Chapter 2726: 2628.2528 All Hands on Deck (Alliance Leader Jiangnan Chunjiang Shui extra chapter 4)
2628.2528 All Hands on Deck (Alliance Leader Jiangnan Chunjiang Shui extra chapter 4)
After checking the supplies, Zheng Ren led the entire medical team into the operating room, preparing to scrub in.
"Director Lin, is your girl coming along for the interventional surgery?" Pangzhuren saw Zheng Ren leading the medical team in to scrub up, and asked quietly.
Although his voice was soft, he stressed the two words "intervention" heavily.
Director Lin's gaze was somewhat complex; he nodded slightly.
If they could avoid doing interventional procedures, they would; that's the shared sentiment of countless people. If it weren't for making money or finding a job, no one would want to risk their life to treat others' illnesses.
Pangzhuren felt somewhat dejected; he just couldn't understand how following Boss Zheng could be that important.
Director Lin's girl is, after all, a Harvard doctor, backed by Director Lin; there's no need to rely on Boss Zheng as a backer. To put it bluntly, even if Lin Yuan did nothing and just waited for handouts, either of those two advantages would be enough to sustain her for life.
"I heard Boss Zheng's medical team is especially busy." Liang Zhuren asked.
"Well, when I first went there, I'd get home around eleven every day. Sometimes I didn't even have a bite to eat, working on an empty stomach." Director Lin originally wanted to highlight Lin Yuan's hardship, but as he spoke, he began to feel a sense of helplessness and sorrow.
His daughter's ability to endure hardship is a path forged through sheer effort. Though it should be a cause for joy, Director Lin is still somewhat unhappy, or rather, feels heartache.
Soon, he saw a group of people finish scrubbing, put on lead clothing, and walk into the operating room. The heavy lead clothing felt like a mountain weighing on Director Lin's chest, making him feel somewhat breathless.
In the operating room, Xie Yiren had already put on lead clothing, scrubbed up, changed into sterile gown, and stood by the instrument table, lightly tapping the surgical instruments with the circulating nurse to count them.
Although they might not be needed, once they are, there's no time to scrub in again. So to be safe, she arrived earlier than Zheng Ren.
"Boss, if we really need two surgeons, don't hold me back." Su Yun said while wiping her hands with iodine.
"Don't worry, I won't." Zheng Ren didn't rebut Su Yun's remark; he just glanced at Xie Yiren, who was attentively counting gauze, and gave a casual reply.
"I say, is it really okay for you to favor romance over friendship?" Su Yun asked.
"That's pretty normal; if I kept staring at you, that would be wrong." Zheng Ren said.
"Boss Zheng, anesthesia is ready." Lao He said from the side.
"Um, prepare the emergency medication; if the pacing lead breaks when we pull it out, we'll need to resuscitate." Zheng Ren said.
"Everything's ready." Lao He said: "Don't worry, I'm watching this side."
Zheng Ren glanced over; Lao He, unafraid of waste, had laid out a row of 5ml syringes filled with emergency medication in front of him.
This is indeed somewhat wasteful, after all, the success rate of surgeries in the system operating room is relatively high, and Zheng Ren is confident the interventional surgery will succeed.
But Lao He's approach is certainly not wrong, and it's very necessary.
Different drugs have varying effective durations once drawn. Some drugs degrade easily or undergo other physical or chemical changes, so they must be injected promptly. Some drugs are relatively stable and, if kept free of dust and other contaminants, can be retained for at least 24 hours.
At least during the surgery we don't have to worry about medication issues; if something happens, Lao He has the rescue drugs and a three-way connector at hand.
Zheng Ren can be confident that, within three seconds, the rescue medication he needs can be injected into the patient's vein and enter the bloodstream; at the fastest speed, the patient absorbs it, improving their condition.
He nodded and said, "I'll stand on the left, Su Yun on the right, Lin Yuan, you assist Su Yun."
Lin Yuan finished disinfecting, laid out the sterile drape, the airtight lead door slowly closed, and the surgery officially began.
Feng Xu Hui wore lead clothing, carefully holding a pile of supplies, standing in a corner like a tin man.
Su Yun first performed a femoral vein puncture, then Zheng Ren did a puncture; two right femoral vein punctures left in place dual 6F vascular sheaths, standard and strict.
The two puncture sites do not interfere with each operator's maneuvering; within close reach, they can move freely.
Zheng Ren manipulated the guidewire forward, threaded it, and along the inferior vena cava sent the guidewire to the target position.
"6F large-tip ablation catheter." Zheng Ren said in a low voice.
Feng Xu Hui had already placed the ablation catheter in front of Xie Yiren; as Zheng Ren spoke, the catheter was handed to him.
The 6F large-tip ablation catheter was brought into position, using its front hook to snag the abandoned lead.
"Snare." Su Yun reached out, and the needed snare was brought to her hand.
He sent the shape-memory alloy snare forward, looping it around the distal end of the large-tip ablation catheter, while gently pulling back on the catheter and the snare.
"The adhesions are tight." Su Yun frowned and said, "If this were the surgery from a year or two ago, we'd be done by now."
Zheng Ren narrowed his eyes at the screen; as the heart pumped, the abandoned lead and the proximal pacemaker electrode appeared on the display.
"J-shaped curved fixed guidewire."
"Steel wire."
Zheng Ren finally began the most difficult maneuver.
……
……
Outside the operating room, the two directors of internal medicine watched Zheng Ren and the entire medical team's operation, somewhat bewildered.
Pangzhuren's previous surgical failure occurred when entering via the subclavian vein; compared to the femoral vein, it is still much narrower. Even if he wanted to perform a two-surgeon procedure, he couldn't achieve that.
"Director Liang, how do you think this surgery is going?" Pangzhuren asked softly.
"I've never performed a two-surgeon procedure, though I have tried surgeries with two introducer sheaths; it's too difficult." Liang Zhuren said solemnly.
"So it can actually be done this way; Boss Zheng's maneuver of hooking the abandoned lead with the 6F large-tip ablation catheter is quite clever."
"Did you notice that the shape-memory snare was bent at an angle by the operator?"
The two of them watched as the abandoned electrode tip on the screen was fixed front and rear, and they simultaneously held their breath.
We must get it out!
Those watching the procedure in the operating room clasped their hands tightly; if this step succeeded, they could emerge from anesthesia. Even Professor Chang could walk back to the ward—there would be absolutely no problem.
At this point, both Pangzhuren and Old Director Liang had forgotten their earlier belief that Boss Zheng couldn't remove the lead via interventional means; they hadn't expected the surgery to still be able to do this.
But the next second, they were disappointed.
The electrode tip remained firmly lodged in the right atrial appendage, completely still.
On the screen, the snare and ablation catheter twitched slightly, causing the two directors' hearts to lurch like a roller coaster.
If too much force were used, causing bleeding, they'd likely need an open-chest rescue; rather than that, it would be better to simply split the sternum, open the heart, and extract the abandoned lead and electrode.
Take it easy, absolutely don't get into trouble, Zheng Lao Ban. No, better to open the chest.
……
……
Asking for likes, asking for monthly votes. Shou Bing has more scenes; might not be able to finish within 24 hours, don't rush, don't rush, will definitely be done within 48 hours.
