Chapter 2500: 2412 Emergency Rescue……Chang Yue

~6 min read 1,164 words

Zheng Ren rushed in and saw Chang Yue lying on the ground, one hand reaching forward as if trying to grab something.

She wore pajamas, the exposed skin on her hands and wrists was flushed red, showing red maculopapular rashes. Because she was prone, the wheezing was low and rapid.

The system panel glowed red, about to drip blood, a bright diagnosis on it made Zheng Ren's heart sink to the bottom—anaphylactic shock!

Without the system diagnosis, the three people present could tell at a glance it was anaphylactic shock. Su Yun turned Chang Yue's body over; Zheng Ren held a phone, dialing 120 emergency rescue while shouting, "Where is the blade you train with?"

"The bedside table!" Su Yun's voice hoarse, neck veins bulging, forehead veins protruding, she forced out the three words with all her strength.

He said while opening Chang Yue's mouth, quickly checking for foreign objects or excessive secretions.

Immediately he placed one hand on Chang Yue's forehead, pinching her nostrils with thumb and index finger, the other hand gripping her jaw to tilt her head back as far as possible to keep the airway open, then took a deep breath and opened his mouth to seal around Chang Yue's mouth.

As Chang Yue's chest rose, after 1.5 inches, Su Yun lifted his head, drew a deep breath of oxygen, and gave another artificial respiration.

After the second breath, he lifted his head, released the hand pinching Chang Yue's nostrils, turned his face to the side, and brought his ear near her mouth and nose.

A sharp whistle sound came.

Laryngeal edema, bronchial spasm, obstructed breathing.

Xie Yiren felt Chang Yue's pulse, then urgently said, "The pulse is thready and fast; blood pressure is estimated around 70."

Su Yun's black hair in front of his forehead fluttered slightly, his eyes fixed on Chang Yue, faint bloodshot lines appearing. He didn't speak, took another deep breath, then performed artificial respiration again following the previous steps.

As fresh oxygen entered, Chang Yue's purplish lip color began to ease slightly.

After six artificial respirations, Zheng Ren rushed in, holding an incision pack and a blade.

Sterile blade in hand, ready at any moment to perform a tracheotomy. Although lacking other equipment, in an emergency this is all we can do; every extra second counts, as long as the ambulance arrives.

Fortunately, Su Yun usually practices surgery at home; although the instruments may be contaminated, they are still better than nothing.

Zheng Ren knelt on Chang Yue's left side, staring intently at her system panel.

"Yiren, watch the elevator; let the emergency personnel come up directly, don't waste time." Zheng Ren said calmly.

Xie Yiren didn't nod, didn't speak, turned and ran. One slipper fell off, she didn't notice.

Her fair little foot stepped on the floor, then she turned and vanished, heading for the elevator at top speed.

Chang Yue's blood pressure kept dropping, over time she broke out in profuse sweating, showing thready rapid pulse symptoms.

When the system panel's red reached its peak, it immediately began to turn white.

At the same time, Zheng Ren slid his left index and middle fingers along the rib cage inward to the point where the left and right rib arches meet, locating the subcostal notch of the sternum.

Then he placed his index and middle fingers horizontally above the subcostal notch of the sternum; the midpoint of the sternum above the index finger is the compression area.

He placed the heel of his other hand beside the index finger on the middle/lower third of Chang Yue's sternum, then removed the locating hand, stacked the heel over the back of the other hand, lifting the fingers off the chest wall.

With elbows locked, Zheng Ren's shoulders were directly above Chang Yue's sternum, arms vertical, pressing down with force; compression depth 5–6 cm, rate 100–120 per minute.

Zheng Ren could feel the toughness of Chang Yue's sternum, constantly making subtle force adjustments to avoid secondary injuries like sternum or rib fractures. Having mastered the feel, Zheng Ren no longer pressed violently; his rescue technique differed qualitatively from before.

Time trickled by, each second feeling as long as a year, agonizing.

Chang Yue's system panel color did not continue to fade; thanks to Zheng Ren and Su Yun's efforts, it barely maintained the most basic oxygen supply.

Zheng Ren performed external chest compressions while listening closely.

Besides the wheezing between Chang Yue's mouth and nose, Su Yun's heavy, panicked breathing, he was listening for the sound of the 120 emergency ambulance.

Damn, it's so slow! Zheng Ren cursed fiercely in his heart, shouldn't it have arrived by running already?

At that moment, only 1 minute 12 seconds had passed since he made the call.

Zheng Ren felt his vision dimming, suddenly his arms felt sore, numb, and heavy.

He knew that with his physique, performing chest compressions for half an hour to an hour wouldn't cause this. It was due to excessive tension, triggering an overrelease of adrenaline and glucocorticoids.

Just like a novice doctor stepping on stage with stiff movements, he never expected that this veteran driver would also have moments like this.

Zheng Ren maintained at least 100 chest compressions per minute while taking a deep breath to calm himself.

He glanced at Su Yun; her face was pallid, lips slightly trembling, she too was struggling to suppress her emotions, lest she lose control.

As the distant 120 ambulance's sound rang out, Zheng Ren suddenly recalled that the community hospital was downstairs; if he went there directly to fetch rescue drugs, he could save a minute or two…

Before he could regret it, Xie Yiren had already run in, holding an emergency kit aloft, shouting, "Epinephrine?"

"Epinephrine 0.5 mg IV push!" Seeing Xie Yiren think of going ahead, Zheng Ren felt instantly reassured.

Xie Yiren opened the emergency kit, uncapped the medicine bottle, drew out epinephrine, disinfected locally, and with one swift injection pushed the epinephrine into Chang Yue's vein.

"Dexamethasone 10 mg, intravenous injection."

"Epinephrine 0.5 mg, intravenous injection again."

"Maintain intravenous access, epinephrine drip." Zheng Ren said.

"Dopamine, IV push."

As footsteps sounded from the door, Zheng Ren roared, "Did you bring the salbutamol?"

"Zheng Lao Ban, here!"

Tang Haitao came trotting in, one hand carrying the emergency rescue box, the other holding a bottle of salbutamol spray.

"Promethazine, intramuscular injection."

"Dexamethasone, 10 mg, intravenous injection."

Zheng Ren observed Chang Yue's changes, mainly deciding the next rescue steps based on the system panel's color feedback.

Epinephrine and glucocorticoids entered the bloodstream; soon Chang Yue's airway spasm sound lessened considerably.

The heart regained its autonomous rhythm; Zheng Ren lifted his hand from her sternum.

An ECG monitor was attached; the readings showed Chang Yue's blood pressure slightly low at 80/40 mmHg, oxygen saturation 90%, heart rate 122 beats per minute.

The ECG showed sinus tachycardia.

Fortunately… after spraying salbutamol on Chang Yue, seeing her breathing difficulty further ease, Zheng Ren exhaled in relief.

"Stretcher."
