Chapter 2025: 1955, Forget It (Weapon Series 01 Bonus Chapter 1)

~6 min read 1,129 words

Lin Yuan watched the optical tweezers on the side, somewhat puzzled.

She saw Zheng Lao Ban performing a delicate operation, completely unlike any inspection method she knew, and wanted to ask Su Yun.

But as soon as that thought arose, she suppressed it.

But just as she dismissed the idea, Su Yun, as if reading her mind like a devil, immediately chuckled and asked, "Are you curious? How did something Harvard doesn't have end up in 912?"

Lin Yuan instinctively nodded.

"Miss, just get used to it. The adult world is different from yours. Especially after you come into the boss's world, you'll gradually get used to two words."

"Which two words?" Lin Yuan asked in surprise.

"Forget it." Su Yun laughed, "No matter how talented you are or which elite school you graduated from, you'll eventually find you can't keep up with that."

"Forget it…" Lin Yuan watched Zheng Lao Ban operating, feeling both curious and competitive.

"In the saline wet mount, five slides showed oval cysts, averaging 5–6 per low-power field, about 13 mm long and 8.5 mm wide, with thick cyst walls." Zheng Ren suddenly said softly.

Su Yun took pen and paper and began recording.

This is a cyst with parasites! Lin Yuan instantly became interested.

"After iodine staining, the cyst about 2 mm turns dark brown; under the microscope, four nuclei are seen offset to the sides, and an axial filament is visible inside, indicating a mature cyst."

Soon Zheng Ren lifted his head and said, "Send it for testing."

"Hmm, any suggestions?"

"Recommend using the Blue Star Giardia flagellate rapid diagnostic test kit, Germany's R-Biopharm, model N1102 for testing." Zheng Ren said, "If positive, take metronidazole orally for seven days then retest."

"Still need a retest?" Su Yun snorted contemptuously.

"Uh… probably not needed." Zheng Ren realized a flaw in his words, smiled, and said, "After oral metronidazole, the diarrhea should be cured. I estimate the patient and family won't stay in Di Du; we'll retest in seven days."

"There, just that simple." Su Yun and Lin Yuan said, "Seize the time to get used to it; those two words—forget it—are my gift to you… free of charge."

"…" Lin Yuan was speechless.

"Director Luo, here's the record; you explain it to the patient's family." Su Yun handed over the A4 sheet noting Zheng Ren's recent diagnosis and treatment to Director Luo.

Director Luo nodded and took the paper.

"Boss Zheng, there's another patient." Director Luo wasn't satisfied; he reminded Zheng Ren.

"Hmm, also five years of diarrhea, a very similar history?"

"Yes, largely the same." Director Luo said.

"Boss Zheng, can I keep the optical tweezers on my side?" Director Chi had no interest in whatever parasites; he was fixated on the optical tweezers.

"Uh…" Zheng Ren hesitated, then smiled, "Director Chi, just leave it with you; I'll ask for it if I need to use it."

"Boss Zheng, you're too polite!" Director Chi exclaimed excitedly, "I'm borrowing it, borrowing it."

Watching Director Chi beam like a child, yet with a hint of anxiety about changing his mind, Zheng Ren smiled.

"Then we'll take our leave." Zheng Ren said, "There's another similar patient to see."

As for the other patient…

The youngest person present was Lin Yuan, who also hadn't uttered the layman's remark that symptoms equal diagnosis.

Director Chi cradled the optical tweezers and escorted Zheng Ren all the way to the elevator entrance.

"Boss Zheng, you're being overly generous." As the elevator doors closed, Director Luo laughed.

"I hardly use it myself either; new technology needs to be spread. Placing it with Director Chi also makes full use of it." Zheng Ren said.

"Boss Zheng, what is that?" Lin Yuan finally seized the chance to ask.

"Optical tweezers, a first‑generation product, with average practicality." Zheng Ren said.

"Average…" I never expected Zheng Ren to give such an evaluation.

But Director Luo and Su Yun didn't object.

Lin Yuan felt helpless, thinking it's better to just forget it. Those two words really are quite useful.

"Boss Zheng, the next patient is especially strange." Director Luo said, "The patient reports five years of diarrhea, and blood tests show high eosinophils."

High eosinophils can indicate allergic‑type diseases, parasitic infections, skin diseases, blood disorders, malignant tumors, scarlet fever, and similar infectious diseases.

A mere increase in eosinophils alone doesn't carry much specific clinical significance.

And Zheng Ren understood Director Luo's implication.

Because the patient has diarrhea, he might suspect a parasitic infection, but five straight years of diarrhea is unusually long.

With chronic diarrhea plus eosinophilia, the possibilities are limited.

"Do you suspect eosinophilic enteritis?" Zheng Ren asked.

"Hmm." Director Luo nodded.

Eosinophilic enteritis is an allergic‑type disease; it usually heals well, with no reports of malignant transformation.

Director Luo had his own diagnosis but insisted Zheng Ren look because eosinophilic enteritis is extremely rare.

Zheng Ren pondered, systematically checking other issues.

Back in the office, Director Luo handed over the second medical record.

This time Lin Yuan paid closer attention, staring intently at the test reports alongside Boss Zheng.

But Boss Zheng flipped through the reports at lightning speed, finishing them in a swipe.

The speed of reviewing this report… forget it…

Lin Yuan felt helpless, taking the lab sheet from Zheng Ren's hand and continuing to examine it bit by bit.

"The patient has already been sent back; Boss Zheng, wait a moment—I'll have the family come so you can personally take the history." Director Luo said.

Zheng Ren nodded and placed the patient's film on the viewer.

Although this patient's history resembled the previous one—five years of diarrhea with no improvement despite many tests and treatments—none of those present thought the diagnosis would be the same as the earlier patient's.

"Diarrhea… Director Luo, you deal with these conditions all the time—do you ever feel occasional stomach pain?" Su Yun began joking loosely.

"Not being a medical student, you start wondering what illness you have as soon as you learn something." Director Luo said, "Just diarrhea as a symptom can be triggered by too many factors."

"Well, making a definite diagnosis of diarrhea is very difficult."

"Exactly!" Director Luo lightly tapped the table, "Just like..."

He hesitated for a moment, couldn't find a good metaphor.

"Just like a chef cooking, being able to make Buddha Jumps Over the Wall isn't much skill. The real skill is being able to make Buddha Jumps Over the Wall flavor out of vegetables and tofu!" Su Yun laughed.

This metaphor is a bit disgusting, after all it's diarrhea—how can it be linked to Buddha Jumps Over the Wall? Director Luo smiled; he didn't agree with Su Yun's statement, but he also didn't refute.

"I think your diagnosis is correct, eosinophilic enteritis, that's right!" Lin Yuan said.
