned real?" Chu Nu Ang Sai asked, suppressing his emotions.
"Looking at the cardiac ultrasound, it appears so," Zheng Ren said. "I also compared several of your CT scans; the image in the right atrium position is abnormal."
Zheng Ren was speaking off the cuff; after all, it's a matter of reasoning backward from the result—why not just say what it is?
"Zheng Lao Ban, are you sure it's still alive?" Chu Nu Ang Sai asked, his voice trembling.
Zheng Ren nodded solemnly.
The word "death" already cast a shadow in Zheng Ren's mind as the surgeon.
Chu Nu Ang Sai struggled to get up; Zheng Ren went to help him, but Chu Nu Ang Sai, seeming like a dying person, burst forth with tremendous strength.
"Don't move!" Zheng Ren shouted. "Do you still want to live?"
Chu Nu Ang Sai fell from the bed to the floor, and Zheng Ren felt helpless.
"Bang!" the door was burst open, and several people came rushing in, shouting.
But the next second, they stared in disbelief as Chu Nu Ang Sai struggled to kneel on the ground, making the same gesture of offering thanks, palms together, bowing before Zheng Ren.
Several people's faces instantly changed; they hurriedly retreated, not daring to hear a word.
"What are you doing? Get up quickly," Zheng Ren said helplessly. "After you finish speaking, let's hurry into surgery."
"Zheng Lao Ban, if it is a living thing, can it be taken out while still alive?" Chu Nu Ang Sai asked, his voice trembling, as if asking about something momentous.
"Yes," Zheng Ren said firmly.
Chu Nu Ang Sai pressed his face to the floor, his shoulders slightly twitching; after a few seconds he said, "If possible, please be sure to give the living thing to my son."
"There is danger."
"Our family has magical implements; there will be no problem," Chu Nu Ang Sai said confidently.
"Are you sure?" Zheng Ren wondered, but didn't want to dwell on it; in a situation where the tech tree is mispointed, thinking too much gives a headache.
If he also drags his own tech tree off course, then it's all over.
"Certainly." Chu Nu Ang Sai said, exerting all his strength.
"Alright, then get up quickly," Zheng Ren said. "Your body won't hold out much longer."
Chu Nu Ang Sai, hearing that Zheng Ren had agreed to his request, breathed a sigh of relief, then solemnly kowtowed twice more before, with Zheng Ren's support, returning to the hospital bed.
"Zheng Lao Ban, if you can obtain it, should anything happen in the future, I, Chu Nu Ang Sai, will surely go through fire and water and not betray your trust," Chu Nu Ang Sai said to Zheng Ren.
Zheng Ren merely smiled.
What could possibly happen to me? From now on, never seeing those bug-players again is the proper thing.
After looking for a long time, I seem to have developed trypophobia.
Especially in the System Space, the red font marking the practitioner's death still makes Zheng Ren feel a bit fearful when he recalls it now.
Not seeing each other again would be the best repayment.
Zheng Ren walked out of the ward; the gazes of Chu Nu Ang Sai's disciples and relatives were full of awe. Not only did they dare not block the way, each one became like a quail, tightly clinging to the wall, making way for Zheng Ren and giving him a wide path.
However, Zheng Ren did not like this kind of gaze.
"Hurry up and go to the Operating Room." Zheng Ren said in English to that Western doctor.
Afterwards, he rushed back to the Operating Room.
"Zheng Lao Ban, the equipment is all ready; we can start the operation anytime." Lao He reported immediately upon seeing Zheng Ren return.
