Chapter 2643: 2544.2447 Leave a Margin When Doing Things
2544.2447 Leave a Margin When Doing Things
20 minutes later, Zheng Renhe and Su Yun arrived at the Medical Affairs Dispute Office.
Lin Ge seemed a bit tired, holding an enamel basin, lost in thought, not knowing what was on their mind.
"Director Lin, you're really good at bragging!" Su Yun said upon meeting, praising them.
"Ah? Oh." Lin Ge smiled, "Not entirely bragging; when I was young my body was still decent. Now that I'm old, the only things I can compare with others are blood sugar, blood lipids, and blood pressure."
"Director Lin, thank you." Zheng Ren sincerely expressed thanks.
"Small matter, small matter." Lin Ge said politely over and over.
"Boss, I've told you before, living like this—coming home after surgery every day—just won't work." Su Yun said contemptuously: "Without communicating with people, how do you know what anyone can do? Look at Director Lin; I bet when we were talking, he'd already decided to find someone from the City Bureau Technical Section."
"It'd be safer, but pulling someone to work overtime at this hour is a bit awkward." Lin Ge smiled, hinting at the difficulty of doing so.
Zheng Ren had previously considered this from a clinical doctor's perspective, and there really wasn't much he could do. Moreover, in his haste he hadn't thought of many things; if they went through normal procedures, whether various samples could reach the Technical Section and how long that would take were unknown.
Meanwhile, Lin Ge took action and resolved the issue in a few hours.
"Director Lin, if I may say, you're still too soft‑hearted." Su Yun retorted habitually: "Why bother advising her at the end? Someone like her deserves a heavy sentence."
"Zheng Lao Ban, Doctor Su, haven't you eaten yet? Let's grab a bite and chat?" Lin Ge asked with a smile.
Zheng Ren's forehead beaded with sweat.
Lin Ge indeed hadn't eaten, having only drunk water. But he and Su Yun, along with the security guards in the monitoring room, had already eaten their fill—especially Su Yun, who probably had those skewers stuck in their throat.
"Not yet, Director Lin—what would you like to eat? Let's have a good drink tonight." Su Yun said casually; seeing a hint of embarrassment on Lin Ge's face, she immediately added, "Feel free—we're among friends, no need to stand on ceremony."
"Just grab some skewers." Lin Ge laughed, "It's late; we need to hurry home. You don't know—when I get home late, my wife sniffs every piece of clothing like a drug‑sniffing dog. Skewers are fine; the strong smell means she won't suspect anything."
"Yeah, the barbecue smell is strong, and that woman's perfume is also a bit heavy. Director Lin, you're far‑sighted—impressive." Su Yun said half‑jokingly.
Leaving room 912, they casually found a barbecue stall at a nearby night market. Su Yun ordered drinks all the way but only wanted a few bottles of beer.
The weather gradually cooled; these night market stalls probably won't stay open much longer. After the autumn heat wave passes, they'll likely have to move back indoors. To enjoy the pleasure of sitting street‑side at midnight eating skewers, one must wait half a year.
"I just gave her an out, thinking that one shouldn't push people too far in anything." Lin Ge said.
After saying that, seeing Su Yun's dismissive expression, Lin Ge didn't get angry, smiled and said, "I haven't experienced that; I'm just repeating what an old comrade said."
This was Gossip Mode activated; Zheng Ren felt at ease, lightly nibbling on a skewer.
"There was a patient whose family was poor; during treatment the department head donated some money and tried to save, so they were discharged with little expense after recovering. The patient expressed gratitude, but then problems arose." Lin Ge said.
"When settling the bill, they argued a few words with the person handling discharge; that person had a big temper and filed a complaint. The staff member in charge of receiving complaints was impatient, saying, 'Our Hospital treats you this well, and you're complaining about nothing.'"
That's probably not exactly what was said, but that's the general idea, and Zheng Ren understood.
He watched Lin Ge's slightly graying sideburns, pondering how this gossip affair would develop.
"As a result, that person became overcome with anger and started speaking wildly. Looking back, it was likely shame turning to rage, spouting off without restraint."
"Then what?" Su Yun asked.
"After that, the accusations turned to the department head; the patient claimed the Hospital had treated him poorly to make their theory hold, and also filed a complaint against the department head."
"……"
Zheng Ren was speechless, shaking his head.
"Afterward, the department head was summoned to the Medical Affairs Dispute Office, where he pointed at his nose and shouted, 'What do you think I'm doing to you? I donated money for your treatment, and you dare turn around and complain about me?'"
"That's the reasoning."
"The patient also panicked, added shame and anger, and suffered a heart attack. Fortunately it happened in the Hospital; otherwise… the situation went from justified to unjustified, and the department head ended up receiving a disciplinary action." Lin Ge said leisurely, talking about old sesame seeds and rotten millet.
"So let's get the facts straight and hand things over to whoever the procedure says. Speaking of today's incident, the video surveillance is there; if that woman kneels in front of me with a table blocking, my leg and her head wouldn't be in the camera's view. And if I then claim I forced her to do something, this couldn't be explained." Lin Ge said.
"Haha, Director Lin, you're being overly cautious." Su Yun laughed, holding a beer bottle.
"This is still a small matter; if she were too scared, she could just open the window and jump from the Dispute Office. I keep saying the Dispute Office should be moved to the ground floor to eliminate all hazards, but I've suggested it several times and it's never been approved."
"Always give people a way out; we're doctors, not police or judges, so there's no need to drive anyone to desperation." Lin Ge said slowly and deliberately, explaining his reasoning.
Zheng Ren suddenly felt that Lin Ge made sense.
Leave a margin in everything; if it comes to a fight to the death, no one really knows how it will end.
Is the possibility Lin Ge mentioned nonexistent? Of course it exists!
"I've long said all departments should install 360‑degree blind‑spot‑free surveillance, but the Hospital never comes up with the funds." Lin Ge continued to nag.
The more Su Yun thought about the scene Lin Ge just described, the more interesting it seemed, and Su Yun and Lin Ge began discussing its feasibility and emergency response plans.
Barbecue food cools quickly if you eat slowly.
Lin Ge finished eating, chuckling as he asked, "Zheng Lao Ban, Doctor Su, may I ask something?"
"Nobel Prize, fifty‑fifty." Su Yun laughed.
"All right, all right." Lin Ge said, "It's the National Day holiday now; once work resumes, this will likely be settled soon. Zheng Lao Ban, if you get a call, please don't hang up thinking it's a spam call."
"No way—we've been waiting for this forever. Those gossip rumors say Nobel laureates treat the notification call as a spam call, acting all high and mighty—no way! We'll definitely be on the alert early, ears perked, so you can relax, Director Lin." Su Yun said.
"Then please let me know early—I'll be happy too."
"Sure!" Su Yun replied cheerfully.
"Zheng Lao Ban? You have free time this Evening?" A woman's voice came from behind Zheng Ren.
