Chapter 625: with translation of chapter title
616 Oh, good (Alliance Leader adds one more for a pure self-draw)
Xie Yiren wore a beige trench coat, stood in a very conspicuous spot, her appearance unchanged.
Thus translation: "616 Oh, good (Alliance Leader adds one more for a clean self-draw)". We'll keep parentheses.
However, even more conspicuous than Xie Yiren was Professor Rudolf, who actually appeared at the arrival gate of Capital International Airport's terminal.
Did he arrive by instant teleportation? Zheng Ren wondered.
However, this thought only flashed in his mind for a moment, then was dispelled by Zheng Ren.
Who cares!
Putting his suitcase down, Zheng Ren opened his arms and strode toward Xie Yiren.
No sweet talk,
No whispered words by the ear,
No expressing sorrow of parting,
Only a genuine, fervent embrace.
The gentle Xie Yiren held in his arms, Zheng Ren felt his world grow quiet.
Quiet to the ears, quiet before the eyes, besides Xie Yiren, still Xie Yiren.
Familiar body scent, familiar hair, familiar temperature,
Everything remained unchanged,
Really good.
After an unknown amount of time, Zheng Ren felt someone pat him.
"Hey, boss, no need for this. Go home, go home, there's plenty of time." Su Yun's voice especially annoyed Zheng Ren.
However, it seemed that embracing Xie Yiren in the crowd was obstructing others. Zheng Ren lowered his head, lightly kissed her forehead, then let go.
"Boss, you've finally returned. I've been waiting for you here in this crowded place for a long time." Professor Rudolf almost spoke through tears.
Zheng Ren ignored the professor, instead smoothing Xie Yiren's slightly messy hair and rubbing her fluffy head.
Really, I could never get enough of looking at her.
"Boss, are you listening to me? The Shou Bing let me mess up, a real mess—what do you think we should do?" The professor kept nagging in Zheng Ren's ear.
Zheng Ren held Xie Yiren's hand, as if holding the whole world.
"Fugui'er, what's going on?" Zheng Ren asked.
Professor Rudolf finally heard Zheng Ren speaking to him, and he immediately repeated the whole story beside Zheng Ren.
They had already talked about it on the phone, and Zheng Ren also understood the whole process. But the professor wanted to speak, so he did—this is also a way of psychological stress relief.
Professor Rudolf couldn't stay in Heidelberg any longer, like an ant on a hot pan. The Nobel Prize in Medicine was his lifelong goal.
This time, he was so close to that goal that, in a daze, he had the illusion that if he missed this opportunity, he might never touch that trophy in his lifetime.
Unable to just wait for death, the professor couldn't sleep peacefully in Heidelberg; he simply decided to wait like a hunter, flying straight to Di Du to wait for Zheng Ren.
Fortunately he had kept in touch with Chang Yue and others, knowing that Xie Yiren and Chang Yue had come to Di Du for work; otherwise, making another trip to Hai Cheng would be a hassle.
Professor Rudolf waited in Di Du for half a month, each day anxiously calling Zheng Ren.
In his view, Zheng Ren was the only one who could salvage this already-failed nomination.
"What do you want to do?" After listening to the professor's nagging, Zheng Ren took Xie Yiren's hand and asked while walking toward the airport exit.
"Boss, what else can we do? Book tickets and fly to Stockholm right away." Professor Rudolf didn't understand Zheng Ren's calm reaction, saying, "It's already March; the review process has started. If we're late, even Mei Ha'er won't be able to help."
"Wait a few days; I have time."
"Boss..." Professor Rudolf nearly begged, thinking, what could be more important than the Nobel Prize?
"I have to go report to Director Kong, after all." Zheng Ren really didn't want to fly to Sweden; just having gotten off the plane, he took Xiao Yi Ren's hand, headed home, eating the meals Xiao Yi Ren made—how wonderful life would be.
"Nobel Prize? What the hell is that? Can you eat it? Can it save lives?"
"Maybe it could, but Zheng Ren didn't want to think about all that; the warm little hand in his palm was his everything."
"Zheng Lao Ban, whether or not you report to the hospital doesn't matter." Director Kong said from behind: "I suggest you first go see Professor Rudolf."
Zheng Ren glanced back at Director Kong, seeing his serious attitude, he hesitated slightly.
Su Yun and Chang Yue walked side by side behind, chatting. Seeing Zheng Ren turn his head, Su Yun turned her face away, not looking at him.
