Chapter 2555: 2463 It's out
2463 It's out! It's out! (Alliance Leader Jiangnan Chunjiang Shui extra chapter 1)
In the meeting room, Li Chuzhang from the publicity department chatted with the reporters.
He spoke humorously, and all media outlets were familiar with him, especially his extraordinary memory. Even someone meeting him for the first time would clearly remember his name, and a few words would give them an understanding of his temperament, likes and dislikes.
When he spoke, he catered to others' tastes, and the atmosphere in conversation was fairly harmonious. Although they had waited a long time, the media's mood remained relatively stable; it cannot be denied that his ability to get things done is strong.
Many tricky and odd questions were brushed off by Li Chuzhang, who only spoke of positive things. In fact, that was appropriate; Li Chuzhang looked down on those who kept their eyes fixed on negative situations.
What? You think you can win the Nobel Prize just by being nominated in the first year? Do you think the Nobel Prize is run by your family, that you can just say you'll get it and get it!
What? Not winning the Nobel Prize is due to insufficient support from the institute? Could a domestic top-tier hospital support that? Even a top-tier tertiary hospital couldn't.
What? Zheng Lao Ban's level isn't enough? If his level isn't enough, then yours is!
Many questions made Li Chuzhang feel both amused and exasperated, but he still had to patiently explain, with a gentle tone and friendly attitude, leaving no opening.
"Li Chuzhang, there's still no news that Zheng Ren, Doctor Zheng, has won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Could you say a few words about this?" a reporter asked, irritated, his tone slightly impatient.
Li Chuzhang glanced at him, his smile warm yet restrained. Although he thought, as a tabloid reporter, what right did he have to speak in such a commanding tone?
But he didn't show his displeasure; he patiently explained.
"Not winning the Nobel Prize is completely normal; after all, there are many scientists of his caliber, and Zheng Lao Ban is still young."
Having said that, seeing the reporter about to speak again, he paused and continued: "As one of the greatest scientists of modern times—Stephen Hawking never won a Nobel Prize in his lifetime, which is regrettable."
"Professor Hawking's theory cannot be verified, which is why he couldn't win the Nobel Prize in Physics," the little reporter said.
Li Chuzhang, seeing the topic had been steered toward what he needed, smiled faintly and said unhurriedly: "The item for which Einstein won the Nobel Prize was not his groundbreaking relativity, but the tiny photoelectric effect to him, which carries deep significance."
From the experiences of these scientists, one can see that the Nobel Prize judges still have their own logic.
The little reporter was instantly confused by Li Chuzhang; his vague, boundless remarks left him unable to rebut.
"Moreover, Professor Hawking not winning the Nobel Prize doesn't affect his standing in physics history. For this, the Yuri Physics Prize set up by Mr. Yuri Milner takes the opposite stance to the Nobel Prize in Physics. The Yuri Physics Prize mainly awards various conjectures, and from a worldly perspective, its prize money is 2.5 times that of the Nobel Prize, so Professor Hawking also has no regrets."
The meeting room door stayed open all afternoon; reporters came and went, leaving the place a bit chaotic.
Li Chuzhang was using all his experience to deal with the media, speaking fluently, when he suddenly saw several familiar figures walk in through the door.
He stopped his wild, unfocused talk that never clearly expressed a point and left people bewildered, and turned his head to look.
It was Vice President Yuan and Ye Qingqiu, Director Ye, who had arrived.
Li Chuzhang exhaled in relief; the saviors had arrived, so he no longer had to stand here and go through the motions. These few hours had drained so much of his energy that he was showing faint signs of low blood sugar.
He was careful, afraid that a single misspoken word would give someone a hold on him. Such incidents aren't common, but they're certainly not rare.
Li Chuzhang didn't want to make a mistake in this matter.
"President Yuan, you've come." Li Chuzhang greeted him immediately, then exchanged greetings with Ye Qingqiu.
He glanced at Vice President Yuan for his opinion, then clapped and said, "Please let President Yuan say a few words."
Vice President Yuan didn't go up to the podium but came to the seats, smiling and said, "Thank you, media friends, for your concern about Doctor Zheng's Nobel Prize nomination."
"President, what's your view on Doctor Zheng not winning the Nobel Prize?" a somewhat sinister voice came from the back rows.
Vice President Yuan smiled and said, "Has Doctor Zheng been rejected? I haven't heard about this yet. The website hasn't posted the list of winners, so we'll know the specifics later."
His words hid a barb, refusing to compromise on principle. Since the official announcement hadn't been made, strictly speaking we couldn't say Zheng Lao Ban had lost; Vice President Yuan seized a loophole in the other's wording and struck back mercilessly.
"However!" his voice rose a little, and his tone shifted sharply.
"912's pursuit and effort in advancing medical technology will never change; our investment in technology and support for medical workers will never change. Whether Doctor Zheng can win the Nobel Prize or not, our institute will continue to support him as always. If one year doesn't work, we can try two; if two years don't work, we can try ten. Doctor Zheng is still under thirty, so the future is promising."
Vice President Yuan specially emphasized Zheng Ren's age, indicating youth and immaturity, while also suggesting a bright future from another angle.
"At this point, Doctor Zheng isn't showing up—isn't that a bit excessive?" the reporter muttered quietly.
Vice President Yuan furrowed his brow, but it was only a slight gesture, quickly concealed.
As for the media, Vice President Yuan has encountered them often; without some fixed prejudice, the media would never have dared to question him to his face like this.
He looked at the reporter sitting by the back door, smiled and asked, "You seem to regret that Doctor Zheng didn't win the Nobel Prize, and I feel the same way."
"However, Doctor Zheng is performing emergency surgery and can't communicate with the media right now; I hope everyone can understand more."
The unnamed reporter didn't speak further, he shifted slightly and let out an impatient sigh.
Vice President Yuan secretly shook his head; domestic reporters basically haven't staked out Nobel Prize phone calls, whereas foreign reporters would already be familiar with the process, so there wouldn't be so many complaints.
A "thud" sound came over, interrupting Vice President Yuan's train of thought; he looked over, somewhat displeased.
Someone ran in, moving too fast to stop, his shoulder hit the door and he nearly fell over.
Vice President Yuan saw that it was a staff member from the publicity department; he seemed not to have noticed that he almost fell, but instead held up his phone in a weird posture and shouted loudly, "It's out! It's out!!"
