Chapter 3085: line with translation of chapter title

~7 min read 1,258 words

Su Yun's phone rang, he picked it up and glanced at it, and said to Zheng Ren, "Boss, it's Sun Zeli."

"Director Ma, we've found a familiar reporter, you see……" Zheng Ren said.

Director Ma was stunned for a moment. A familiar reporter—what is Boss Zheng planning to do? From a media angle, to turn this thing around? Or to kick someone when they're down?! The latter possibility is unlikely; anyone in the medical field would not do such a thing.

"Which newspaper's?" Director Ma asked casually.

Sun Zeli

"……" Director Ma's heart had ten thousand alpaca Mercedes galloping across.

If Boss Zheng just randomly found a newspaper to help argue a bit, that would still be understandable. But he brought in Hua Shi TV—doesn't he think this is too big a deal?! Those ratings are through the roof. Director Ma would actually like to appear on Hua Shi TV, but he absolutely doesn't want to do it this way.

Just as he was about to refuse, Director Ma realized it was better not to. Boss Zheng meant well, but getting a Hua Shi TV reporter isn't that simple—you can't treat them like takeout, ordered and delivered at will.

"Should I call her up?" Zheng Ren still respected Director Ma, after all, this isn't 912, and we can't have Lin Ge running around for every little thing.

Director Sun

Director Mao

Zheng Ren stood up and went down with Su Yun to meet Sun Zeli. As for this reporter friend whose first impression was like a vase, Zheng Ren was still full of friendliness.

Seeing Zheng Ren go out, Director Ma directly asked, "Director Sun, what do you think is going on with the patient?!"

"I……" Sun Chao was completely dumbfounded, left speechless by Director Ma's question.

"What 'you'? How did you even become a director?!"

With Zheng Ren, Su Yun, and these outsiders gone, Director Ma bared his fangs. He had long been stockpiling resentment toward Sun Chao, and now he let it out, needing to scold Sun Chao until he was drenched in dog's blood to ease his grudge a bit.

Sun Chao lowered his head; he truly didn't know what had happened. Just thinking of the patient's eyes bleeding, crawling out of the Operating Room, made him feel terrible all over.

"Director Ma, calm down." Mao Chi said, "I just glanced at the medical record; the patient's admission exam showed a great saphenous vein varicosity in the right lower limb, and all other tests were fine. Nobody wants things to have escalated to this point. To be honest, I still haven't figured out what's going on."

You must be Director Mao from 912, what brings you here today...

We came to see Director Sun on Boss Zheng's behalf to discuss something," Mao Chi said with an embarrassed smile.

He didn't dare mention that Sun Chao had come to ask Boss Zheng to save the station; he just gave a vague reason for being here.

Section Chief Ma gave Mao Chi a cold look, giving him no face at all; he wasn't Boss Zheng, so what right did an ordinary 912 section chief have to point fingers in front of him?

"Director Sun, this matter is only getting bigger; why don't you go check on the patients, since they're under your ward, it'll be easier to talk about." Section Chief Ma tossed the issue to Sun Chao lightly, saying, "Let's resolve it quickly; it can't drag on overnight. If it festers longer, who knows what it'll turn into."

Sun Chao nodded blankly.

Section Chief Ma looked at Sun Chao's chubby face, seething with anger. He couldn't just kill him, though; he cursed him silently, thinking that once this was over he'd give him a piece of his mind.

The atmosphere in the meeting room turned awkward as everyone fell silent.

Just under ten minutes later, Zheng Ren and Su Yun entered with a few people.

Section Chief Ma immediately rose, forcing a smile as he went to meet them. The reporters from Hua Shi TV must not be offended; they are truly the uncrowned kings.

"Boss Zheng, this is..." Section Chief Ma asked with a smile.

"Sun Zeli, a news reporter from Hua Shi TV," Zheng Ren said.

Sun Zeli's face was frosty; she extended her hand neither cold nor warm, politely touching Section Chief Ma's, then quickly withdrew it.

"Little Sun, I told you the people outside are causing a medical disturbance," Su Yun said, closing the door with a smile.

"Yun Ge'er." Seeing her film crew come in, Su Yun closed the door and said coldly, "I saw everything at the door just now; let's speak frankly behind closed doors—you've handled this terribly. Doctors must have medical ethics; that's the bare minimum. Look what you've done to the patients!"

An invisible slap struck Section Chief Ma's face.

"The patients have been bullied into inhuman shapes; frankly, I've been a reporter for seven or eight years and have seen plenty of society's dark side." Sun Zeli's voice was as cold as ice, rarely showing such firmness in front of Zheng Ren and Su Yun.

Zheng Ren also felt helpless; he understood why Sun Zeli was angry.

At first glance she seemed like a vase, but after experiencing earthquake relief and seeing her frontline reports, Zheng Ren still thought well of her.

Anyone seeing today's events would feel sympathy.

"Boss Zheng, Yun Ge'er, this sort of thing only needs the director of Fu Yuan to mention it to our station head; I'm just a small reporter." Sun Zeli said, "Besides, this kind of thing wouldn't make it onto Hua Shi TV."

"Little Sun, speak properly if you have something to say; look at your stubborn face." Su Yun said with a smile, "Sit down, sit down; we still have a few hours."

"What do you mean, a few hours?" Sun Zeli asked doubtfully.

"You think you can go to heaven? We didn't bring you here for what you're imagining." Su Yun retorted directly.

Section Chief Ma almost had a heart attack from the fright; how is Professor Su speaking like that? It sounds like they're about to fight.

"What can you solve? Don't worry, I won't make things difficult for you." Su Yun said with a chuckle, "Look at your self-righteous, justice-seeking expression—it makes us seem like villains."

"Hmph." Sun Zeli let out a cold snort.

"The boss consulted an expert, who said this is just a little trick to stir up sympathy so they can cause trouble." Su Yun said, "I don't trust that person; this is irresponsible talk."

"Yun Ge'er, if it's irresponsible, why did you bring me here?"

"That person said, and then..." Su Yun glanced at her phone, "He'll be here in a little over two hours; get ready. This is why I thought of you—if things turn around, Hua Shi TV still carries weight."

"A turnaround?!" Sun Zeli snorted coldly.

"Let me brief you on the situation first." Su Yun turned to Section Chief Ma and asked, "Section Chief Ma, can we let the reporters see the surveillance footage?"

"We need to submit an application and follow procedure. I'll have my staff handle the paperwork slowly; let's take a look first." Section Chief Ma said hurriedly.

Reporters have the right to request surveillance footage, but the hospital rarely lets them use it to resolve issues.

As Zheng Ren and Professor Su joined in, today's events slipped further beyond control, and Section Chief Ma already felt the situation was out of hand.