"Later, later." Zheng Ren brushed it off.
"Zheng Ren, if you have time, take Fugui'er to have a look." Xie Yiren laughed: "These days, Fugui'er has been dying to see it."
"Oh, good." Zheng Ren said it without thinking, instinctively.
"..." Professor Rudolf instantly felt as if the sky had brightened.
It seems the boss's wife's words are more effective?
Should we regularly buy something for the boss's wife from now on? Professor Rudolf pondered.
But that's for later; Professor Rudolf immediately seized on Zheng Ren's offhand remark and said, "Boss, then I'll book the tickets."
"Hey, do we really need to rush?" Zheng Ren was displeased.
"Fugui'er, book tickets, bring me one too." Su Yun said from behind.
"Sure." Professor Rudolf's face was full of smiles, countless wrinkles silently laughing.
"I'll send you the boss's information. Passport… boss, do you have a passport?"
"Special government personnel can get passports through the green channel." Director Kong continued, giving Zheng Ren no chance to refuse, and it was settled.
Just as Zheng Ren was about to say something, his palm tightened slightly—it was Xie Yiren.
"Go get busy; I'll be waiting for you at home." Xie Yiren whispered.
"Oh, good." Zheng Ren's IQ instantly dropped to a negative value—whatever Xiao Yi Ren says goes.
All the way back to Xie Yiren's home in the Golden Palm community near Chaoyang Park on the Eastern Third Ring Road, Xie Yiren and Zheng Ren chatted about recent events along the way.
All the way back to Xie Yiren's home in the Golden Palm community near Chaoyang Park on the Eastern Third Ring Road, Xie Yiren and Zheng Ren chatted about recent events along the way.
Director Kong's side also doesn't have many compiled items; at most four. Besides Zheng Ren, Su Yun, Xie Yiren, there is still one slot.
Chu Family Sisters said they wanted to do residency training, and after the residency ends they will come to Di Du to look for Zheng Ren. There is one remaining spot, and many people are eyeing it.
Director Pan made the decision, respecting the opinions of Zheng Ren and Su Yun, and decided to let Chang Yue come along.
Chang Yue began to hesitate; housing in Di Du is so expensive that even renting it, she couldn't earn that much in a month.
Later Director Kong said that in Di Du bonuses are calculated by workload, giving a monthly income of ten to twenty thousand. Xie Yiren told her she didn't need to rent a house, as her family had a place in Golden Palm, and only then did Chang Yue agree.
Director Kong originally wanted to find a restaurant to welcome Zheng Ren, but Xie Yiren had already prepared the ingredients and was just waiting for Zheng Ren to return.
Thus he was also brought to Xie Yiren's home in Golden Palm to attend the welcome banquet.
The housing here cannot compare to Hai Cheng; the area is much smaller. Moreover, the location near Chaoyang Park on the East Third Ring Road is also far from the hospital.
But after all, having a home is not nothing.
Two hours later, Xie Yiren had finished her work and prepared a dozen dishes.
When the garlicky fish aroma filled the air, Director Kong received a call saying that Zheng Ren's passport had been processed.
The professor didn't even have time to eat, directly booked the next flight to Stockholm, and made countless calls to arrange what little Oliver needed to do over there.
……
……
Here, I'll say a couple of things. Earlier I said the story would enter its climax in mid-to-late month. This climax is not about the health department, nor the Nobel Prize. Originally I wanted to gloss over these two plotlines in one stroke, but the Stockholm segment had too much to explain, so I rewrote the outline entirely; at least 20,000 words are needed to make it clear, and interestingly clear.
Actually, writing transitional chapters is really hard; you can't just fill space, some things still need to be explained, and given my limits I'll try to write up to my peak ability. Actually, this book has always been hovering around my peak ability; the earlier part doesn't count, because that was from the previous unsigned book where I thought the editor liked dark fiction… huh, it's just that I wasn't sure of myself. Speaking of which, once I went back to look up what the chief of general surgery at 912 Hospital, Wang Zong, was called, I saw the P-J Syndrome, and seeing that I somewhat understood that chapter, I thought it was really good.
The hardest times are already past; in the outline I added some bits, which I find fairly satisfactory. The weekend will kick off the buildup to the major climax.
I bow, thank everyone for your support; this weekend I will strive to add an extra chapter on top of the usual five updates, in hopes of securing next month's monthly votes.
