Chapter 3102: 2898 Don't try to save me, just let me die
2898 Don't try to save me, just let me die.
After finishing the surgery, Zheng Ren looked over the patients, then took a quick look at Xiao Shitou, and only then did he leisurely go to the Emergency Department.
But I haven't been here for a while; lately I've been busy as hell, mainly because the robotic arm has entered clinical use, and Zheng Ren needs time to adjust and get used to it.
After all, there are tasks that reward Energy Value, so they can't be ignored. Moreover, doing surgery well and doing surgery well with the robotic arm are not the same, just like the old directors who were used to wielding a big knife are especially resistant to laparoscopic surgery.
Walking down the Emergency Department hallway, the noisy, urgent atmosphere made Zheng Ren feel as if he were back in Hai Cheng, and his steps unconsciously quickened a bit.
Su Yun had already arrived; seeing Zhou Litao busy examining a patient with acute gastroenteritis, Zheng Ren went straight to the duty room.
"Did Liu Xiaomei send her over?" Zheng Ren asked upon entering.
"Mm, Lao Fan seems a bit dazed; I guess he still thinks we found him a wife." Su Yun laughed, teasing Fan Tian Shui.
"Cut the nonsense, Liu Xiaomei doesn't seem to be of age yet."
"She's sixteen, I asked, that counts as adult." Su Yun laughed, but didn't continue the joke, "Only someone like Lao Fan can keep her in line, letting Liu Xiaomei know what it means to be strong through lack of desire."
"Did you talk to Lao Fan?"
Zheng Ren's question was vague; he didn't even make clear what he was asking.
But Su Yun understood; he smiled and said, "Lao Fan was standing beside us yesterday and saw everything that happened. He knows what kind of person Liu Xiaomei is. Don't think Lao Fan is simple-minded just because he's honest; he's sharp. Anyone who could get into his former unit isn't simple-minded."
Zheng Ren nodded; he had never asked about Fan Tian Shui's past or why he ended up like that when they met.
Heartbreaking things—just let the past be the past; talking about it is pointless.
"Manager Zhou is really busy; I've been sitting here half an hour and still haven't seen him finish." Su Yun said, "Boss, why don't you go help out? I was also going to ask Manager Zhou how his recent paper is going."
Zheng Ren glanced at Su Yun; this guy won't go himself, he's trying to make me go.
Although nobody wants to come to a place like the Emergency Department—it's busy, exhausting, terribly tough—there's no denying it: absolutely nobody would like it here. Even though Zhou Litao now looks lively and energetic, that's only because Tang Manager suddenly resigned, preferring to give up the 912 staffing rather than become the Inpatient Chief.
"Yun Ge'er, Yun Ge'er, sorry, I'm really busy." Zhou Litao hurried back, bumped the door open with his arm, saw Zheng Ren also inside, and quickly greeted him.
While washing his hands, he said, "Zheng Lao Ban, Yun Ge'er, I saw the video circulating online yesterday, saw you two standing in the back. Did you go to watch the excitement, or did you just happen to run into it?"
"Ha!" Su Yun chuckled, "Boss, look, online transmission is just fast. I estimate Liu Xiaomei is already an internet celebrity; if we run a few more special episodes, we'll make big money, with tips pouring in nonstop."
"Cut the nonsense." Zheng Ren said, "The kid is still young; we need to contact a middle school—she still has to go to school."
"Tch, you really think ten years of hard study can outweigh several generations of others' effort? That's just clouds!" Su Yun said disdainfully.
"Anyway, going to school is better than wandering aimlessly in society." Zheng Ren said firmly, "Not being led astray by Dahungya already counts as her staying pure despite the mire."
"How do you know she hasn't been led astray?" Su Yun objected as usual, "In my view, Liu Xiaomei surpasses her teacher. Look—someone whose head hits the concrete and immediately bleeds… … Manager Zhou, are you up to it?"
"Me? Yun Ge'er, don't joke, that's impossible." Zhou Litao laughed, "That girl is truly fierce; I didn't know the real situation yesterday, but after seeing the video I thought this bunch were total scum."
"Even knowing the truth, they're still scum."
"That's right, that's right." Zhou Litao finished washing his hands with the seven-step method, dried them, and smiled, saying, "I watched a Hua Shi TV program, my eyes were bleeding—turns out it was from taking rifampicin. To be honest, I didn't even know such a thing existed."
Zheng Ren sighed; Zhou Litao didn't know, and neither did I.
These people are also geniuses; they can exaggerate a drug's normal bodily reaction to the fullest. In the pre-internet era, just this trick was enough for them to eat their way across the country, leaving countless hospitals in tears.
"Manager Zhou!"
Before Zhou Litao could clarify last night's situation, the hallway again echoed with a nurse's voice.
Zhou Litao sighed, opened the door and asked, "What patient?"
"A suicide!"
"Please wait a moment, I'll go have a look." After saying that, Zhou Litao dashed off.
"Go back." Zheng Ren said, "Manager Zhou is swamped here; there's simply no time."
Su Yun shrugged and said, "I'll go straight to Shihuai Ru; you go back and think of some mushy words to write to Yi Ren—good luck."
"Just everyday chatter; I won't say anything mushy."
"I can! Or let me help you think." Su Yun volunteered.
"That also won't do—if you come up with it, is it you saying it or me saying it? For this kind of thing, we still need to be serious." Zheng Ren stood up and walked out of Zhou Litao's duty room.
Outside the nearby Emergency Resuscitation Room, a man leaned his head back, hand covering his nose, while Zhou Litao was talking to him about something.
Not a suicide patient? How can he be sitting there talking? Zheng Ren didn't quite understand.
But from a distance, the patient's system panel wasn't very red, so probably nothing serious. He didn't pay it any mind and walked over.
"Zheng Lao Ban, I..." Zheng Ren didn't finish; after taking a close look at the patient's system panel, he froze.
"Zheng Lao Ban, Yun Ge'er, you two are leaving?" Zhou Litao said with a hint of regret.
"What's wrong with the patient?" Zheng Ren frowned and asked.
"He argued with his wife, hit his head on the table corner, and ended up with a bloody nose." Zhou Litao sighed and said, "It doesn't look serious; just plug it up and it'll be fine in a moment."
Zheng Ren recalled the rolling-pin incident involving the cohabiting couple next door, gave a wry smile, and offhandedly said, "Wasn't it the table corner he hit?"
"Don't mind me, let me bleed out and die." The man said, covering his nose, his voice muffled.
Zheng Ren and Su Yun both laughed.
This guy only talks like that because he's in the hospital; if he really wanted to die, there are ten thousand ways—why bother coming to the hospital to seek death?
"Did he hit his nose?" Zheng Ren asked Zhou Litao.
"I didn't see any injury on his nose; he said he hit his forehead, yet his nose is bleeding." Zhou Litao said, somewhat puzzled.
The patient's forehead injury isn't serious, but it's quite noticeable—could it be that he hit his nose? Zheng Ren had some doubts.
