Chapter 2614: 2515.2421 Model of Learning
2515.2421 Model of Learning
Su Yun's lips curled up as he went to open the door.
Zheng Ren stood up, made a gesture, indicating he didn't need to move, and instead he himself walked straight to the door.
Opening the door, Fan Tian Shui stood before the crowd, blocking the way. He had gradually blended into the ordinary world, his sharp edges concealed. Yet in his gaze, he looked proud and self-assured.
This isn't a battlefield; if someone barges in, you can't just kill them to silence them.
Thus term: Thus term: Kelisidian's two bodyguards stood to one side, which made Principal Zhang somewhat wary, so he didn't force his way in.
Su Yun didn't obediently follow Zheng Ren's arrangement; he followed beside him and at a glance saw the principal of the Medical University Affiliated Hospital and a foreign old man.
That foreign old man looked familiar; Su Yun narrowed his eyes and immediately recalled that Fugui'er had given him materials introducing him.
He then laughed.
"Boss, he's the chairman of the Nobel Prize review committee, Doctor Lavesen." Su Yun whispered to Zheng Ren.
"Hmm." Zheng Ren was somewhat surprised—how did that old scholar's system panel glow red? But he didn't show surprise, just gave a slight nod.
Fan Tian Shui, seeing Zheng Ren come out, flashed to the side, but still stared tigerishly at the visitors.
"Zheng Lao Ban." Principal Zhang only then felt a lightness in his body, strode over, extended his hand, "You're quite the busy person now; it's truly hard to get a meeting."
"The principal of the Medical University Affiliated Hospital." Su Yun whispered.
"Principal Zhang, you're too polite." Zheng Ren said, "You've had two guests; this is—"
"Just now Doctor Lavesen said he came admiring your name and wanted to exchange a few words." Principal Zhang saw Zheng Ren's mountain-like body blocking the doorway, and didn't even ask the visitors to come in and sit. His originally somewhat muddled mood turned somewhat impatient.
"I really can't get away." Zheng Ren wore his habitual fake smile, "How about we go to the hospital to talk?"
Principal Zhang was resentful; he himself had brought Doctor Lavesen from 912 to the Community Hospital. Although the distance wasn't far, this was hardly the way to treat a guest. Moreover, who was Doctor Lavesen? Chairman of the Biology and Medicine Nobel Prize committees!
Upon seeing Doctor Lavesen invited, his first thought was about Zheng Lao Ban's side. Creating an exchange opportunity for Zheng Lao Ban would likely make him grateful.
But he hadn't expected that this young brat would be so clueless.
Zheng Ren didn't budge; after shaking hands with Principal Zhang, he still had no intention of leaving the doorway.
"Doctor Zheng!" Doctor Lavesen said in Swedish, "Very pleased to meet you."
"Doctor Lavesen, nice to meet you, please take care of me." Zheng Ren greeted politely.
Doctor Lavesen stepped forward and extended his hand.
Just now someone blocked the system panel, so Zheng Ren couldn't see Doctor Lavesen's system panel clearly. Now, standing before him, a diagnosis suddenly appeared in Zheng Ren's eyes—lower right lung cancer.
"Uh... he already has lung cancer, yet he's still running around everywhere?" Zheng Ren froze for a moment.
Could it be that it hasn't been detected? That seems impossible; people of their esteemed academic status get regular checkups. If there were malignancy, it would surely be caught early and treated early.
Zheng Ren shook his hand, felt the change in Doctor Lavesen's palm, and immediately confirmed his "correct" idea.
Not easy, Zheng Ren thought, perhaps it's the old man's persistence and dedication.
There must be some unfulfilled wish, especially since he's an old scientist and scholar. Thinking of this, a solemn respect arose in his heart. For the spread of academia, he travels the world despite illness.
In an instant, Doctor Lavesen's image loomed large in Zheng Ren's heart.
"Doctor, is your condition inoperable?" Zheng Ren asked, "Do you have any scans? Let me take a look."
Su Yun suddenly froze, the boss is really damn sneaky! Bringing up surgery upon meeting, his tone seemed to be a subtle hint that Doctor Lavesen had a malignant tumor, or that surgery wasn't possible.
Tsk tsk, Doctor Lavesen is the biggest stumbling block to winning the Nobel Prize; if it were me, I'd surely not give him a pleasant face either. Su Yun found excuses for Zheng Ren in his heart and chuckled while watching the drama.
"Huh?" Doctor Lavesen startled.
Zheng Ren's Swedish was incredibly fluent, with a strong Stockholm accent. If he closed his eyes, Doctor Lavesen felt he was back in Sweden, wandering the streets of Kristianstad.
But this Doctor Zheng, upon meeting, immediately talks about surgery—what does that mean?
The translator softly repeated Zheng Ren's words, but his voice grew softer and softer, until it was almost like a mosquito's buzz.
Did I mishear? The translator felt somewhat lost.
I hadn't heard that Doctor Lavesen came to the capital while ill to attend an academic conference, and over the past few days I've been following him, yet I haven't seen anything abnormal about him.
Is this heading for a fight…?
If I misheard and caused an international dispute, that would be huge! The translator thought of that and sweat beaded at his temples.
He looked pleadingly at Zheng Ren, truly hoping this youthful-to-the-point-of-being-hair-raising expert would repeat himself. Surely just now there was some obscure word usage that he missed in his simultaneous interpreting.
Principal Zhang and the others also froze, wondering what Zheng Lao Ban was doing.
"Doctor Lavesen, you've truly worked hard." Zheng Ren said sincerely, "You came to the capital while ill to give lectures, devoting yourself to advancing academia; a true scholar should be like you—you are my model of learning."
As he spoke, he applied slight pressure, yet didn't hurt Doctor Lavesen's hand, looking at him with passionate, sincere eyes.
"……" Doctor Lavesen finally understood.
The anger he had long suppressed finally burst forth!
Is this a curse on himself? It's downright vicious! Doctor Lavesen felt Zheng Ren's grip tighten; he wanted to fling Zheng Ren's hand away, but his angry hand trembled, and instead he gripped even tighter.
The misunderstanding continued.
"Do you have any imaging? Some surgeries others can't perform—I can try." Zheng Ren continued sincerely.
Doctor Lavesen's vision went black, he nearly fainted. The anger in his chest was like Mount Vesuvius suddenly erupting, burying Pompeii, a flood of scorching magma, blazing hot beyond compare, unstoppable.
"You're going too far!" Doctor Lavesen finally tore off all masks, shouting loudly, "Even if the Bruhl Family speaks for you, I will resist to the end, absolutely——"
As he spoke, Doctor Lavesen saw an elegant tailcoat appear before him.
A pallid face, a pallid neck, and on the neck two scars.
"Doctor Lavesen, are you saying you want to become an enemy of the great Bruhl Family?" Thus term: Thus term: Kelisidian asked with a smile, "Truly I admire your courage; aside from the Vatican, you're the only one who dares to openly declare oneself an enemy of the Bruhl Family."
