Chapter 2097: 2024 The Art of Communication
He didn't walk toward the department's direction, but instead followed the emergency department passage, came outside, found a quiet spot, and sat down.
He reached out to Su Yun, and a cigarette jumped into Zheng Ren's fingers.
"Want me to blow a Pikachu out for you?" Zheng Ren looked at Su Yun, trying to keep a smile. But he felt a bit uneasy, and even saying something like blowing out a Pikachu came out of his mouth.
"Are you feeling proud?" Su Yun said disdainfully, "Is handling turbulence a big deal?"
Su Yun lit the cigarette in his hand, took a deep drag, then exhaled a mouthful of smoke.
The corners of his lips twitched slightly; it seemed he wanted to write words in midair with the smoke.
But Su Yun's control of turbulence was obviously much weaker than Zheng Ren's; he couldn't even form a shape with the letters, and the smoke dissipated.
Yet Zheng Ren was quite surprised; normally he never sees this guy doing surgery, so how could his understanding of turbulence have reached this level?
Su Yun had already entered the inner sanctum, crossed that threshold; all that remained was diligent practice, accumulating experience points.
As for this guy's talent, Zheng Ren was genuinely impressed.
"Still didn't blow it out." Su Yun felt a bit down, but then smiled and said, "Boss, I've long heard the Chu family sisters praise you to the heavens, saying you're a divine doctor reincarnated."
"..." Zheng Ren had almost forgotten the time he knew Chu Yanran and Chu Yan zhi.
Back then I had just gotten a big pig trotter, showed off a bit; if it happened now I definitely wouldn't say it outright, but would tactfully advise the Chu family sisters' mother to go to the hospital for a checkup.
Even just checking a toothache, doing an ECG on the side would be fine.
"How is your experience with myocardial infarction richer than mine? Just now the patient's lips were a bit purplish; I glanced and didn't dare confirm." Su Yun didn't press further, but humbly asked for advice.
It's rare to see this guy not being smug, but genuinely asking questions sincerely.
Even with such a big matter as turbulence, he never asked Zheng Ren, but figured it out himself.
For those working in thoracic medicine, if they fail to spot a myocardial infarction, Su Yun would probably feel a sense of guilt in his heart.
"I'm not sure either." Zheng Ren let out a breath, saying, "It's just more likely; think of the worst-case scenario."
"What if it's not?"
"At most I'd get scolded a couple times for being incompetent, and no one would die. Besides, the patient thought I was an intern." Zheng Ren chuckled.
No need for further explanation; Su Yun filled in the answers himself in his head, and that feeling was really good.
"You're actually able to let things go." Su Yun said with a chuckle, "You're now Zheng Lao Ban, sweeping through Di Du, a lifetime professor at Massachusetts General Hospital—how many people say you're arrogant and overbearing?"
"But in my heart, I've always been the Inpatient Chief of Hai Cheng's Emergency Department. Being scolded a couple times for being subpar is no big deal." Zheng Ren smiled.
Su Yun seemed to be lost in thought, silent for a long while.
"What are you thinking about?" Zheng Ren finished his cigarette, stubbed it out, flicked his finger, and tossed the butt ten meters into the trash can, then asked casually.
"You couldn't possibly really have X-ray vision, could you?" Su Yun said leisurely.
His words exploded like a thunderclap above Zheng Ren's head.
However Zheng Ren still kept some composure, pretending to be relaxed as he said, "What do you think?"
"Sometimes I really think you have a problem." Su Yun sighed, "But more often I think you are... Boss, does the Fifth Edition Surgical Textbook have secrets? The initials connecting are special information left by medical predecessors, something like that, right?"
"..."
This brainhole is practically like a black hole, jumping from one point to another instantly, without any hesitation.
"Let's go."
"Where to?"
"Check on Sister Lin, then give her a filler injection for the wrinkles at the corners of her eyes."
"Cosmetic surgery—doing it lowers your value." Su Yun's tone was full of disdain.
"Sister Lin has worried a lot; helping out a little is normal."
"Boss, you really went out of your way for tomorrow's mother-in-law meeting." Su Yun said with a chuckle, "How long will the swelling take to go down?"
"It won't swell at all, not a bit." Zheng Ren said, "Don't forget to go get the optical tweezers from Director Chi."
"I wasn't interested originally, but seeing you so full of confidence, I really want to see you mess up and then have to explain it to Sister Lin." Su Yun blew a breath, his black hair fluttering on his forehead, and together they mocked Zheng Ren.
Zheng Ren had long been immune to Su Yun's spraying of his own words.
As Su Yun spoke, he habitually picked up his phone, both thumbs moving across it with afterimages, his hand speed extremely high.
Zheng Ren had a feeling that if Su Yun entered an e-sports competition, his ranking would surely not be low.
"Every day I see you fiddling with your phone—what's there to talk about?" Zheng Ren asked offhand.
Usually Zheng Ren really couldn't be bothered to manage others' private affairs, but today he almost ended up speechless from Su Yun's question, so he casually asked something to calm his tense mood.
"You don't get it." Su Yun glanced at Zheng Ren, "In interpersonal communication, as long as you can grasp the weakness, you can achieve your goal."
"Like Dahungya?"
"Don't gross me out; actually... it's pretty much the same." Su Yun thought, then laughed heartily, feeling that some of his actions were not much different from Dahungya's pretending to be mystical.
Zheng Ren became even more curious.
"Let me tell you something: when I was in grad school, the dorm was filthy, and every day I and my roommate didn't want to clean it."
One can imagine, this guy Su Yun is definitely not the type who likes to clean.
"So I registered a chat app account, asked a cosplay girl for photos, and also got a few voice clips—those cute, moe sounds that make your bones go soft." Su Yun said happily, gesturing wildly, recounting a past that others would rather not recall.
"Let's talk serious business." Zheng Ren frowned.
"A hypocrite, nothing more than this." Su Yun looked disdainfully at Zheng Ren and said, "Then I created various opportunities to chat with my roommate. Afterwards I got him to clean the room three times, each cleaning lasting about a month."
"Only three times?"
"Boss, nobody's an idiot. I used the chat app to tell him I'd go to the dorm to find him, so he'd definitely clean the room. But after I stood him up many times, my roommate became quite cunning and quickly figured it out." Su Yun said proudly.
"Tsk tsk, are you guys just bored and idle?" Zheng Ren found it a bit hard to tolerate.
"You're the type who talks while standing without back pain, eating instant noodles and still growing mushrooms—you have no right to say this here." Su Yun said: "If it weren't for Xiao Yi Ren, your life would already be a tangled mess."
"I agree with the first half of your last sentence." Zheng Ren smiled, "Let's go, stop spouting nonsense."
"Aren't you planning to watch the detached liver surgery?" Su Yun asked.
"Ectopic liver is rare, but it's just rare; the Shou Bing difficulty is not great, and there won't be any unexpected events." Zheng Ren said: "Go check on Sister Lin; preparing for the Afternoon Shou Bing is the real thing."
