Chapter 472: 464 Covered in Glass Shards

~7 min read 1,371 words

"Chief Zheng, be careful!" the nurse exclaimed from behind.

This kind of drilling is extremely dangerous; if there's any untreated glass, tearing clothes is trivial. Even if it leaves a scratch on the body, that's normal.

Zheng Ren didn't have time to worry about that, drilling in while shouting, "Find someone to help open the door!"

After drilling in, the floor was littered with broken glass.

Zheng Ren didn't bother to notice these, directly looking toward the rear carriage.

The rear seats were laid flat, with a woman slumped there, unconscious. Her upper garment torn above the chest, pants to the knees, her whole body limp.

Zheng Ren frowned, glanced at the system panel in the upper right of his view, the diagnosis making him both laugh and cry.

Damn, there's actually nothing wrong!

That must be because they were playing too H, dazed and having their clothes taken off. That person was also impatient, just about to start when the driver got into an accident.

The two feared trouble and fled directly, leaving the woman in the freezing snow.

Damn it! Zheng Ren cursed, looking at the woman with worry.

The female patient looked fairly pretty, about twenty-two or twenty-three years old.

But

She had clothes on top and bottom, but the middle was bare. Zheng Ren wasn't lecherous; he just worried that in this freezing snow, the car door might not open in time to get her to the hospital.

This is because the hospital is nearby; if it were farther, those who discovered the accident wouldn't dare move, and a person would freeze to death within half an hour.

Her luck seemed not bad.

He sighed, Zheng Ren took off his military coat and covered the female patient with it.

As soon as the military coat came off, Zheng Ren involuntarily shivered.

In the depths of winter, the snow had just stopped; it's damn cold.

Zheng Ren wore a thin inner sweater and a white coat outside; without the military coat, the cold wind would freeze him straight through.

"Chief Zheng, wear mine!" a stretcher worker said, seeing Zheng Ren's thin clothing.

"No need, help me pry open the car door quickly; if not possible, call 119! Pass me the sphygmomanometer!" Zheng Ren shouted.

"Oh." The little nurse who came with the vehicle quickly passed the sphygmomanometer through the broken window.

Zheng Ren took the sphygmomanometer and began measuring the patient's blood pressure.

120/80 mmHg, completely fine.

Zheng Ren also performed a neurological reflex exam on the patient; everything was normal, temporarily ruling out injury to the spinal cord and other central nervous system.

Even if there were, it wouldn't be serious; moreover, the system, this big pig trotter, had already told Zheng Ren the patient was fine.

Five or six minutes later, sanitation workers and the stretcher crew from the 120 rescue vehicle, using shovels and such, barely pried open the rear door; with everyone's help, they then carefully moved the female patient out.

Once in the ambulance, Zheng Ren's whole body went stiff.

He kept exhaling to warm his stiff hands a bit, but moving his hands and feet made glass shards slide on his body.

Zheng Ren saw that his hand had been cut at some point, not deep, already scabbed.

Nothing serious, no need for a tetanus shot, Zheng Ren judged himself.

"Chief Zheng, you're really pushing yourself," the little nurse said.

"Hurry back, I'll freeze to death." Zheng Ren rubbed the skin exposed outside.

But as soon as he moved, he felt a prickling sensation, his whole body uncomfortable.

And he still didn't know how many glass shards were on his body.

The 120 ambulance turned a corner, returning to the Emergency Department building; the gurney was already waiting at the entrance. The stretcher workers and Zheng Ren placed the patient on the gurney, Zheng Ren also jumped down, returning to the warm hallway.

For the first time, he felt the Emergency Department would be this warm.

Outside, it's damn freezing!

"Chief Zheng, what about the money?" the little nurse chased after Zheng Ren asking for money.

"First go get checked, we'll talk about the rest later," Zheng Ren said.

For such an unidentified patient, we can only wait until she wakes up to discuss. As for whether we can collect payment, that's up to fate.

The doctors of the Emergency Department Surgery quickly examined the patient; finding no major issues, they ordered a head CT, sending the attendant to take the patient for the scan.

Zheng Ren returned to the 120 rescue duty room, took off his sweater, and picked out the glass shards bit by bit.

Thinking of the female patient exposed in the car, nearly frozen to death, Zheng Ren shook his head.

After a few minutes back, having cleared the glass shards from his upper clothing, Zheng Ren hurried to drink a few sips of hot water, then he recovered his strength.

At minus thirty degrees, wearing only a thin sweater and a white coat is truly insufficient.

In this rescue, Zheng Ren gained experience.

"Chief Zheng, someone has come to inquire about the patient, likely family." A nurse found Zheng Ren and reported the situation.

"Where is the person?"

"They said the patient went for a head CT, and they went to look for someone." the nurse said.

"Let's wait for them to return, I'll tell them." Zheng Ren said.

Zheng Ren simply didn't return to the 120 rescue duty room, sitting in front waiting for the patient and her family to come back.

After waiting over ten minutes, the empty gurney was pushed back by the attendant.

"Where is the person?" Zheng Ren asked, surprised.

"They ran off with a bunch of damned hooligans." the attendant said angrily, "They even scolded me."

Zheng Ren sighed, comforted the attendant a few words, then pulled up the patient's head CT scan on the computer, glanced at it—nothing wrong—and finally relaxed.

The patient is fine; that's enough, at least no major incident. As for money… we're not lacking it now, so let's leave it as is.

Working hard and yet losing money seems absurd, but that's the fact.

Zheng Ren could do nothing about it.

Even with a Big Pig Trotter, he cannot attempt to change all of this; what he can change is only himself.

It was already almost two o'clock; Zheng Ren slept in a daze.

The latter half of the night was still not bad; internal medicine had one outpatient visit, surgery was fine, Zheng Ren woke up, and it was already past seven.

Early in the morning, after the doctor on duty arrived, Zheng Ren hurriedly ran to the Operating Room's bathroom, took a shower, and carefully cleaned all the glass shards off his body.

At that point, he felt much fresher.

Professor Rudolf Wagner arrived at the Hospital on time, and after he arrived he began looking for Zheng Ren.

Having heard that Zheng Ren had gone to the Operating Room to take a shower, Professor Rudolf Wagner brought Xiao Aolifu directly to the Operating Room Gengyishi, standing straight like a guard.

After Zheng Ren finished his shower and came out, he was startled.

"Boss, you finally came out." Professor Rudolf Wagner, upon seeing Zheng Ren, finally showed a hint of a smile on his serious face: "I've been thinking a lot yesterday, and I didn't sleep well all evening."

"What did you think of?"

"I think the difference between us is not a difference in ideology but a difference in technical level." Professor Rudolf Wagner said very seriously: "This morning, all blood tests have been done; can we schedule the surgery for tomorrow? During the surgery, I see you blocking part of the capillary; the rest, can I do it?"

Zheng Ren nodded.

Professor Rudolf Wagner, his level is high; at the very least he can know where the problem lies.

Not bad.

…

…

(When I went to the emergency room, it was a personal experience. Now I've completely forgotten the specific details; all I remember is the bone-chilling cold and being covered in glass shards. Oh, right, that day was Christmas Eve. Girls going out to play, be sure to stay safe.)
