1941 Is it too late for cancer in just two months? (Monthly ticket 53000 extra chapter ×106)

After arriving at the special needs ward, Zhou Chun Yong and Lin Ge were already waiting at the door early in the morning.

"Director Zhou, thank you very much this time." Zheng Ren reached out with a beaming face, sincerely thanking Zhou Chun Yong.

"Zheng Lao Ban, you say that." Zhou Chun Yong laughed heartily, "You're not at home, this is all I should do."

Zheng Ren looked at Zhou Chun Yong; he should have said something polite, but Zheng Ren felt whatever he said would be awkward, so he remained silent.

"Director Zhou, you really helped a lot this time. Don't leave tonight, let's have a meal together." Su Yun stood behind Zheng Ren, smiling, and said: "Come, let me introduce you. This is the patient's father, a good friend of our former director, Brother Wang."

"Brother Wang, this is the chief of the Capital Hepatobiliary Intervention Department, Director Zhou Chun Yong, a friend of our boss."

Su Yun's few light words made Zhou Chun Yong feel a bit light-headed.

Friend…… Do I count as a friend of Zheng Lao Ban?

Although kind words cost nothing, I ran around busy for half a day. But just those two words made Zhou Chun Yong feel it was worth the price.

After shaking hands with Wang Daoshi, Su Yun introduced Lin Ge to him, and everyone went upstairs.

"The child felt much better after the lidocaine injection; last night at midnight he said he was hungry, so I had my wife bring him some congee." Zhou Chun Yong said, "But after the anesthetic wore off, the pain started again. I thought it was too late and didn't call to ask if you needed another lidocaine injection."

"Mm." Zheng Ren also knew Zhou Chun Yong was genuinely concerned, but he wasn't good at expressing himself, so he just gave a brief acknowledgment.

After seeing Wang Daoshi's son, Zheng Ren had a clear idea. The system panel's diagnosis, aside from some ionic imbalances, clearly showed a styloid process syndrome.

Zheng Ren expressed satisfaction with that.

After a remote consultation and a few diagnostic treatments, I gave a clear diagnosis; this is indeed something to be a little proud of.

Now my clinical work level can be said to be quite good.

"Boss Zheng, your surgical skill is high, and your diagnostic level is truly high!" Seeing Wang Daoshi sitting at the bedside, worried about his son, while Zheng Lao Ban wore a calm expression, knowing they had it figured out, Zhou Chun Yong seized the moment to flatter.

"Director Zhou, your styloid process lateral view X-ray is also very good." Zheng Ren smiled and said, "The position was just right; back then I was worried this X-ray wouldn't turn out well, and then I couldn't give a diagnosis."

"I did it when I was young; even though small county-level hospitals now also do it, the skill is just so-so, definitely not as good as someone like me, an old hand." Zhou Chun Yong was not modest.

That X-ray could be said to show Zhou Chun Yong exhausting all his lifelong effort, displaying his technical skill to the fullest.

Sure enough, Zheng Lao Ban's eyes lit up, and he immediately saw it.

Zheng Ren saw the diagnosis was clear, just a minor ailment, so he relaxed; he and Zhou Chun Yong went to the outside reception room to sit and wait for Wang Daoshi.

Just as his buttocks touched the sofa, Zhou Chun Yong's phone rang.

He felt a bit embarrassed, stood up, took out his phone. He staggered for a moment, originally intending to apologize to Zheng Lao Ban, but seemed to forget and just walked out.

"Old Zhou has something to attend to." Su Yun said.

"Mm." Zheng Ren didn't really care about Zhou Chun Yong's private affairs, "Director Zhou is indeed considerate."

"Boss, you'd better get used to this." Su Yun whispered, "In the future, there will be more of this when people try to flatter you."

Zheng Ren shook his head, noncommittal.

After a few minutes, Zhou Chun Yong returned with a grim face and apologetically said, "Zheng Lao Ban, I'm really sorry, I won't be able to join dinner; an old friend of mine seems to be in bad shape."

"What illness?" Zheng Ren asked calmly.

For doctors, life and death partings are normal; seeing them often makes one a bit indifferent.

"Advanced lung cancer." Zhou Chun Yong sighed, "Two months ago he was fine, just had a minor heart issue and underwent radiofrequency ablation. You say this… sigh, how did it suddenly become advanced?"

"He was fine two months ago?" Zheng Ren wondered.

Lung cancer, even the fastest-progressing small cell type, wouldn't be this quick. But in special circumstances, who can say?

Zhou Chun Yong lost interest and nodded.

"Do you have the images?" Zheng Ren asked.

Zhou Chun Yong hesitated a moment; if someone else asked that, he'd either yell at them or storm off.

But Zheng Lao Ban… never mind, looking at the images isn't a big deal, just a twenty‑minute delay.

"Zheng Lao Ban, please wait a moment." Zhou Chun Yong said, "I'll have them send the images over."

Saying that, he began to contact.

"Advanced lung cancer? Two months is too fast." Su Yun whispered.

"Let's look at the images first." Zheng Ren also had some doubts.

Soon, Zhou Chun Yong came back with his phone. Su Yun created a group and pulled him into it.

This made Zhou Chun Yong feel flattered and surprised.

It was a small group with only Zheng Lao Ban, Su Yun, and himself, which made him a little excited. Unfortunately, the old friend's condition changed so suddenly that Zhou Chun Yong's mood turned gloomy.

"Zheng Lao Ban, there are two images: one from when he was admitted three days ago, and one just taken. The other side judged the disease progressing too fast; the person… might not make it." Zhou Chun Yong's voice grew increasingly low.

He sent the images to the group; Zheng Ren and Su Yun said nothing, just lowered their heads to look.

The image taken at admission showed a shadow at the left lung hilum, accompanied by left upper lung inflammation, lung collapse, and enlarged mediastinal lymph nodes.

After a quick glance, Zheng Ren began to look at the second image.

The first was a plain CT scan; the second, namely today's image, is a contrast-enhanced chest CT.

The image shows a soft‑tissue shadow at the left lung hilum, thickening and enhancement of the left bronchial wall, enlargement of the left lung hilum and mediastinal lymph nodes, inflammation of the left upper lobe, and moderate to large pleural effusion on the left side.

This is a typical imaging presentation of central‑type lung cancer.

"Zheng Lao Ban, tumor markers are elevated, time is a bit tight, so I didn't ask them for it." Zhou Chun Yong added.

Zheng Ren said nothing, but stared intently at the image, his brows furrowed.

Zhou Chun Yong didn't quite understand; with such typical imaging data and elevated tumor markers, shouldn't a diagnosis be made at a glance, and then…

Sigh, thinking of this, he let out a sigh.

"His condition came too suddenly; I really didn't expect it." After Zhou Chun Yong said that, the room remained quiet and cold—not only Zheng Ren remained silent, but Su Yun did too.

Zhou Chun Yong felt that beside him were two machines roaring, searching the image data for possible lesions.

Could I have misread it? Zhou Chun Yong stared in disbelief, glanced at Zheng Ren and Su Yun, sat down silently, and opened his phone to re‑examine the image.
